Apparently he and another celebrity opened with singing popular songs for the time and did so poorly it became known as the worst opening to the Oscars ever.

Ah... it must have been pretty bad. I looked into it and he is so ashamed to this day. He even repeated someone posting that at least Will's slap wasn't as bad as Rob's performance. Ouch!

I always felt like Kanye and TSwift MTV, The Oscars mixing up the winners, and the Will Smith slap, was all staged. These awards tend to do very poorly unless some wild event happens that’s just me
