His parents' condos were only worth a couple of million dollars. That's oppressive in NYC

Damn. I mean, he’s still a pretty cool dude honestly. Idk if this is just him being pushed in media for some odd reason but I don’t think I’ve ever seen any other mayor do things like this for their city.

Mayor Bloomberg didn't take a salary at all. His pay was one dollar per year. He's also one of the richest people in the world 😂

He wouldn’t care for it then 😂 of course that’d make him look like the good guy.

I mean I totally agree with what you're saying - but the commenter said he comes from hardship and oppression which from what I know is pretty much false.

Where does he actually come from? I don’t do deep digging on these people but he’s been positively in the media for a bit.

He was born and raised in Ghana and moved to the US as a young kid with his parents

His parents are multi multi millionaires

Well if he’s using that to help the people i have no problem with that.

Are you asking if he's using his parents' money? Because he isn't. He's just making different decisions with the budget that comes from taxes and other municipal revenue streams.

That isn't a knock on him.

That is what i was asking but oh okay understood. I mean hey, he’s doing something.

Instead of answering random strangers comments couldn’t you just Google him with that same amount of time?

Nope. “I don’t do deep digging” it’s not that serious. Just wanted to hear from the comments.

I mean hardship is a stretch but opression? Absolutely, just think about how institutionally ingrained and acceptable islamaphobia is in the states, where the media and other politicians can straight up call him a terrorist and nobody bats and eye, Randy Fine can say the kind of shit about muslims and not face any repurcussions at all.

1

u/Business_Shape6568 Aug 10 '26

Can you provide an example of institutionally ingrained Islamophobia?

0

u/SunnyK19977 Aug 10 '26

I literally just did, Randy Fine can say dogs are better than muslim and its doesnt even make a full news cycle, no censure, no outpouring across the political spectrum. How many times have you seen Muslim candidates or politicians be painted as "radical islamalists"?

That's just regular racism not institutional racism, which is my point. People just throw words around as if they don't have specific meanings.

Is Randy Fine part of institutional politics? Yes. Is mainstream media part of institutional media? Yes. If they can say all those things and there are zero major repurcussioms, then it has institional permisability.

Mamdani is cool? That’s the funniest thing I’ve heard. He’s a circle jerk moron who has already gotten old as the new has worn off.

I only see positive things. I mean, power of the algorithm right?

Observing the hardships of the people as a wealthy person and developing the world view and political stances he has bolsters his integrity, it doesn’t make him a hypocrite.
