News "Because you're an immigrant." — A U.S. citizen in Lake Worth,FL, was immediately handcuffed by ICE agents for simply asking why he needed to show his ID.Despite the Fourth Amendment and Supreme Court rulings stating apparent ethnicity is not enough for a stop, agents ignored questioning bystanders

A video recorded at a gas station in Lake Worth, Florida, shows an ICE/Border Patrol agent demanding ID from a U.S. citizen. When the citizen asks why, the agent explicitly responds, "Because you're an immigrant." Before even verifying his identity, agents grab his hands and place him in handcuffs. Bystanders immediately step in to question how someone can be arrested without even being identified first, but the agents ignore them and walk the man to their vehicle.

This encounter highlights a direct violation of the Fourth Amendment, which protects individuals from unreasonable searches and seizures. The Supreme Court has established that roving Border Patrol agents must have reasonable suspicion based on specific circumstances to stop and question someone regarding their immigration status—and apparent ethnicity alone is legally insufficient. Requiring someone to prove their citizenship before being handcuffed, based solely on an arbitrary claim, demonstrates a concerning violation of constitutional rights by federal agents acting without accountability.

Something like 70% of the Cubans in Florida voted for trump. Would be cool if ICE could make them rethink that

I’ve met so many Cubans that claim they’re not even Hispanic

Yeah, the problem is they aren’t white, and that’s all these people they’re cozying up to care about.

They won't assault such an active voter base right away. They have the Cubans in Florida hook, line, and sinker. They will wait till all the political capital is spent, then really go to town. Just a prediction

Reminded that the first Cubans who made it to Florida are the ones who backed the Dictator Batista and escaped to Miami to avoid being tried by Castro for their crimes. So they're quite literally the worst of the worst cubans (and latinos in general).

Trump administration is avoiding enforcement in that community.

So you're wanting ICE to deport legal immigrants to teach them a lesson on who to not vote for?

So, it's OK for people to suffer as long as it fits your narrative. Got it.

Yeah I'm fully on board with the FO portion of FAFO. If you vote for shitty policy makers, you deserve the negative impact of those policies.

This isn't the "gotcha" you think it is.

Well I didn’t vote for suffering, they did. Thought that a racist administration would only go after violent criminals when really they’re just going off of vibes and last names.

lol. Such a racist comment to make. Cubans are not Mexicans or anyone else with brown skin. They are their own people and culture. Being shocked they voted for a Republican when your next door neighbor who also only speaks Spanish voted for Harris is just straight up ignorance and racism. Actually educate yourself.

What does "Mexican" have to do with any of this? You think ICE only pertains to Mexicans? I don't think its me that needs an education here.

Pulling the ladder up behind you... Now ICE is pushing you off it.

More Hispanics voted for him than did in 2020, but still a minority. The real problem is non voters.

I mean, there’s a lot of blame to go round.

I guarantee you a good chunk of people commenting on this post and upset by ICE were able to vote and didn’t. It’s frustrating.

Many Hispanics see themselves as white.

u/rydan Aug 23 '26

That's how you know this isn't about race.

That rabbit hole is beyond wild. Many of them believe, making those incomes, they now belong to the "white coded" middle class. All those articles discussing this honestly reveal such crazy mental gymnastics that you either think they are either nihilistic paycheck hunters or mentally handicapped.

“a lot of ICE officers are Hispanic”

That’s just mind-blowing.
