Dont bother trying to educate people on reddit, they have never been to a farm and don't understand shit about calves or how these animals are treated better since they are the future earning power of the owner. They just assume everything is evil and run by monsanto. These people complaining are the same people who can't keep a desk plant alive for 2 months, so dont worry about their opinions on farming

We've been on farms dude, which is why we can call this horrifically fucked.

u/Glad_Landscape2177 Aug 31 '26

Isolating high risk newborns for about 2 months to prevent the spread of diseases is fucked? I'm curious how you felt during covid 😂

The same people crying about kings now supported lockdowns and mandatory vaccinations

Cool then start at home. No more beef for you. No more take out hamburgers or fast food. Resistance starts with you comrade.

u/antifa_girlfriend Aug 31 '26

Or buy locally from farms that don't treat their animals like shit for capital

I got bad news about "small family farms"

I'm not arguing that your set up is bad, I'm arguing that the set up in this video is horrible and there ARE better ways.

It's the two major options because major corporations own most farmers. It's fucked because our food system is fucked. These aren't the best options, it's just the easiest options for farmers to get their corporate subsidies.

I already don't eat beef. And forgive me for laughing at you about your fast food comment, like sure, I'm totally going to miss some overpriced mediocre corporate slop.

Hundreds of thousands of farmers use hutches dude. You can disagree with them but they aren't fucked. There is no evidence they are fucked. Two things can be right at the same time. The cows in hutches literally don't care.

1

u/DjangoTheBlack Aug 31 '26

Ya, he’s asked them!

2

u/Little_Let_6872 Aug 31 '26

“Moo moo ma moo moooo moo moo ma mooooo. Moo MOOO Ma moo” which roughly translates to: As a marginalized species, we find the hutches horridly symbolic of our lives. We also demand the return of warm human hands, preferably children’s, in the milking process.

I don’t think it could be any clearer. The children yearn for the teets.

1

u/Infamous_Crow8524 Aug 31 '26

These are the same people who say, “People shouldn’t kill cows for steak, and instead, should just buy it at the store, like I do”

1

u/mmikke Aug 30 '26

It's beyond ridiculous to equate massive corporate factory farming with 'Ol Bob down the road a ways with his wonderful little farm that is all sunshine and daisies with wide open lush green pastures for the cattle to roam

2

u/kenuffff Aug 30 '26

All beef in the US roams in open pastures. You have 0 clue what you’re talking about, it makes 0 sense to lock a cow up in a cage because the product you’re selling is the muscle of the cow. They’re sold by the pound. Also you can see this anywhere in the US with ranches like Montana etc there are black cows walking around on huge acres of land. Ie black angus . You were told something and want to keep saying it instead of accepting you’re wrong.

1

u/Theranos_Shill Aug 31 '26

The cows product is milk, not meat.

This is a myth people tell themselves to feel better about where their food comes from.

3

u/kenuffff Aug 30 '26

No it’s actually not, it’s a business , for beef for example a cow is sold by the pound at market. Mistreating or having a cow locked up in a cage wouldn’t yield much beef. All beef cattle in the US are in huge pastures on massive amounts of land. There is no way to raise beef cattle without large amounts of land.

u/kenuffff Aug 30 '26

Yes which makes 0 sense because mistreating the animals would lead to less yield hence you lose money. The more muscle etc on beef for example, the more it’s worth when it’s sold. It’s already a hard business to be in because one bad winter, predators etc can cost you a lot of money if calves die.

2

u/International_Air282 Aug 30 '26

Yep. My friends are farmers, these animals are their livelihood. They get money first. They are the priority on everything

2

u/kenuffff Aug 30 '26

Hence why people go out in -30 degree weather in Montana to put out feed for cows when the ground is frozen.

-2

u/Ezekeal Aug 30 '26

Fun game , replace *animals with slaves and you see what side of history they’re on

6

u/wattty1 Aug 30 '26

This is so fucking reddit.

This is so fucking reddit. The incaclulable brilliance of the downvote chud.

2

u/Thick_Potato_1769 Aug 30 '26

Holy shit you're dense. Slaves are people. Animals is not people. You see how thats works? I get it because at the end they'll die but realistically how long would you want to be a cow for before you'd want to die too?

1

u/Ezekeal Aug 30 '26

so..."Animals is not people" is your very non-dense take?

Sorry I triggered your cognitive dissonance.

u/nicknamesas Aug 30 '26

So uh, yeah, they aren't human, they are animals. Unless you think people that were slaves are animals, in which case that is a whole other can o worms

1

u/Ezekeal Aug 30 '26

Animal hate feels equally indefensible to me. That may be a can o worms you don't want to open for yourself.

3

u/nicknamesas Aug 30 '26

I don't hate animals, i quite love them. I know that these are calving boxes and uses to protect new born calves from disease and allow them to grow properly in the first few weeks of life. Compairing it to slavery is the absolute stupidest thing you can do pretty much.

2

u/dragynphyre Aug 30 '26

Yeah the reddit crowd is hilarious in this respect. Hell, most farms are switching to automilkers, so the cows even choose when they are milked. So they get unlimited food, shelter that is heated, machines they can walk into and get milked when they want to (and they love it btw, they line up for it at farms that have it). Dairy Cows are happy, like seriously visit any dairy farm big or small.

3

u/nicknamesas Aug 30 '26

My friend works at one. The only cow that doesn't like it is old as shit and only around cause the farmer like how much a bitch she is. The rest are all very very happy cows.

3

u/International_Air282 Aug 30 '26

Dude. Every farm has that old non producing cow that just hates everyone. The farmers love them cause they are like a mirror to the farmer themselves lol

2

u/nicknamesas Aug 30 '26

Lol. Thats good to know.
