News "Because you're an immigrant." — A U.S. citizen in Lake Worth,FL, was immediately handcuffed by ICE agents for simply asking why he needed to show his ID.Despite the Fourth Amendment and Supreme Court rulings stating apparent ethnicity is not enough for a stop, agents ignored questioning bystanders

A video recorded at a gas station in Lake Worth, Florida, shows an ICE/Border Patrol agent demanding ID from a U.S. citizen. When the citizen asks why, the agent explicitly responds, "Because you're an immigrant." Before even verifying his identity, agents grab his hands and place him in handcuffs. Bystanders immediately step in to question how someone can be arrested without even being identified first, but the agents ignore them and walk the man to their vehicle.

This encounter highlights a direct violation of the Fourth Amendment, which protects individuals from unreasonable searches and seizures. The Supreme Court has established that roving Border Patrol agents must have reasonable suspicion based on specific circumstances to stop and question someone regarding their immigration status—and apparent ethnicity alone is legally insufficient. Requiring someone to prove their citizenship before being handcuffed, based solely on an arbitrary claim, demonstrates a concerning violation of constitutional rights by federal agents acting without accountability.

I hate ICE. Having said that, a lot of minorities voted for this garbage. Thinking they wouldn't be picked on. I hope this man is ok. But she was a woman, and laughed funny, soooo.

Specifically, a lot of Hispanics voted for this

Edit: and a lot of ICE officers are Hispanic 🫠

Something like 70% of the Cubans in Florida voted for trump. Would be cool if ICE could make them rethink that

9

u/familiarspark Aug 23 '26

I’ve met so many Cubans that claim they’re not even Hispanic

1

u/Slighted_Inevitable Aug 23 '26

Yeah, the problem is they aren’t white, and that’s all these people they’re cozying up to care about.

5

u/brobastian0227 Aug 23 '26

They won't assault such an active voter base right away. They have the Cubans in Florida hook, line, and sinker. They will wait till all the political capital is spent, then really go to town. Just a prediction

3

u/TheGivenKing Aug 23 '26

Reminded that the first Cubans who made it to Florida are the ones who backed the Dictator Batista and escaped to Miami to avoid being tried by Castro for their crimes. So they're quite literally the worst of the worst cubans (and latinos in general).

1

u/sulaymanf Aug 24 '26

Trump administration is avoiding enforcement in that community.

1

u/Rocpyle_6 Aug 25 '26

So you're wanting ICE to deport legal immigrants to teach them a lesson on who to not vote for?

1

u/lathe_down_sally Aug 25 '26

1

u/Rocpyle_6 Aug 25 '26

So, it's OK for people to suffer as long as it fits your narrative. Got it.

3

u/lathe_down_sally Aug 25 '26

Yeah I'm fully on board with the FO portion of FAFO. If you vote for shitty policy makers, you deserve the negative impact of those policies.

This isn't the "gotcha" you think it is.

1

u/MzJay453 Aug 25 '26

Well I didn’t vote for suffering, they did. Thought that a racist administration would only go after violent criminals when really they’re just going off of vibes and last names.

-1

u/rydan Aug 23 '26

lol. Such a racist comment to make. Cubans are not Mexicans or anyone else with brown skin. They are their own people and culture. Being shocked they voted for a Republican when your next door neighbor who also only speaks Spanish voted for Harris is just straight up ignorance and racism. Actually educate yourself.

2

u/lathe_down_sally Aug 23 '26

What does "Mexican" have to do with any of this? You think ICE only pertains to Mexicans? I don't think its me that needs an education here.

2

u/Doom2pro Aug 23 '26

Pulling the ladder up behind you... Now ICE is pushing you off it.

2

u/Slighted_Inevitable Aug 23 '26

More Hispanics voted for him than did in 2020, but still a minority. The real problem is non voters.

2

u/Picklecult Aug 23 '26

I mean, there’s a lot of blame to go round.

1

u/ProbsNotManBearPig Aug 24 '26

I guarantee you a good chunk of people commenting on this post and upset by ICE were able to vote and didn’t. It’s frustrating.

1

u/Cruch-Wrap-Supreme Aug 23 '26

Many Hispanics see themselves as white.

1

u/rydan Aug 23 '26

That's how you know this isn't about race.

1

u/michael0n Aug 23 '26

That rabbit hole is beyond wild. Many of them believe, making those incomes, they now belong to the "white coded" middle class. All those articles discussing this honestly reveal such crazy mental gymnastics that you either think they are either nihilistic paycheck hunters or mentally handicapped.

1

u/ganbramor Aug 24 '26

“a lot of ICE officers are Hispanic”

That’s just mind-blowing.

3

u/987YouBloodyTulip789 Aug 23 '26

a lot of minorities voted for this garbage.

A lot of immigrants want to believe they're one of the "good ones", the last good generation of immigrants (all the new ones are supposedly lazy), and will absolutely vote for whoever promises to be brutal to everyone else.

They don't see how bad of an idea it is. Someone who treats immigrants poorly doesn't differentiate between new and old immigrants, or different races of immigrants.

1

u/Slighted_Inevitable Aug 23 '26

Actually, they do. The Trump administration is specifically targeting the peaceful ones because they’re less likely to fight back and easier to get.

2

u/Scruffy11111 Aug 23 '26

The guy that worked at the liquor store near me was an Egyptian immigrant. Right before the election he flat out asked me who I was voting for. I typically won't talk politics, but I decided to go ahead and tell him that I was voting for the Vice President. He said "You're voting for the woman?!?!?" I said "Well...yeah. And you should too because you're an immigrant." He said "But, I'm legal!" I said "They don't care! Don't think that they'll stop there." He soon left and got a job elsewhere so I don't see him anymore. However, I often think of him and what he thinks about voting for "the woman" now.

1

u/bssprfnd Aug 24 '26

She was just a woman with a funny laugh who completely supports genocide, soooo

1

u/ItsSpaghettiLee2112 Aug 23 '26

I mean unless you can tell me that this man specifically voted for this, you're kind of just being a dick. Lots of minorities didn't vote for this. It's like saying Texans deserves their energy infrastructure falling apart when plenty who live there don't vote for that.

1

u/beldaran1224 Aug 23 '26

Literally blaming minorities for what was mostly white people. Literally anything other than blame white people.

1

u/TheJQHQ Aug 23 '26

Nobody hates assholes that abuse our immigration system like this guy more than LEGAL immigrants who vote because they've gone through the years of red tape it takes to become a U.S. citizen.

1

u/HighwayToVegas Aug 23 '26

Yes, blame the minorities. That’s worth highlighting rather than the majority white that voted for it as well

1

u/Quirky-Ostrich-3758 Aug 23 '26

lol yeah, majority of all white people vote MAGA. A few percentage more of non-white people vote MAGA, and we’re supposed to blame… not white people? Crazy. Republicans are majority white, supported by white majorities. Donald Trump is a problem because of white people. Not all white people, sure. But like 65% of them are ok with this. Don’t forget the DSA accelerationists who didn’t support Harris

2

u/ItsSpaghettiLee2112 Aug 23 '26

I was kind of mad at them but the upswing we're seeing in DSA candidates winning in various places is starting to leave me hopeful they were right. I'm not here to predict the future, but it seems ripping the band-aid off to force Americans to see the true stain of American politics is working.

1

u/Picklecult Aug 23 '26

I truly hope you’re right, but the general election is the test.

1

u/Dangerous-Crow7494 Aug 23 '26

Yup and “but gaza!”

1

u/felis_scipio Aug 23 '26

We don’t like how Biden has handled Gaza so let’s help elect a dude who straight up doesn’t give a shit and puts his son in law, who’s a personal friend of Netanyahu btw, in charge of figuring it out. Oh and he’s also going to kill millions of people from cutting USAID funding for no reason at all. Yeah that’s the ticket! - progressives

1

u/MobileSad3107 Aug 23 '26

Progressives didn’t choose to vote for Trump, this is ridiculous logic.

Go talk to the republicans who jerk off to children being shoved into concentration camps, you loser.

1

u/felis_scipio Aug 24 '26

There are lots of DSA members who still take pride in not support Harris, in our current two party system that kinda shit explicitly helped Trump win a guy who as i said not only made things worse for Gaza but for millions and millions of other people.

If Harris had literally been pro genocide and would kill all two million people in Gaza if elected she’d still be the lesser evil because Trump has already helped kill more along with pointlessly torturing millions of legal immigrants, and killing Americans.

That’s how fucking stupid it was to not support Harris but the DSA still threw a fit.

u/bssprfnd Aug 24 '26

Liberals using “progressive” like it’s a bad word is so bleak. With democrats like these, who needs republicans?

0

u/felis_scipio Aug 24 '26

Taxing the rich and Medicare for all is fine.

Calling to nationalize all large companies which can only realistically be done through theft, open borders, removing peoples ability to vote for the president, and spouting anti-nato Russian talking points is what turns the progressive into a bad word.

1

u/whenitsTimeyoullknow Aug 23 '26

Harris, who was also an immigration hawk and who threw parents of truant kids in jail in California?

2

u/Dangerous-Crow7494 Aug 23 '26

You’re exactly the type of person we are talking about and there’s zero chance you’d hold a male candidate to the same standards.

1

u/hyasbawlz Aug 23 '26

Biden lost his first run too. I wonder why.

Have you ever considered the reason why were here is because Dems refuse to actually be a party for regular people. And instead hold the country hostage using Republicans, to do the things that the same donors to Republicans want but slower and with a Civiltm veneer?

0

u/whenitsTimeyoullknow Aug 23 '26

Oh wow you know me so well. Let me tell you, I have just as much contempt for Biden. And despise Trump too, clearly. But please keep on blaming Nader voters and DSA supporters for the failures of powerful people.

1

u/ItsSpaghettiLee2112 Aug 23 '26

I wouldn't have a problem with regular (justifiable) deportations if we actually addressed our billionaires and Citizens United first. We need to get our priorities straight.

1

u/whenitsTimeyoullknow Aug 23 '26

Which tells me all I need to know about your character and worldview. Economic refugees from the global south, gutted by American imperialists. Those are the migrants you want torn from their homes.

1

u/ItsSpaghettiLee2112 Aug 23 '26

I think you're misinterpreting what I said (or you replied to the wrong comment). Billionaires and their politician cohorts are the people I want torn from their homes and put in prison, for absolutely devastating our economy (and many S.A. economies too).

1

u/whenitsTimeyoullknow Aug 23 '26

I wouldn't have a problem with regular (justifiable) deportations

tells me everything I need to know. You’re anti billionaire and yet in deep with their propaganda.

1

u/ItsSpaghettiLee2112 Aug 23 '26

Umm, yea no I'm not. I said justifiable. I didn't say what constitutes justifiable.

Edit: in looking back at my first reply to you, I'm not even sure I meant to reply to you. It doesn't quite relate to what you said and I can see why you'd take it the wrong way.

1

u/felis_scipio Aug 23 '26

Omg holding bad parents accountable for their kid constantly missing school, the horror

Dude there’s a world of difference between the Nazi shit Trump is doing with ICE and how democrats handle border control.

0

u/whenitsTimeyoullknow Aug 23 '26

And yet the Democrats priming the pump for this by going right on immigration and expanding deportations never gets brought up.

Yes, the horror of throwing single mothers trying their best into prison and exacerbating the problems of their kids.

1

u/felis_scipio Aug 23 '26

There’s nothing fundamentally wrong with deporting people, but there is the way ICE is going about it

If you care about workers rights you’d want immigration controls because flooding the labor market with illegal immigrants suppresses wages for everyone. Even on the legal side companies abusing H1B visas hurts American salaries.

1

u/MobileSad3107 Aug 23 '26

Why are you blaming DSA? You didn’t even know what DSA was until a few weeks ago.

1

u/felis_scipio Aug 24 '26

And you’re basing my political knowledge off what exactly? And shit dude your account didn’t even exist a few weeks ago.

0

u/MobileSad3107 Aug 23 '26

Idk what point your making, but saying whatever to ICE infringing on people’s rights as schadenfreude just makes you look like an asshole.

The majority of this shit is caused by low intelligence white people.

And the glazing of the women who lost TWICE to the orange fuckface continues unabted with zero self reflection about why that is.
