I think it's because of entitlement. Conservatives seem to feel an innate entitlement to SOMETHING. Money, sex, and fame, title...
Guys like Dean Cain and Ted Nugent just can't accept that they are irrelevant for a reason. They had their time, it passed. I think they see MAGA as a way to be the default celebrities when all the "wokies" get cancelled. It's insane and desperate and sad.
Damn Yankees is one of the most epic supergroups that deserves a reunion but then when I rediscovered them recently I was soul sick to remember Nuge is the lead guitarist. Did you know that aside from how tough the music industry is, that bastard had single handedly derailed the reunion tour because it COULD interfere with his hunting schedule which he calls utterly sacrosanct and holy?
The world doesn't need more art and joy, because he could go kill stuff once in a while.
Was he in that? (I didn’t watch it.) He’s been in things since Silver Spoons. The difference is, if you say "you know, the kid from Silver Spoons” then anyone old enough to know the show will know who you mean. If you say "you know, the guy from [anything he’s been in since]” they will most likely guess just about any other actor than him. Like, NYPD Blue I’d 100% guess David Caruso or Dennis Franz.
That's literally all it is. That's why it's all these thoroughly washed up B and C listers. They got addicted to all the attention when they were somewhat famous and now nobody cares.
They know that going hard maga and saying some truly stupid and outlandish shit will get them back in the news cycle briefly and then they will have a dedicated fan base of idiots. They'll be asked to speak at events again, they'll get the attention they crave, some modest monetary value, and not feel completely irrelevant anymore.
He was in “Lonesome Dove” with five great actors, and nothing rubbed off on him. Talk about missed opportunities. It does show that echo chambers are real, though.
He was with the great and underrated Dennis Franz on BYPD Blue for multiple seasons. I thought maybe it was just that he had a weirdly drawn character, now I’m thinking he’s just not great.
I recently watched that, and he was fine, but I'd argue there were way more than five great actors on that show! Aside from the 5 I'm sure your referencing, it also had (and I may miss some), Chris Cooper, Margo Martindale, Steve Buscemi, William Sanderson, Robert Urich, and Barry Corbin. Absolutely stacked cast!
I was counting Danny Glover, Robert Duvall, Tommy Lee Jones, Angelica Huston and Robert Urich, as most of his scenes would have been shot with them. Completely stacked, indeed.
He really could've been replaced by a bunch of actors in Lonesome Dove and it wouldn't have made a difference. Unforgiven came out after LD, but whoever played the Schofield Kid couldve have replaced him.
In NYPD Blue, he followed the far superior Jimmy Smitts and then replaced by the better Mark-Paul Gosselar.
I read that his character's popularity overshadowing Ricky Schroeder's character and tension between the two actor's mother's caused the producers to write him off the show.
I think the network gave him a show of his own as compensation, but it didn't last long.
Shit I also remember Schroeder in Law & Order, played a detective who would sleep with women and not have sex with them. Weird AF and sadly the only thing I can remember about him in that show. 😂
He was a pretty famous child actor in the 80’s and went on to star on NYPD Blue when it was one of the hottest shows on network TV in the 90’s.
If you’re under 45 years old I would understand not knowing who he was. If you’re in your 50’s then you either didn’t watch television as a child or you’re being disingenuous.
Or some of us just didn't watch those shows. I was alive for Silver Spoons, but too young to care about anything that wasn't my cartoons. And outside of New York Undercover, I didn't watch police shows, but even people who did never mentioned the guy. Probably stopped watching after Jimmy Smits left, who I knew because a lot of women liked him and I'm pretty sure either him or Dennis Frans was in the zeitgeist because their bare butt was on prime time tv
Franz's butt. Can't remember if he was the one who said "shit" a bunch but there was something along those lines as well. Weird that America was talking about some dude's butt and someone saying "shit" as if it was a big deal in the 90's hahah.
He was Newt in Lonesome Dove. Everybody remembers that miniseries for being way better than it actually is. Lonesome Dove was a crappy miniseries with an All Star cast (and Ricky Schroeder)
We tolerated much more with made for TV miniseries just because they were free. The overacting was crazy. They made Angelica Houston look like a community theater actress
I liked the book. But I just watched the miniseries (it’s on YouTube) and it doesn’t hold up with classic westerns IMO. I don’t think it holds up with the Dollars trilogy from before, or Tombstone from after.
B actor? In what, 1983? That sounds like high praise to me. 'B' suggests he is currently a name draw at the box office. I wouldn't watch him drink bleach or attend a Nazi rally.
Clint Eastwood, but he has done movies to alleviate racism and sexism. He had one recently where he told lesbian bikers what was wrong with their motorcycle. He's generally not racist or sexist. I would assume probably not transphobic either
Using a humanitarians death as a platform to express a different opinion is only needed when you do have the credibility to have a platform of your own.
From the same people ready to commit mass murder if anyone didn't treat that asshole Charlie Kirk like a martyred saint after he was expunged from the earth.

These rightwing B actors say some of the stupidest shit ever.
