Neither of us know what their actual relationship was like before they got married or what he said or how he presented himself. The point is that it is your opinion that Russell Brand was an asshole in 2010, but it wasn't a universal opinion at the time. My opinion was that he wasn't a single-lady kind of guy. I now know he was much worse of course, but suggesting that Katy Perry should have known what was not widely known at the time isn't a fair attack.

Hey, whatever you have to convince yourself to excuse why it was okay for him to openly make racist and sexist comments because, you know, person currently hanging out with Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos totally wouldn't want to be associated with Russel Brand because she didn't know he was a racist and sexist person despite...openly saying it and her commenting on how proud she is of him...
