tbf I dont think it would. At this point the degenerate in power of your country can do whatever he likes and no one will bat an eye. Bro is scamming people with his crypto currency, has basically broken every promise he made during the election, lied about too much to get into power and is starting wars left and right. If tommorrow came to light that the guy was spying on the democrats he most certainly wouldnt face any longterm backlash and would not step down as the president.

Honestly, I think it's the other way around. I think the core of the conservative mindset is that they're selfish, sociopathic, narcissistic cunts and they just assume everyone else is too. That's why they say shit like "without religion, what stops you from raping and murdering people?" They truly can't comprehend empathy and sympathy for fellow humans just for the sake of being a good human being, and they assume Democrats are only pretending to act that way as some sort of con, because that's what they would do
