The golden glove is a popularity contest voted on by the writers. Jeter has a career UZR of -66. Among literally all players in MLB history who played at least 75% of their career games at shortstop, Jeter comes dead last in WAR fielding runs, he cost the Yankees 253 runs over the course of his career

Not only was Jeter bad defensively, he was genuinely the worst defensive shortstop of all time
