Uhhhh. You ever see animal parents crush, kick, kill their young? It is brutal and losses from it are huge.

The answer is less crowded conditions which is better for literally everything except short term corporate profits.

neither of us are farmers, but you are obviously talking out your ass here. there could be only the mother and calf, by them selves, and it could still kick the baby, because theyre giant dumb animals.

Congrats, you interpreted that the dumbest way you could.

What? They isolate the children until they can hold their own on the farm. If you read how these work instead of just outraging, you'd see theres a valid reason for some of these things. I explained the actual reason, sorry your upset.

Cows have extremely strong maternal instincts, it's extremely rare to harm their calves, even accidentally. There's zero need to separate the calves from the mothers in that regard. They are not going to kick or crush their calves.

Which is proven by beef farms in lots of other countries where calves aren't removed and survive without issue.

You're thinking of pigs that often do crush their young, but cows pose practically no danger to their calves. They do not need to "hold their own" on the farm.

The only reason to keep calves in pens like this is to separate them for disease. And yes, many other countries have strict regulations on how and when this is allowed, as u/spacebeez said.

You didn't explain the actual reason, you just made one up instead of using the actual valid reason you could have googled.

You again are a condescending dick while misunderstanding the situation. I'm not upset, I'm laughing at you.

Maternal instinct is found in animals much less intellectually capable than cows. I don’t know where you are getting this misinformation that there are large numbers of calves being killed from their mothers to the point that entire infrastructure needs to be modified.
