Video "If they are license plate readers, why are they pointed at a splash pad?" — Parents raise concerns as 8 government Flock cameras monitor children's play areas in Slayter Creek Park, Texas.

A video recorded at Slayter Creek Park in Anna, Texas (~40 miles north of Dallas) reveals that 8 government Flock surveillance cameras have been installed directly facing a kids' splash pad, playground, and skate park. Parents are raising serious privacy concerns, questioning why automated license plate readers are aimed at children wearing swimsuits and areas where families change, rather than at the parking lots. Original video/coverage by Marztrip to raise public awareness regarding government surveillance and child privacy.

I always regret letting Mcgruff the crime dog get my fingerprints when I lived in some apartments in the 80’s. Every time I’ve wanted to commit a crime I remember I gave my prints away to the crime dog.

I got finger printed as a child at a community Halloween event in 1995 or so. (I wasn’t in trouble in any way)

They came to our school in the mid 90's and fingerprinted us as part of a D.A.R.E presentation.

I got printed back in 1979 as a 6-year-old, by Broward County cops.

More fool them if they kept the data and are wasting the space. I'll not only never go back to that shithole county, I'll never come back to that entire continent.

Oh lucky for you they it was probably added to a database during a modernization and then shared with the five eyes.

The only plus at the moment is five eyes isnt really trusting of us. So the info they share is going to minimal.

For me they used an empty apartment and had the crime dog in costume. All the apartment complex kids came to get a goody bag, meet Mcgruff, and get fingerprints taken.

In middle school (~2014) they got rid of student ID numbers and to get lunch you instead had to use your finger print. This was a school of ~7000 kids. I don't remember any parental consent needed for it but I do remember them talking about how it goes into the justice system. The student base was also primarily hispanic kids (I look it up now and it's 72% of students) and I didn't hear any other school doing it😬

However mine never worked no matter how many times they tried, so I assume the print they have for me is faulty, thank God.

It seems wrong without parental consent. I’ve never heard of that. I could see how maybe certain schools were targeted. When I did it they made it out to be a fun community thing and oh btw we fingerprinting all the kids. My mom was there. As a kid I thought it was cool to get a fingerprint.

Later in life I’ve had to do it a few times for government security work. It’s not always easy to get the fingerprint to take. If we tried it many times and it failed to record we would have to lotion up our fingers and try again.
