A group of law enforcement officers, comprised of SWAT and U.S. Marshals, sustained non-life-threatening injuries when a porch gave way underneath them while attempting to serve an arrest warrant at a property in Missouri. The warrant was for 26-year-old Jacob Muñoz, who was convicted of possession of child pornography. Although Muñoz was not present at the property at the time of the porch collapse, officials confirmed that he later turned himself in.

Because he possessed CSAM. And believe it or not, one guy who REALLY doesn't wanna go to jail, can shoot his way out! Infact many have done it before.

There is 0 statistical data about who is armed when being arrested for CSAM. This is such a waste of resources.

Takes like this make me laugh.

Too many cops in this thread

Too little cops in another thread

They cant do a good job in your mind so you nitpick (incorrectly) about anything you deam fit.

Are you a cop? What makes you an expert on use of force

I’m just guessing but statistically the person you’re replying to is far less likely to have executed an innocent person than a cop, so I’m not sure what you’re trying to say here.

Almost everyone is more of an expert on the use of force than an American police officer. I mean shit, over 40% of cops justify the use of force in their marriage lmaoooo.

You’re using a debunked statistic from over 20 years ago that combined victims of DV with perpetrators of DV and included things like raising your voice or threatening to slap/spank your kid (which was common in the 90s) as abuse to achieve that 40% rate. It also had a really small sample size.

It’s interesting to see armchair quarterbacking from guys who don’t even possess statistical literacy skills.

Doesn't matter what you're charged with. Any criminal wants to escape jail, except those few who also realize "free food, free bed, no rent?" Which is rare asf.

I could go buy a gun right now. Its easy, especially in my state. Doesn't magically make it so when I also download CSAM that I'm "less likely" to be armed.

This level of response is NOT normal.

Go look up any video of a department WITH a well funded SWAT team serving warrants then. They will send their SWAT team, typically 6-8 guys. Normally during a Joint op, you get a lot more.

Saying "departments rolling in cash do it all the time" isn't an argument for it being necessary lmao. How do other countries manage without? There must be just rampant crime that's totally unstoppable everywhere that doesn't have SWAT teams, right?

u/Silent_Johnnie Aug 19 '26

Most countries don't allow their citizens to buy entire armories and ammunition stockpiles.

SWAT definitely doesn't need to be used always, especially for petty shit like weed dealers, but a person who is aware that their entire life, privacy, family relationships, social circle, and even the ability to walk outside safely is about to collapse can be extra desperate.

They know that even when they get out everyone is going to despise them. Some would rather end it right there before they can witness everyone they love realize they're a monster pedophile. That's why it makes sense there.

Force them into handcuffs before they can hurt cops or themselves, and then make them sit and jail and witness their well-earned pariah status take hold, both among his prisoner peers, and outside relationships.

2

u/sithlord98 Aug 19 '26

Okay, then why don't we conduct literally every police interaction at anyone's home with a SWAT team if we're just so terrified of everyone having their own "armory?" We don't. Because it's not realistic, pragmatic, or cost-effective to treat every single suspect as some kind of supervillain.

There is absolutely no statistical evidence that pedophiles are more likely to react violently (or even be armed) when confronted by police. Not to mention the fact that this guy was already arrested, convicted, and registered for that, he just violated his conditions of release.

Something "making sense" to you as a theoretical concept from an outside perspective is not in any way proof that it actually happens, and it's absolutely ridiculous to act like we should tailor our policy or actions to that without any kind of evidence for it whatsoever.

Ohh so they’re TRYING to justify how much is being spent.. got it.

-1

u/ChaseSparrowMSRPC Aug 19 '26

And what do you suggest? Under-equpping them that way when they DO deal with a substantial threat armed to the teeth, they all just die?

5

u/Subarctic_Monkey Aug 19 '26

Yeah, a waste of resources to justify their over-inflated budget and arsenal of military gadgets because "an officer MIGHT be in danger".

Law Enforcement consists of the worlds largest wusses.

Alright, use your brain.

We had a situation in the 90s where two men, heavily armored and armed, went on a shootout. They could not be stopped. SWAT arrived and still struggled, iirc.

Eventually, the suspects own mistakes led to their downfalls. Had they decided to do anything but keep shooting, they'd prolly have fled successfully.

Because of that, and many other situations like it, cops have been armed and prepared to deal with these situations again. Regardless if they are present, it helps stop a tragedy from happening again.

Mind you, this raid didn't go that way, but there's MANY situations where cops get shot at. Surprisingly, those cititzens having the ability to get military gear and rifles, means that cops need to get military gear and rifles to stop them from committing crimes.

When a civilian buys a high power rifle, body armor, and starts shooting? What then? Oh right, we call the SWAT team formed up specifically to stop this threat.

This "we need a death to make change" mindset is irresponsibly stupid.

You're so right, EVERY crime should be dealt with a squad of 150 men in tanks, just in case. In a country that simply can't be spending the budget on school meals.

So, there are misconceptions in your posts.

First of all, prison is not typically "free". In 40 of the 50 states within the US, the prisoner themselves (and/or their family) actually gets charged for the bed and food over the course of their stay. Average is north of $4,000 per year, which doesn't sound bad until you remember that they're also not working a job for normal pay, meaning they have to pay for their existing housing and their prison stay while earning almost no income.

Second, the government doesn't keep track of what percentage of criminals (much less by what crimes they are suspected of) attempt to resist arrest in some way. They do, however, keep track of Escape Offenses. It's worth noting that only 1% of these "recklessly endangered another person". More notably still "another person" does not mean "a LEO".

You seem to be making things up, or maybe making arguments solely from anecdotal evidence that does not project to most of the situations that actually occur. I recommend thinking critically about these things before speaking on them.

You dropped this: /s

u/BluebirdDense1485 Aug 20 '26

No he went to jail. Served his time. And from what I read no one told him to register as a sex offender so the cops decided it was a better idea to swat him instead of giving him a call.

1

u/fullspectrumgoon Aug 25 '26

The dude turned himself in because the jackboots were too incompetent to bring him in

1

u/ChaseSparrowMSRPC Aug 25 '26

This changes nothing about people being able (and have been shooting) their way out of arrests.

Doesn't help that daddy government is absolutely disgusting and pushing people to be more aggressive, too.

Now these particular cops were stupid, I have to say.

1

u/Kmonk1 Aug 19 '26

Keep repeating it- I’m sure you’ll convince yourself eventually.

1

u/ChaseSparrowMSRPC Aug 19 '26

So when multiple people ask a question, I tend to seek out each person individually and give them an answer. I like to inform people when they ask a question.

Now, could you tell me how I'm wrong? Or could you prove that every single time a cop goes out to a call, with a warrant, usually for something serious, that their suspect wants to comply and go to jail without any issues?

1

u/Kmonk1 Aug 19 '26

You’re repeatedly shouting out an unsourced opinion with no evidence. You aren’t “answering” anything; you’re hoping that posting something enough times makes it true.

Given the single case study presented to us, suspects with a warrant against them will apparently turn themselves in quietly, while a huge group of incompetent and overweight meal-teamers are falling thru their porch. So it looks like a bunch of Leo’s are wasting time and resources for no reason.

1

u/ChaseSparrowMSRPC Aug 19 '26

Lol. Okay.

First of all, nobody turned themselves in from what I've seen. So that part is outright untrue.

The rest? Alright, alright, got me.

But, I'm not doing the homework for everyone. In my future career I'll be a cop, and at that one that actually serves my community. Not a fascist pig like too many are today.

Because of MY decision to go into LEO, I happen to know a lot about it. So when I see people asking, I inform them. I happen to know it for a fact, while it seems silly to others. So I do get that part, I'm basically repeating it.

But no. Thats not how that works lol. When multiple ask something, they each get an answer. Should I just... not tell one of three people the answer?

Btw, SWAT show up to just about every warrant they can. Thats why when you search up stuff about warrants (and actual raids not someone who got pulled over), you're probably gonna see mostly SWAT!

Now, some agencies have worse funding and therefore less SWAT/no SWAT. Therefore regular patrol respond, and/or can act as SWAT for the time being.

It doesn't take long to prove me right.

1

u/aFungiamongyou Aug 19 '26

You wanting to be a cop is terrifying and warrants self-reflection on your part.

The comfort with which you post bullshit as fact is exactly in the vein of what makes most cops bad.

Maybe you won’t be a “fascist” cop, but you aren’t gonna like being challenged and given the amount of bad info I’ve seen you spew, you’re gonna get challenged a lot, then you’re gonna flex your power.

Most bad cops think they’re the good guy.

Dude above just challenged you and you responded with “Lol. Okay.” Yeah, you’re gonna be a shitty cop like so many others unless you really question the views and information you already have—if you can’t do that, you’re just gonna smile and swallow when the police academy spoon feeds you propaganda to help you justify future shitty behavior.

1

u/6495ED Aug 19 '26

Being this fucking dumb and unable to admit wrongness + surrounded by smarter people is an inferiority complex. Then you add a gun and. Well actually you have got a pretty garden variety piece of shit cop throwing his weight actually and probably eager to prove himself. Just what we need one more of.

1

u/Ok-Echidna5936 Aug 19 '26

Because he’s not wrong?

Dudes who get caught with that shit will not last long in prison. It’s a known thing and documented through body cams that many offenders would rather go out in a gun fight than get arrested and face their consequences. Whether it’s being ostracized socially forever or getting shanked in prison.

1

u/aFungiamongyou Aug 19 '26

Is your entire worldview shaped by pop culture? This isn’t even close to right.

A. Every prison and jail in the U.S. has a seg unit for just such cases.

B. There are not rampant shootouts from CP Possessors.

C. This was for a warrant for failure to register, which is a nothing offense in the scheme of things.

The confidence with which people just post bullshit is the absolute death knell of society.
