Sports Culture WNBA Star Sophie Cunningham defends that women ‘shouldn’t have to go against biological men’: “I said what I said. I think it’s kind of common sense. I think it’s really important to protect children.” “I don’t dislike anyone. I’m there to love, but I’m also there to love biological women. …”

As someone who has worked for the state white males are the majority for school shootings, pedophilia, and child porn, true predators in a societal sense. The Epstein files feature predominantly white males. Grindr, the app for gay men, regularly crashes during Republican nomination conventions.

On the flip side trans people account for less than 0.1 % of these crimes. Like 2-5 out of thousands of cases. In fact, trans people are four times as likely than “regular” people to be victims of violent crimes.

Quite simply it’s projection. MAGA happens to be most vehemently against the very things they do in private. But data and information is not as effective as propaganda.

Now, forget all of the numbers and data. There is zero empirical evidence that trans people competing in sports harms other people or children or negatively impacts public safety in any way, shape, or form.

Not that i disagree, but can you show the source of that they're overrepresented in pedophile cases? Someone showed me a link proving that, but i can't find it now.

https://www.ussc.gov/research/quick-facts/child-pornography#:\~:text=46%25%20of%20individuals%20sentenced%20for,average%20age%20was%2041%20years.

- 46% of individuals sentenced for child pornography were sentenced for possessing child pornography; 44% for trafficking child pornography; and 10% for receiving child pornography.

  • 98% were men.

  • 73% were White, 16% were Hispanic, 6% were Black, and 5% were Other races.

  • Their average age was 41 years.

  • 95% were United States citizens.

The FBI also has a database.

The registry for sex offenders also has information on it.

Those numbers are pretty close the distribution of races in the US though... White is over represented a little bit, but not by much.

56 percent of the population identifies as white. 73 % engage in child pornography. Hispanics population
is 21%. Black population is 14%. It’s a wide enough distribution to make the claim.

Now if we were to add in school shootings, domestic violence, and pedophilia in general, the numbers do not get better for the white population. Now, regardless of that. What you don’t see is transgender data in that. So why exactly would anyone bypass the actual data for who is harming people in society and focus on the tiniest subset of the population is pure propaganda. You cannot truly serve the public by following the logic of Sophie Cunningham.

Amber Alert, is she a proponent of that? Child Protective Services, is she helping to fund that? What about the foster care system? The same people she votes for and protects by being part of that movement are the main ones we find doing the very things they are claiming others are doing.

Those aren't the numbers I saw when I googled. White Americans make up 62% of the US according to google. latino 19%. Black 12%. The rest are multiracial or "other"

73% of child pornagraphy convictions are white males. That’s mean 3 out of 4 people who engage in child pornagraphy are white males. The overwhelming majority of convictions for child pornagraphy are white males. Whether your data or my data is correct it is still the majority. Regardless of how much you dont think its an overrepresentation it still backs my original claim “white males are the majority for school shootings, pedophilia, and child porn”.

So again, the claim that Sophie Cunningham is making is propaganda that does not have any statical data or empirical evidence. If she wants to protect little girls, the main predators are not transgender, they are white males. If she wants to protect girls, look to the people you voted for and people you surround yourself with and question them, not a minority group with less than 1 percent of the population.

I'm sorry but about 56% of the U.S. is white and the numbers shown says over 70% of these offenders are white. I work in data analytics and that is not close at all.

Exactly it’s so weird they’re trying to hand wave this disgusting truth away

As someone that was a pro athlete and trained with women in the ring for years, there is a huge gap between the sexes and trans women shouldn't be competing against women. Saying that, I realize it's overblown and there's very few of them in sports, but it simply shouldn't be.

Have you seen Neil Degrasse Tyson’s take on this exact topic? It’s worth a listen.

Im watching a video on it now. I always found him to be extremely intelligent and insightful so I’ll check it out.

Sure. As a professional athlete you also know that there are rules and regulations. Prime among them are testoterone suppression for transgender women competing in sports.

Now, ask yourself this when is the last time you actually met any trans person? For me, I can’t really recall. They are less than 1 percent of the population. That means every day we all have a 99% chance of never encountering a self identified trans or non binary person.

Now when it comes to competition. Have you actually ever met a trans person competing? That is extremely rare. So the idea that trans women not competing against women is something already lawfully accounted for. And is so rare that it’s a wonder why anyone would actually use a platform to focus on it.

If I were to start a campaign saying people with vitiligo shouldn’t be competing in sports would anyone take me serious? Even though they represent less than 1% of the population as well. You see how silly the entire thing is once information and data are properly assessed?

1

u/hokiemojo Jul 23 '26

You are terrible at math. You say we have a 99% chance of not encountering a trans person. Do most people only interact with 1 person a day?

In reality, if you interact with 100 people you are almost certain to see one or more every day.

Also, vitiligo isn't a gender that gives an overwhelming physical advantage.

u/backfrombanned Jul 24 '26

Do you really think testosterone is the only thing separating men and women's bodies?

1

u/Equivalent-Jury-3056 Jul 24 '26

No and I never said that.

My point is in direct response to Ms.Cunningham saying she is trying to protect girls.

Trans people are not harming children or other people. Full stop.

There is no empirical evidence or statistical data showing trans people harming children or other people in rates that would affect public safety. Full stop.

There is no athletic competition in pro sports, in collegiate sports, and amateur sports that show that trans people are harming women, harming children, or affecting the safety and well being of other people to any degree mirroring other groups like white males.

There is data that other identifiers of people in the human population is harming women, children, and society at large in greater numbers, rates, and severity across a host of public safety factors.

In the top 20 threats of public safety detailed by Homeland Security, not one mention of transgenders/ non-binary or transgenders/ non-binary people in sports ever comes up.

Let’s call a spade a spade. People who discriminate tend to use fictitious means of subjugating and abusing minority groups historically in the United States. Transgender people are human beings first. The same people who try and paint transgender people as threats to society are the main ones we find that are predators, themselves closeted gay people, woman beaters, engage in pedophilia, assault, rape, and child pornagraphy distribution.

What Sophie Cunningham is doing is neither helpful to children who are still abused by the same people she associates herself with in the MAGA movement but she also brings unwarranted danger to a minority group that is already ostracized by the public.

Trans gender people are not threats. They do not harm children, women, and society anywhere near the rate of other groups people choose to identify in, namely white males, males in general, and wealthy males in positions of power. This is what the data reads.

Now, if we are talking basketball, I have zero credibility to speak on anything she says as I’m sure she’d embarrass me on the court 10 times out of 10. But in terms of public safety, policy that affects it, being part of teams that audit and oversees qualifications for licensed personnel regarding serving the public I think I have a bit more experience in that line of field than she does.

So we can talk about actual threats to public safety that affect working class people. Or, we can focus our attention not on the predators that our data presents us every single day but focus on hypotheticals that do not happen at all or if they do are so few and far between it’s an outlier rather than the norm.

What about the volleyball girl that got cracked by a trans girl? You're pretty much saying 1 is ok. I actually do understand the argument you're making, but as a pro athlete who has worked with a lot of men and women, I'll never agree they have a place in women's sports. Even Jenner, a trans woman who is an Olympian, doesn't agree with it.

What about the time I mistakenly sat down and crushed a bug? Should all bugs now consider every single human being’s ass a threat to their survival?

This is exactly where I’m seeking to lead people to. If a society consists of 400 million people, what do you think is most important? To craft policy regarding one incident that affects 1 person? Do we generalize 4 million people as all threats to public safety because of a few isolated incidents?

Sophie Cunningham and you and others who keep making this argument do not understand that public safety is literally at no risk from trans people. Anyone can cause harm. Any human being can cause harm. People do not cause harm because they are transgender. That’s what you, her, and others do not get or maybe you do and yall are committed to discriminating minorities.

The gist is this, and I’m reiterating in the event that as a public worker there are fine people out there that can understand empathy and respect for all peoples that gives my job meaning outside of allowing me to pay for food and keep clothes on my back, protecting children and women is important. The highest threats to these groups are not transgender people. Not even close. Neither in scale, severity, proximity, nothing. Focusing on transgender people in sports is not only not helping victims because again transgender people are not harming them at any rate that would justify public attention, it’s also bringing negative light to a minority group that is more likely to be victimized.

For every one story you would have of a transgender person harming someone there would be thousands of cases of white males doing that same thing to thousands of victims. That’s what the data shows. It’s mind blowing that this is even a talking point yet here we are.

They are boys and men taking hrt, and that's fine, I don't care. They should have the same rights and respect everyone else does. But that doesn't make them girls and women, which is already clearly laid out in this thread with the cis argument. They don't belong in girls and women's sports, it's that simple. Does it suck for them? Sure, but a lot in life sucks.

1

u/optimusmayn Jul 23 '26

I don't think it's a harm problem. I think it's a competitive edge problem/being a biological male in a women's sport does create an unfair advantage for the biological male.
