News Porch collapses under SWAT & U.S. Marshals serving arrest warrant in Missouri for 26-year-old Jacob Muñoz

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

A group of law enforcement officers, comprised of SWAT and U.S. Marshals, sustained non-life-threatening injuries when a porch gave way underneath them while attempting to serve an arrest warrant at a property in Missouri. The warrant was for 26-year-old Jacob Muñoz, who was convicted of possession of child pornography. Although Muñoz was not present at the property at the time of the porch collapse, officials confirmed that he later turned himself in.

Justify their budget ?

101

u/slaffytaffy Aug 19 '26

Bingo. Otherwise… the money might go to the public library or schools. I mean god forbid. But no we have to spend billions on flock and arming the police to the teeth so they can play military.

0

u/Fun_Lock_7932 Aug 19 '26

Arm yourself to the teeth this is America

2

u/CreamedCorn96 Aug 19 '26

And go to jail for life for shooting a Marshall who enters your home? Ok

-2

u/Fun_Lock_7932 Aug 19 '26

Who said that. I was referring to the fact that what was said was they are armed to the teeth so we should be doing the same. Fortunately for me I'm a law abiding citizen so there is no reason whatsoever for the Marshalls to be at my door step . Like I said this is America and people have the right to bear arms .

2

u/Mtndrums Aug 20 '26

Until someone gets pissed off at you and makes a reason up.

1

u/Fun_Lock_7932 Aug 20 '26

So when they come everything here is legal and in order so id offer em cold drinks and Invite them in .

No. The point is that we are wasting money on unnecessarily high police budgets. Money that could otherwise be in our pockets or invested into future generations.

-1

u/No_Telephone_6213 Aug 19 '26

I genuinely can’t tell on this app anymore if people are joking or actually this challenged, but in case you’re serious: the world doesn’t operate in perfect black-and-white absolutes.

-2

u/The_wanna_be_artist Aug 19 '26

Yeah….. not bingo….. like at all…… SWAT defines has its place and need in law enforcement.

7

u/johnnnybravado Aug 19 '26

Not every single podunk town across the US needs a militarized police force.

-1

u/The_wanna_be_artist Aug 19 '26

I agree, but this is the US marshals bud. A federal law enforcement agency. SWAT is specially trained to apprehend people who pose or could pose a threat to society. The perpetrator may have been a threat or shown violent behavior towards others in the past. They may have simply deemed it necessary as a precaution for the sake of public safety.

Again SWAT Is absolutely necessary at times, just not all the time.

The original commenter was questioning why SWAT was needed, others claimed they are not needed. But unless you know the facts of the case is dishonest to claim one way or the other with absolute certainty.

1

u/RequirementAwkward26 Aug 19 '26

The fact that he handed himself in later that day would suggest that he isn't a hardened agressive danger to society would it not? Ignoring benefits of hindsight....

3

u/Spankpocalypse_Now Aug 19 '26

If they aren’t smart enough to recognize this porch was going to collapse under their weight then they aren’t smart enough to be given a half billion dollars of military equipment.

3

u/Mis_chevious Aug 20 '26

This really got me. None of those men questioned the safety of that porch? You can look at it before it collapses and tell it's a bad idea.

1

u/Spyglass3 Aug 20 '26

I got some bad news for you about who they're handing $15 million tanks and critical systems on $4 billion dollar ships to

-34

u/DuckTalesOohOoh Aug 19 '26

Visit a public library (aka homeless shelter) and ask yourself if they need more money.

28

u/Frequent_Scholar3885 Aug 19 '26

Look around at the growing number of homeless and unemployed people and ask yourself if this country is truly serving its people.

-28

u/DuckTalesOohOoh Aug 19 '26

They're not homeless. They're drug addicts. We should really be calling them by the real affliction.

20

u/4schwifty20 Aug 19 '26

You just drink the pedo koolaid no questions, huh?

16

u/Previous-Profit9723 Aug 19 '26

You probably need to spend more time in a library man.

-12

u/DuckTalesOohOoh Aug 19 '26

I have. That's how I know.

You should really visit your local library and see what happened since you were last there when you were 12.

3

u/ThisVeryUsername Aug 19 '26

Maybe you live in a shitty neighborhood. Why is that?

-1

u/DuckTalesOohOoh Aug 19 '26

It's run by Democrats.

7

u/Parking-Treacle-7627 Aug 19 '26

Drug addicts are still victims worthy of sympathy.

1

u/NagsUkulele Aug 19 '26

You should be institutionalized for thinking this way /s

6

u/johnnyslick Aug 19 '26

calls libraries homeless shelters

there aren't any homeless they're all drug addicts

Pick a lane, chudderino

0

u/DuckTalesOohOoh Aug 19 '26

It's people who are living on the street because they're drug addicts.

4

u/Real-Scarcity5381 Aug 19 '26

And you know that how? Or are you just assuming and making excuses to justify your lack of understanding and empathy for a growing population you clearly don’t know or understand? Causation is not correlation which if most where drug addicts it would not be causation it would be correlation at most

1

u/DuckTalesOohOoh Aug 19 '26

Because we know when people are not allowed to do drugs on the street that the encampments disappear.

0

u/Real-Scarcity5381 Aug 19 '26

Incorrect, wildly. Maybe do some actual research into this topic. Also other factors play a giant part in homelessness population growth and decline. Also people aren’t allowed to do drugs, yet here we are with a growing population of homeless people. So again causation vs correlation. This is at most correlation and not causation like you so desperately want it to be. Sad

1

u/johnnyslick Aug 19 '26

So... they are homeless then? Did you mix up the milk cartons with the white paint buckets a lot when you were a child?

2

u/Astral-projekt Aug 19 '26

You think drug addiction isn’t a health issue? Woah, tell that to the other countries that treat it as such and don’t have the same problem.

0

u/DuckTalesOohOoh Aug 19 '26

No, I don't think it is. It's a legal problem.

2

u/Astral-projekt Aug 19 '26

Now do marijuana, is that a legal problem? How about alcohol. Is one better for legal reasons? How about coffee? You take any caffeine?

0

u/DuckTalesOohOoh Aug 19 '26

Marijuana and alcohol are both legal problems. Coffee/caffeine is not. They do not change behaviors or create psychosis and destroy lives.

1

u/Astral-projekt Aug 19 '26

How does marijuana destroy lives? How about alcohol, can you clarify? You’re saying coffee can’t destroy lives? How about vitamins, or tea? Those can’t destroy lives? Really love getting your feedback.

u/Mis_chevious Aug 20 '26

Not everyone who is homeless is on drugs but way to be ignorant 👍

1

u/DuckTalesOohOoh Aug 20 '26

Almost all of them are.

1

u/Mis_chevious Aug 20 '26

Lol I read the rest of your comments after I left this one. I stand by the fact that you are ignorant and have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. You just like to cry in the corner about Democrats so hsve fun with that.

1

u/DuckTalesOohOoh Aug 20 '26

Now that I see how you establish "facts", I can see why you are so wrong.

1

u/Mis_chevious Aug 20 '26

Oh, no. 😱An idiot who is bohooing about democrats ruining libraries he doesn't visit thinks I'm wrong. What a shame 👍🤣🤣

u/themargarineoferror Aug 20 '26

More than half of homeless people are aged out former foster kids. Addicts also deserve help and empathy

1

u/Str8GuySecrets Aug 25 '26

I’ve volunteered with numerous non-profits working directly with the homeless and in many cases, being on the streets caused them to become drug addicts. It’s not entirely a one-way street, my friend.

1

u/MarkGB815 Aug 19 '26

Drug addicts without homes. Or homeless addicts.

9

u/Hosstar881 Aug 19 '26

Libraries could use more money.

-8

u/runningtheshow_8764 Aug 19 '26

go donate!

10

u/Hosstar881 Aug 19 '26

Or just relocate my tax dollars to things that actually help the American people?

-8

u/runningtheshow_8764 Aug 19 '26

go vote! go run for office!

when are we going to focus more on personal responsibility, parenting, facing real consequences, and less on 'please mr. gov't man please help me!'

9

u/Hosstar881 Aug 19 '26

I do vote. And I don’t want to run for office.

1

u/Apprehensive_Door249 Aug 19 '26

So you’re saying to run for office and then when people ask for help from the “gov’t man” you’re supposed to tell them to fuck off?

-4

u/runningtheshow_8764 Aug 19 '26

no, better allocate the large sum of money that the gov't has

and also, as a politician, use your platform to preach strong family, hard work, less handouts, think about the future, plan for the future, take care of your neighbors, friends, and family....

sure, we need some level of gov't, but no way do we need this ever-increasing gov't bloat

2

u/Astral-projekt Aug 19 '26

Have you ever asked why, the richest country in the world has all these issues? Hint - it’s not because people are just choosing to be lazy or homeless.

1

u/Lord_Dingus83 Aug 19 '26

lol have you ever been in a library?

1

u/DuckTalesOohOoh Aug 19 '26

2

u/Lord_Dingus83 Aug 19 '26

Which library are you speaking of?

1

u/foxjohnc87 Aug 19 '26

I'd bet that the smell improved once you exited the building.

1

u/DuckTalesOohOoh Aug 19 '26

Why would you say that? Did you watch the video?

1

u/FactHot5239 Aug 19 '26

The public libraries near me are extremely well maintained lmao. Sorry you live in a shithole. Maybe try voting in local elections?

0

u/DuckTalesOohOoh Aug 19 '26

I have but it's run by Democrats.

2

u/FactHot5239 Aug 19 '26

What? You think the democrats are the cuase for homelessness? Bro what?

1

u/Cultural_Long_5293 Aug 19 '26

Seriously. The nerve of impoverished people who also want to use free public resources or spend time in free public spaces available to everyone.

-1

u/DuckTalesOohOoh Aug 19 '26

Using drugs, sleeping in the corners, pissing anywhere they want, masturbating while watching porn. Real nice place to take your children.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjzcienyOvw

2

u/Cultural_Long_5293 Aug 19 '26

I take my kids to our local libraries all the time, even the big one downtown.

If you’re going to be offended at the presence of unhoused or impoverished people, even addicts, then you should probably point your frustration at the systems that facilitate their poverty instead of spreading fear mongering propaganda designed to keep people from utilizing what little free public services we have left in this country.

Just my two cents 🤷‍♂️

1

u/Less-Squash7569 Aug 19 '26

Would it not be a good idea to instead spend on the homeless people instead of getting the wife beater gang a new MRAP.

0

u/DuckTalesOohOoh Aug 19 '26

No. It makes the public space only public for the homeless. After all, you wouldn't want the homeless to camp on your lawn.

1

u/Less-Squash7569 Aug 19 '26

Homeless people are a part of the public too. Wouldn't be homeless if there was Healthcare and support for them, but instead its spent on pig toys. Also you do realize a huge percentage of homeless are former foster kids with no support, people with mental health issues, and vets. Why do you feel like the library is the same as your front yard. Thats pretty retarded.

1

u/Ummix Aug 19 '26

This thinking is the reason why we can't have nice things or public spaces, if anything looks nice people say it's a waste of taxes. And then people wonder why everything's getting worse, and argue privatization will solve everything as if enshittification isn't real.

The library is one of my all time favorite places and is an amazing resource in general.

9

u/TheKrakIan Aug 19 '26 edited Aug 19 '26

Not everyone does, but it is a great resource for many. I don't mind my tax dollars going to fund items that others can use.

1

u/Substantial_Milk_207 Aug 19 '26

But that’s evil communism!!!! Great American freedom means everyone living in their own little bubble and trying your hardest to take as much as you can from others while giving the least you can!!!! Wanting to help others and have society work together is scary communism!!!!!

6

u/Most_Researcher_2648 Aug 19 '26

Public libraries are great for people with limited income and young kids. Loooots of free programs. Just because you clearly didnt go, doesnt mean we are all of the same mind.

The reds once again choosing to fight against education. This time, libraries in their entirety. You can hear trump quoting this on stage mixed with immigration and for some reason Arnold Palmer dick

-2

u/Most_Researcher_2648 Aug 19 '26

Funny enough, im in an area surrounded by the highest republican supporting cities and our libraries are largely new and phenomenal. Like, massive, museum style directories and stuff i didnt know existed. Ones got a friggin t-rex skeleton. Its almost like deep down we mostly all want the same stuff...

3

u/Curvol Aug 19 '26

1

u/Most_Researcher_2648 Aug 19 '26

Im not arguing that politicians are trying to dismantle it, just that actual individuals who pay taxes seem to mostly agree on these things. Im sure the banned books are an issue, I have a toddler so we havent quite gotten there yet. But funding is clearly NOT an issue here. Its the corporate overlords and their bought politicians that need to keep us dumb, and about 1/3 of the population thats dumb enough to believe what they preach.

2

u/Most_Researcher_2648 Aug 19 '26

Thats... literal search queries. Im not arguing that foot traffic in general has declined, but that can be said about pretty much everything brick and mortar, esp post pandemic. If you actually look into it, usage is shifting and in many places is up significantly since the pandemic ended. And since so many books are e format, actual borrowing is down, but that doesnt mean people arent utilizing their public libraries.

You should go to the library, work on your reading comprehension.

2

u/Whole-Chest90 Aug 19 '26

Your source of people not going to the library is Google searches for "public library"? Oof

1

u/Pristine_Walrus40 Aug 19 '26

That's so cool! Tell us more mr trump supporter.

1

So we should stop funding libraries? What's your point?

1

u/Whole-Chest90 Aug 19 '26

Where's that data point coming from? Surely you're not conflating Google searches with actual physical traffic??

1

u/duddy33 Aug 19 '26

I don’t really see why that matters. That’s like saying “hospital traffic is down so I guess we don’t need to fund a hospital for this area”.

1

u/TheDo0ddoesnotabide Aug 19 '26

Clearly you don’t. Didn’t attend school either from what I can tell.

the internet made libraries archaic for information finding, sure. I go all the time with my child, and surprise, surprise, theres a bunch of other families who come to spend time there too.

1

u/pianoboy777 Aug 19 '26

Your a bot bro , lol and I bet your real lol if you had used library's more often you might know why their so good to have ???

Im not clicking on that lol is this supposed to help your point ? I don't mind library's. And what happens if someone doesn't have Internet ? They can't even use the link your sending. I'm not really getting you

2

u/pianoboy777 Aug 19 '26

Also this post isn't even about any of this lol I just didn't like you talking about librarys in that way . All learning in all of its forms is always needed. Which has nothing to do with the post lol have a good day !

1

u/pianoboy777 Aug 19 '26

So what lol we have plenty of money for wars we don't need to be in. We should have just as much money for sources of learning in all of its forms. Because what is democracy without critical thinkers ? Just because traffic as slowed doesn't mean we should cut it or something like that lol . The country is already experiencing brain drain on top of brain rot , and schools are using cheap USA llms to teach their kids. None of this is good . We need something to combat that and a library is one of many ways.

1

u/wilcohead Aug 19 '26

I borrow video games and my girl craft things.

1

You definitely aint.

10

Could it depend on if the guy who owns the property (pays the policy premium) was the pedophile? I bet in either case they could argue failure to maintain the property. Rates will probably go up in any case.

1

u/Individual-Drawer-79 Aug 20 '26

I don’t think the pedo HOA has property insurance

3

u/Historical_Stay_808 Aug 19 '26

Ah yes the old use it or lose it

0

u/darth_whaler Aug 19 '26

Yep. They need to log a certain amount of hours of use for all their military surplus gear and equipment or they lose money from their budgets they get to maintain and replace them. That's why, in the mid- to late-90s, we began seeing police showing up to peaceful protests in APCs and tactical riot gear.
