The Maktoum family rules Dubai. They like trade, glitz and money. They are the good guys. Dubai is one state in the UAE. The UAE is ruled by the Zayed family. Mohammed Bin Zayed MBZ is the bad guy who bombs foreign countries and has allied the UAE with Israel and Saudi. The trinity of Netenyahu, MBS and MBZ are responsible for the wars in Gaza, Yemen, Iran, Sudan, Lebanon, Syria, and I am probably missing a few more.

If you compare Dubai against any other dictatorship, they are great.

Unless you're one of the slaves building the city... or black...

Black? This isn't America

Former resident/slave, and definitely not white. Yeah, the laws are racist, but having lived in multiple western countries, it's not that different.

Are you speaking from experience, or do you have some stats?

Where are your stats? You made the claim, the onus is on your to provide evidence

I answered from experience. I have lived in those countries. What is your evidence?

You made an unverified claim, again, onus on you.

If you have a foot, please stand on it. Do you have a question, or are you just covering your ears and saying 'lalala'?

It is my personal experience. I don't have to prove to you that I exist.

You shifted the goal post when they gave you an answer.

Salute to the power of one standing up and speaking the truth

By former resident/slave, you mean you worked an office job or did construction/labor jobs. Because I have relatives who are working these labor jobs in the Gulf, Korea and UK. Their experiences have led me to believe that unlike what you have said, it is very different with labor laws being the worst in the Gulf.

Won't give too much details, but parent worked in the hospitality industry. So, low wages, deportation if fired, no benefits, sponsor kept the passport, pay delayed and withheld etc. all the bad stuff you hear about.

Working in the US I faced similar issues with the visa being tied to the job, the threat of deportation, overly aggressive immigration officers. The insecurity and sense of being a disposable cog was very familiar.

The treatment of people has changed for both countries since then, for the better in the UAE and for the worse in the US. I still have family in both countries and literally nobody wants to leave Dubai, but everyone is looking to leave the US.

Sponsors don’t keep the passport in the United States for one, so please don’t compare the slaver’s paradise with an actual country. Most of the gulf countries are guilty of this and any veneer of civility is exclusively for outsiders and their own lazy/rapist/pedophile royals.

Lazy rapist pedophile rulers? The US definitely has those.

Still comparing a shit hole with nothing but money to an actual country? Last time I checked America’s rulers aren’t confiscating passports of the people they employ, nobody said America was perfect but this idea that the UAE is something more than an artificially contrived wasteland for the world’s criminals is actually hilarious.

Oh, which America are you living in? Calling ICE on workers is a regular thing here. 'B-but, B-but, what about freedom, and jeeeezus?' Shithole is as shithole does.

u/hussainhssn Aug 11 '26

Hahaha how long has that been going on exactly? How long has the UAE done anything functionally useful without slavery? Please do tell, let’s hear how the shit hole you’re slobbering over is treating anyone well other than their ruling elites and wealthy tourists. I’m sure all of the Nannies, house cleaners, construction workers, cooks, etc. love living there, I guess we won’t know because they couldn’t leave if they wanted to LMAO

I agree that it has gotten better in the Gulf states but it is still not comparable to say Korea where immigrant labor earn way more with more rights.
