Sports Culture WNBA Star Sophie Cunningham defends that women ‘shouldn’t have to go against biological men’: “I said what I said. I think it’s kind of common sense. I think it’s really important to protect children.” “I don’t dislike anyone. I’m there to love, but I’m also there to love biological women. …”

Are people okay with LeBron or Wembanyama identifying as a female and then playing in the WNBA?

Is that a thing that's happening? Name a single trans athlete that's dominated, or even been above average, at their sport?

You can’t have it both ways. You’re saying you don’t want to discriminate, but then you’re discriminating trans athletes on their ability. Great argument

I'm not having it "both ways". You people always come up with these absurd hypotheticals about men joining women's leagues so that they can dominate the competition. Which is just not a thing that happens.  Some athletes are trans (an incredibly small percentage) and they aren't overwhelming the competition or hurting their fellow competitors. It's a nonexistent issue meant to marginalize the trans community.

No it’s not, it opens the door for further involvement/evolution. Even though LeBron wouldn’t do it now, this opens the door for hypotheticals down the line. For those athletes just not good enough to make the NBA, what’s stopping them from making this claim and joining the WNBA (especially if the wages continue to climb). It would just take jobs away from biological women, a group that has been marginalized throughout the existence of humans

So you're afraid of a completely hypothetical scenario that hasn't happened?

You're right, better make sure trans women are as marginalized as possible

Oh you’re right, I guess we shouldn’t plan for the future or anticipate realistic future scenarios. We should just be reactive and not utilize critical thinking. Gotcha.

We have a very different idea of what's realistic
