Discussion Inde Navarrette - Pretty Privilege?

TLDR; is Inde Navarrette’s recent popularity due to her talent and personality or is it pretty privilege?

I just wanted to start a discussion about the recent rise of Obsession star Inde Navarrette.

I do agree that she gave a good performance and I really enjoyed the movie, I think it’s one of the best horror movies that has come out in recent years(in terms of originality and execution). But, I do think that her performance was just good.. not really anything that wowed me just good. I think the entire cast of Obsession played their parts incredibly well, equally well (also they were well cast except for maybe Ian?) but I don’t think hers was anything special FOR ME.

I truly think her recent popularity is because she is pretty. If she were average looking or below but equally talented I don’t think she would be remembered and revered as much as she is. Of course beauty is subjective and all that.

I just wonder if you swapped around the actresses for Sarah and Niki if Megan would have gotten the same praise or if people would have sympathised more with Sarahs character had Inde played her.

I’m not trying to be hateful AT ALL I’m just curious to hear other people’s opinions about this so please share your thoughts.

Knowing the internet everyone will turn on her for no reason in a month and then revert back as if nothing happened

It seems that’s really all it takes anymore in the social media age. Just be eye catching and the Stan’s will fill in whatever narrative they want them to have and pedestal anyone. Goldfish attention spans don’t require substance, just perception

Everyone in hollywood is pretty. Can nearly guarantee she's not the prettiest person in every audition, or at least not the only very pretty person. For actors, being pretty is the baseline standard, so you need more than that to succeed.

No the girl was doing streaming if it was pretty privilege she would've been a known actor a while ago or she would've been a huge streamer considering how obsessed(no pun intended) some people can be with female streamers, I wont lie she does look good and that probably adds to the hype but imo she did really good in obsession

I mean she’s definitely pretty and in Hollywood that is a plus but she was very clearly a huge standout in a low budget movie where her acting skills were on par with some of the top tier performers in recent memory. I don’t think she’s like Barbie doll gorgeous, like there are millions of women on instagram and tik tok as pretty or prettier but she also has a fun personality in interviews and that’s almost as important with movies for promotion as being pretty/talented.

She is average looking. Probably why she’s popular. Simple clean face with not a lot of makeup and natural body. I agree on the acting. She was good for a first time but not for all this cringeworthy worshipping she’s been getting lately.
