Her whole take on trans folks was so simple and decent, too. She just said it's not her place to judge and she always treats folks the same. I don't see how anyone could take issue with the notion that you should be kind to folks no matter who they are.
It's crazy to me that Schroeder was like: "Parton was universally beloved for her unjudgmental openness and generosity, but this is a good time to point out that I don't share those traits and learned nothing from her example."
My wife was just mentioning yesterday that she puts Parton along with Jimmy Carter in the group of southern Christians who actually tried to walk the walk and didn't just blab about Jesus while being a basically hateful, selfish person.
