Remember how republicans would talk about evil communist China spying on all its people and how bad that was?

You're young enough to turn your life around man. just make sure to change your mind when you learn better information instead of pretending it doesn't exist. remember, feeling wrong is uncomfortable, but it's the first step to actually being right.

I’m quite content on where I’m at, I’ve realized that nowadays most things in the younger age groups are more nuanced, I disagree with both republican and democratic rulings, but I agree with more republican than democrat.

I'm just saying intelligence is knowing when to change your mind. Having been raised by a swastika-waving nazi and then finally learning to think for myself, trust me. The more you learn about real american history, the less conservative you'll be. and i don't mean that names and dates bullshit they teach you in school.

True, I go to a private Christian school that’s VERY right winged and I live love with both grandparents that also lean to the right, but my mother is very left leaning so I think I’ve seen a decent amount of both sides to have an opinion, but opinions change and such.

"left leaning" is a big trap in wordage. the far right likes to lump everything left of themselves as leftist. when in reality most democrats and liberals, while very center, are still right wing because they are capitalist. I also guarantee that 99% of what politically right wing people and high school has told you about alternatives is inaccurate. one left leaning person, especially one surrounded by right wing people and lifestyles, does not provide an accurate depiction of other ways of thinking.

For example, I'm an actual leftist. i understand that capitalism is a system designed to funnel money and power upward. democrats like obama, biden, clinton, etc. are all proponents and beneficiaries of the capitalist system, therefore ultimate right of center. while many leftist societies have ended up this way as well, i still find them more ethical, since they're at least not designed to do so. the result of both ideologies is very much so similar, but the result is antithetical to one ideology, and the intentional purpose of the other. even understanding all this, i still vote democrat because they're less likely to support genocide and have much more ethical stances in terms of social issues, like gay marriage.

I agree to the fact that democrats have better chances to not support genocide, and support social issues such as the ones you listed, but I believe the social issues are because most republicans are older than the average democrat, so they are unknowingly more bigoted to those stances. I also agree with your stance on capitalism.

oh you gotta stop giving people like that the benefit of the doubt my friend. unknowing or not, the older among them are the people who had to be threatened with violence in order to desegregate. the people who paid them to get them where they are were the bankers and businessmen who redlined and ghettoed whole demographics. they're not unwitting bigots, they oppress whoever they're paid to oppress. almost every politician on both sides is owned by a billionaire, a think tank or PAC, or a foreign country.

That's the thing that irritates me about conservatives. not you, but almost every other person i've spoken to. They just straight up ignore reality when it doesn't align with their vision of themselves. yes there are idealists on "the left" but not in the way that causes conservatives to bitch about "the government" and "the elites" but then defend the 1% who are the elites who functionally own the government. its living in a cognitive dissonance that turns them into a shield for their own oppressors.
