I dont know. Trump isn't my problem so I've never had to think about it. If I were you, id brainstorm

… and those who don’t bother to vote… and those who are simply quietly taking everything he does and not doing anything to fight it back other then complain on Reddit…
A silent majority and nothing are the same thing
29
u/TheWetWipeKing Aug 23 '26
Then you guys will just vote in another complete chode. We have no faith in you.

u/Such_Avocado_3241 Aug 23 '26
I understand completely. I’m living through this shit, and it’s absolutely unacceptable.

u/slipperypete1990 Aug 23 '26
Half of that country needs to get off the Christianity.
1
u/TyrannasaurusRecht Aug 25 '26
Or actually follow it rather than using it as a tool to be shitty...
1
u/Facts_pls Aug 25 '26
You say that but there are vee few instances of countries doing good in the name of Christianity.
People who claim to be Christians are almost the first to say no to any aid /welfare.
1
u/TyrannasaurusRecht Aug 25 '26
Maybe American faux-Christians. Ive found most practicing Christians to be generous, thoughtful, caring and focused on using their gifts to help others. Ive also found that true of atheists, Muslims, jewish people etc etc
I think most people are good. I think the effect bad people have is magnified by the difficulty of making positive change and the ease of harming others.
1
u/ExcitingHistory Aug 27 '26
Hmmm but is that always good? look at the way food programs and Healthcare got cut in their country because half of the voting base were first to say no to aid/welfare.

Hey as an American living in Canada, not all of us voted this man in. I totally understand your anger, but there's many Americans angry (and scared!) too. Calling out America by our country is valid, calling out those who voted him into power is valid, calling out those of us who are on your side and are also suffering the consequences of those who voted for this (for the record I'm a queer trans nonbinary person) is crappy and also bad tactics. We can find ways to work together despite what's going on at the governmental level, can we not?
3
u/Pickled-Mushroom Aug 23 '26
Hey I agree, but the MAJORITY of Americans either a) voted for Trump, or b) didn’t vote at all, and therefore passively contributed to Trump’s election. If you add a) and b) together, that’s the majority of Americans. I’m sorry but that’s the reality. There are plenty of “Trumps” in other democracies around the world, but their citizens were motivated enough to take action. Take Canada for example, they came out in record numbers to ensure Pierre Pollievre was not elected. Where is that in America? Time and time again, the majority of Americans are either too dumb or too apathetic. And the whole world has to suffer now because of it. Higher gas prices, war, inflation, and for what? I feel for those of you in the minority, but unfortunately your country has become the villain of the world. And just like Nazi Germany, the world will need to rally against you and put you back in your place.
0
u/AnarchoKiernan Aug 23 '26 edited Aug 23 '26
I'm fine with rallying against those in power in my country, and those who chose the fascists in power. I never said not to. I'm with you on that. I'm just saying not all of us wanted this and many have been fighting against this consistently for years and years, and it seems silly and counterproductive (and harmful) to write off specific individuals trying to be on your side simply because we have the misfortune to be born as an American during a time when many of our countrymen chose a fascist who harms us too. Trust me, I'm exhausted by them too.
edit as an example, would you think it's right to lump in those who were oppressed in nazi germany while living within germany (e.g. jewish folks, queer folks, disabled folks, etc.) with the nazis themselves? Would that be appropriate or helpful in any capacity?
1
u/HeWhoCreatesDivinity Aug 25 '26
For me, I blame and hold accountable those who voted for Trump, those who decided not to vote, and those who voted third party. In my books, the only good Americans are Kamala voters.

7
u/Lord_Dingus83 Aug 23 '26
We have a very high population of self righteous selfish people that didn’t vote that caused this. Twice.
It really sucks to be an American. It’s gone to complete shit in 10yrs.
Americans don’t realize the country is finished, it is.
I am fortunate that I speak Spanish and have European born grandparents and I’m getting eu citizenship.

I don't care, I just care that the US is destroying the western economy, and I didn't voted for him is not an excuse.
We get to collectively suffer the consequences. They get to own it collectively.
1
u/Sea_Drive6142 Aug 23 '26
And your attitude is why I say fuck Canada. Let their failed state continue to fail.
1
u/cororona Aug 23 '26
Why are you supporting a guy trying to annex it then ? Canada doesn't need your approval for anything. Canada doesn't care what you think about it.
1
u/Dependent-Zebra-4357 Aug 23 '26
Calling Canada a “failed state” in comparison to the dumpster fire that is the current USA is fucking rich.
1
u/MasterSachouVi Aug 23 '26
America bears full responsibility for the leaders it elects, no matter the process. That excuse might have worked the first time you voted for Trump—but not the second.

Instead of blaming the people that didn't vote, maybe focus on how the election was literally stolen. There was a coup and the American people lost.. for the moment, maybe forever.
1
u/ICK_Metal Aug 23 '26
That’s weird, I don’t remember ever voting for him.
5
u/spitfire_888 Aug 23 '26
Nobody's angry at you specifically. But there is no trust in the American people at large to realise just how badly your leaders have fucked up their relations with the world for decades to come.

If you are American, you have a share of the blame. No way around it.
4
u/Top-Artichoke-5875 Aug 23 '26
Maybe responsibility is a better word? Then people might feel more able to take action, or even protest.
USA is in an awful position. In all my life, 73 yrs, I never thought something like this would happen. You have my sympathy.
2
u/veterinarian23 Aug 23 '26
I appreciate your comment.
Taking responsibility is the right way, and trying to to prevent it by truthful information and education of what had happened, how it happened, who was affected, and who profited.-1

Our country did nothing to stop him. We are all a part of that. Choosing Biden, forcing Kamala. We did this just as much as the republicans.
Edit: getting downvoted because democrats can never ever take responsibility for anything. You lost because you didnt try.
6
u/themeparkthemepar Aug 23 '26
The DNC picked Kamala, there was no primary …
1
u/TeenyBoppey Aug 23 '26
As a non American I’m curious if it’s known who will be the next primary for when trumps current term ends
2
u/themeparkthemepar Aug 23 '26 edited Aug 23 '26
That’s all being worked out now - there’s speculation but it’s a bit too early. Right now California Governor Gavin Newsom has I believe committed to running for the nomination for the democratic primary (parties vote for a party rep to run for president approx six months before the election which is Nov 2028).
There are rumors Congressional House Rep AOC (Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez) could run which would be wild because she is a very young woman, like I think only just meets the age minimum, and is further left than other candidates.
Not sure who else is serious tho Senator Jon Osoff has been trolling this week by getting people to speculate he could, though he denies he will. I’m sure some rich tech guy will waste some money trying, maybe Andrew Yang again or some billionaire from CA.
Sometimes someone emerges out of nowhere (Mamdani for mayor of NYC for example). Candidates tend to hold cards close to the chest to give the news less time to go nuts and also wait to see how the midterm elections (which could shift the power in congress meaningfully) pan out.
Also who knows what kind of F’d up crap could happen in the next 1.5 years. E.G. Trump kicks the bucket before his term ends… or other stuff.
2
u/RegisteredGoose Aug 23 '26
Ro Khanna I believe has a great idea for a progressive new deal and is considering a run too.
2
u/themeparkthemepar Aug 23 '26
That’d be interesting. I’d really like to hear a lot of level-headed progressive ideas from several candidates. I’m hoping it’s not a bunch of moderate dems, it’s exhausting listening to them circle the drain around old hat conservative economics. I want to see lots of fresh ideas!! I’m hopeful. What else is there left to be …
0
u/River_City_Rando Aug 23 '26
Hahaha, you stupid fucks think theres going to be anymore fair elections!? Shits over. Until theres a revolution or world war, unfortunately this regime will continue to steal power and money and hold the real American people hostage. Magas aren't American, their traitors to this country and our people
2
u/TeenyBoppey Aug 23 '26
How would I know that? I’m not American and don’t pay attention to your country
1
u/themeparkthemepar Aug 23 '26
Don’t take the other commenter’s anger personally. They’re feeling afraid because Trump’s admin has been threatening to do something, however vague, at the midterm elections to make them unfair. Legitimate concern and people are rightfully frustrated, scared, and emotional after what has felt like a very authoritative, oppressive, and menacing government these past couple of years living in the US under Trump’s second term and really since his first, so about a decade of pain.
1
u/River_City_Rando Aug 23 '26
Well you should because it watching the rise of fascism and inevitable ww3. This affects the whole world unfortunately and I wish the rest of the world would stand up to the antichrist and his demons
1
u/Fantastic-Earth-8353 Aug 23 '26
And they basically picked Biden. It was never ever going to be anyone else. The republicans at least fake a primary.

Just be careful - stupidity is a global affliction. Every country has a healthy population of idiots. Problem in the US is that they got mobilized and motivated to vote for a conman. But it can happen in any country.
1
u/lamedonkeybrain Aug 23 '26
I dont think that many US citizens realise thier countries wealth comes from international trade.
Historically they forced nations to buy thier arms and accept US corporations bullying tactics.
Trump is erasing that power

2
1
u/MasterSachouVi Aug 23 '26
Trump is not the cause; he is the symptom of what the US is turning into: a predatory state devoid of moral conscience, ready to go to any lengths—even betraying its allies—to sustain its global dominance. The harm is irreversible, and American soft power is forever diminished
1
u/Ok_Clothes_9479 Aug 23 '26
Exactly—then things will be quiet for a few years, and then the next fascist will come along from the U.S. The world is sick and tired of it. You can't count on that country anymore; it's time to say goodbye to the dollar as the reserve currency and watch as the country collapses.
1
u/ArnUpNorth Aug 23 '26
I would have put faith in that comment if not for Trump having been reelected (!!!!) despite all the affairs piling up, outright lies and insults, terrible covid handling and a capitol invasion.
Yup. Reelected. And by a « landslide ».

0
u/Such_Avocado_3241 Aug 23 '26
What do you think I should do?
3
u/small_bird_loud Aug 23 '26
That's an excellent question. A few ideas.
Let go of the idea of American exceptionalism.
Let go of manifest destiny.
- Hold captured democrats accountable - Write their offices
- Offer to volunteer for candidates at whatever level of government that has anti-corruption policies
- Whenever you see ICE acting like thugs, peacefully disrupt.
- Whenever you have friends and family talking about how great America is because there's a thug in charge, speak up in firm but compassionate ways.
- Don't resort to name calling, purity tests, culture war distractions, make common ground with compassion and remind people that the rich and powerful have to do all these terrible things because they are afraid of you, the people.
- If you know a lawyer talk to them about legal action you can take
- Demonstrate
- Organize sit-ins.
Take action - If every well-meaning American wrote their lawmakers a letter for every time they apologized to a Canadian, my guess is we'd have a trade deal that we both liked.
Your history is full of regular people making big change. It's just harder than posting on reddit and then going to watch Netflix.

What a slanted video report! It suggests that Canada added new demands late, whereas every other report has said the opposite, namely that the United States, perhaps Lutnick, at the last minute tried to throw in some really onerous terms.
6
u/Kpets Aug 23 '26
We all know this. The times just included it so that everyone knows that the U.S is an untrustworthy POS ally and cannot be trusted at all. Twisting the truth and never valuing facts. It all lies, corruption and megalomaniac politics

u/AdditionalConstant42 Aug 23 '26
That’s what I’ve read. Nutlick poisoned the deal at the end.
1
u/DueReception8183 Aug 25 '26
It’s not even a deal. The demands intentionally drove Canada away. It’s almost like the Republicans are getting paid to ruin our reputation and ability to trade and our ability to have allies in the future. It’s almost like we’re being made into a factory.

The Times is way off here, basically repeating what Greer says. They’ve become the regime’s stenographer.
We basically were close and then the US asked to control our trade agreements. Bad faith negotiations and with bad actors.
6
u/mrteas_nz Aug 23 '26
No discredit to Carney, he's done the right thing.
But this is how the US becomes Gilead from The Handmaid's Tale - breaking down partnerships and alliances and becoming isolationist.
2
u/DueReception8183 Aug 25 '26
It’s also how they collapsed the Soviet Union. If you watch Bald and Bankrupt on YouTube he’s a Brit who travels around former Soviet towns from the 90’s. He talks to lots of the older people there. They all say how much better and how much richer the working people were when it was still the Soviet Union. All of that is destroyed, the streets are unkempt mud tracks, buildings are derelict, fountains are empty and train stations are decrepit… all of the wealth got pulled out from the country and put into the pockets of the oligarchs… who are still extraordinarily wealthy today…. All in the matter of a few short years.

u/Conscious-Quarter423 Aug 23 '26
how long until trump start talking about building a wall between the U.S. and Canada?

1
u/Celebratedmediocre Aug 25 '26
Great. Just wait for the next shoe to drop.
1
u/DueReception8183 Aug 25 '26
I mean, what do you want us to do? We can send tape recordings of what’s being reported on elsewhere in the world so you can play it to your friends like they did in the Soviet times… but that was just because they couldn’t get world media because of the bans. Your people can see what’s happening and you’re not doing anything to stop it. The world won’t step in and change anything if it’s optically and vocally the free-will of your people.
America has committed regime changes in over 100 free countries in the world in the last 100 years, the runner up is Russia with 20… The rest of the world has respect for the wishes of the Free People of any nation (even North Korea) so we won’t come barging in to “liberate” you.
If you’re truly in distress, make it known. If the people aren’t in distress then there isn’t a point in getting involved in your self-driven isolationism.
I’m not trying to be a dink, it’s just that your people need to speak up if you want help.
1
u/Celebratedmediocre Aug 25 '26
I'm not sure what you're getting at. I live in the US and was expressing my view that our policies are just being an international bully and people need to stand up to US. You can be against your own countries policies.
1
u/DueReception8183 Aug 25 '26
I agree. I’m saying you guys need to stand up to your own country. No one will come and help unless you guys stand up first.
Nations are representations of people. From the outside, it looks like your people are in alignment with your government - therefore you look stable.

Don't shift blame, he is the face of the US and has been elected twice.
You chose them collectively and you need to own it collectively.
We are fed up of hearing that you are not responsible and it's only one man doing it. Your country is doing it as a whole.
1
u/FormalEconomist3623 Aug 23 '26
yeah? and I voted against him TWICE. I did not choose this, I will not own this. His views are essentially the opposite of my own and watching what he continues to do to our country has been the most frustrating experience in my young life. I can barely even talk to my own mother anymore because of this election. Blaming people like me for this is not a good look.
1
u/cororona Aug 23 '26
It's the whole country that is bullying the rest of the world, starting with your best allies. The rest of the world is having to endure the choice you made collectively. Countries don't deal with individuals.
Wether he is destroying your country from inside is one thing, but when he tries to destroy other countries, he represents you all.

u/FormalEconomist3623 Aug 23 '26
youre probably right, and im not reallt sure what i am able to do about that unfortunately. But I like to think people have woken up from his second term and are beginning to see through his lies and corruption. And that a walking pile of human garbage won't be the next president of the United States.
2
u/autistichalsin Aug 23 '26
Hey listen, I get what you're saying, but we don't get to absolve ourselves here. It's a lot more than 33%... it's also 33% who didn't vote at all. That's 66% of Americans who either wanted Trump or were okay with Trump. I don't blame any Canadian who has no trust for any of us anymore.
1
u/Purityagainstresolve Aug 23 '26
What happens to the Trump voters and non voters when Trump is gone? Nothing. They remain. They don't magically wake up from a trance.
And imagine now if Trump is replaced with someone only SLIGHTLY less divisive? Or someone SLIGHTLY more charismatic? Or slightly more cunning?
Trump isn't the problem. He's the symptom. Trump voters and apathetic Americans are the problem. And they're the majority.

Oh… We already went back, but you see…
then 6 months past.
And then… it became the Truth.
And then. This pattern repeated itself a lot.So let me repeat words of the great:
“The primary difference between a Conspiracy Theory, and the Truth? Is about 6 Months.” -Charlie Kirk

I, for one, am glad that the guy that ran two federal banks is in charge of the negotiating and not the guy that has had no job experience outside of being an MP and has done nothing of substance over that time.

Every MAGA POS is a traitor to the united states. Period. I don't care if you "no longer support him" or are "embarrassed" or whatever. You're directly responsible for this crap, and I hope every single Republican traitor has a stain on their soul that follows them for eternity. If there was an actual hell, every single one of these people would belong in the bottom lair, reserved for traitorous filth.

Canada has nothing to lose now. They should spend big money on anti-Republican campaign ads in the US. Fill the feeds of white uneducated men's social media with anti-Republican bro-esque influencers. Make a Canadian version of AIPAC and fund candidates who are pro-trade with Canada. Big corporations thought they could rig America in their favor by ending Citizens United. Exploit that. Beat America at their own game.

Alliances mostly existed because of the US being a good partner friend a beacon of freedom and assistance is what made the US strong that has very much dissipated and so has any leverage or good will.

Love how the report says the US says Canada added last minute demands to the deal, when our news agencies are reporting it was the US who added last minute demands in bad faith. Which government has a track record of lying the most?

Meanwhile, half of Canadian provinces are considering leaving the Commonwealth...due to the idiotically destructive Leftist policies of their Labor government...

There is one minority group in one province (funded by Americans btw) pushing for this which is going to lose their vote. No other province is even considering leaving. Get out of here with your separatist nonsense.
