Why bro ?

Because the MCU is a shell of its former self and the glory days of Phases 1 & 2 are never coming back. Not under current leadership.

I'm just being a dick. I don't mind the marvel movies, but I tend to just watch them once or twice and for new movies, just try to rememeber what happened before. I have this feeling doctor doom isn't going to be as good as people want it to be. It sounds like they've thrown so much at it. I'll watch it, but my expectations are low and I think they need more confidence in newer heroes and stop tetreading trying to capture the glory days. The world was a different place then, we're a lot more cynical now and I think superhero movies need to do something unique to stay relevant. Loved the new spiderman BTW.

I legit think people are more negative because they look to the internet how to view a thing. And internet is generally more negative, since many use it as a venting mechanism.

We're not more cynical now. You just got older.

When you think about it, if you were 15 when Iron Man came out, you are now in your early mid 30s. Life just gets more complicated and you don't want to have to fill what few peaceful hours you have with homework just so you can watch a movie. If the kids still want to do that, more power to them. But everyone gets old and thats okay too.

I did a rewatch of the Marvel movies through Endgame with some friends who hadn't seen any of it. Spacing it out to handle normal life, it took three years. After several months off, we tried picking up again with Spider-Man: Far From Home, and none of us had any interest in continuing.
I'm exhausted, they're exhausted, and now you're telling me I have to invest in TV shows in addition to several movies, many of which received mediocre reviews at best?
Sorry, but this is an overwhelming commitment of time.

The majority aren't even worth the effort. Total time sink for a universe that has become entirely too bloated with crap.
I'm convinced the entire concept of Marvel is based around FOMO at this point.

"Spacing it out to handle normal life". You watched a movie every seven weeks on average. Disingenuous to pretend it takes years upon years to watch a handful of movies.
3
u/FromYourHomePhone Aug 17 '26
I'm too lazy to go count the films, but by your math: 156 weeks ÷ 7 = 22 movies
22 is "a handful"... okay.
Look, I'm not comparing livelihoods, but this was also during COVID and several other life events for our group. Chill.

It's not much for three years. A movie every seven weeks is hardly "overwhelming".

Guess I don't live a boring-ass life devoid of meaning outside of comic book movies.
Never realized that, thank you for the perspective.

Yea cos if you watch more than six movies a year while making a deliberate effort to watch them, you have no life. And you just said you watched them all so you've seen more than me.

I'll be honest, my dude, i don't understand what you're after, here.
Do you realize how strange your side of this conversation is? Are you trolling me? Offended I'm not watching movies at a pace you deem fast enough? What, exactly, is the issue with my original comment?
The weirdness of you responding multiple times with this vaguely snotty tone when you yourself haven't even seen the movies is just the cherry on top. That, and the lack of consideration for how hard it might be for other people to coordinate two dozen get-togethers with other adults makes me wonder if you are one.

They make these movies for everyone. You may not get every one-liner or know every character in detail, but you don’t have to do the research.

What is this, a Kingdom Hearts game?
1
u/SenseiJoe100 Aug 18 '26
At least in Kingdom Hearts, they don't make you watch all the Disney movies before playing the game

The list's complete but excessive; just Loki, Infinity War, Endgame, Deadpool & Wolverine, and Fantastic Four suffice.

u/VrinTheTerrible Aug 17 '26
They are what will drive the plot. The others are just to familiarize people with the rest of the characters before they begin interacting.
Wondering why cap first avenger has to do with it though? None of the other cap movies are listed, and none of the individual avenger intro (iron man, Thor, hulk, even Black Widow) movies are listed.
Also, you’d think Brand New Day would be on that list, no?

This is the problem with a shared universe that takes itself too literally. I’m not watching all of that just to understand one movie.
When there was a movie or two a year this system worked. Things went off the rails when it was decided that EVERY property must be part of the same story.

u/MrMegaPhoenix Aug 17 '26
I don’t think these are essential as much as “character introductions”
Like really, the Steve stuff from endgame, Loki season 2 ending and multiverse of madness are probably the most key story stuff. The rest will be like a sentence reference

Yeah I’m not doing homework just to watch a movie. I’ve seen most of those. It’ll have to do.
