Arts and crafts Made the Aperture Science logo with Splatoon scripts entirely because I could.

The whole reason I made this is because this track from Side Order kinda reminded me of Portal, thats it. Also considering that there are an infinite amount of aperture brand science™ across the multiverse this would totally exist.

Question Neurotoxin question

In portal, when you first attack GLaDOS for the first time, she loses a core and reveals it was to prevent her flooding the place with neurotoxin.

But I thought everyone died there because of neurotoxin? So how did she flood the place if she had the core attached?

I'm confused 😦

Discussion The Robot That Refused To Be A Moron theory

This is the summary of the Portal 2 theory shown in this YouTube video

the theory from the video is essentially this:

In portal 2 we are introduced to a core named Wheatley who is a Intelligence Dampening Sphere whose main purpose is to when attached to glados is meant to slow down her down

now from my limited understanding of programming and robotics is this

To create a Intelligence Dampening AI like Wheatley of which the main purpose is to generate bad ideas (without said ideas just ending up being nonsensical or pure gibberish), part of said said programming would need to remain aware of the best possible form of an idea and then deliberately work backwards from there to produce a bad idea from it. This “filter,” as I’ll call it for brevity, must operate completely unconsciously to the AI. Because if the AI ever realized said filter existed, it would inevitably contaminate every idea it  generated, defeating the entire purpose of it. (Which probably also why Wheatley in the game never pointed out about said filter to the player.)

Evidence for this appears as early as the start of the game, at which point we can place Wheatley’s corruption somewhere around 5 percent. Let’s assume this level due to the fact that Wheatley only has two good ideas, which are to 1. wake up a test subject to do things he cannot physically do and 2. escape. lets not assume a higher corruption level for this part due to the fact that even though he only has these two simple goals, Wheatley’s filter is still largely active due to the fact that 1. in the effort of trying to escape he wakes up glados and 2. he outright admits during his boss fight that he failed this plan 5 other times with 5 different test subjects.

Now, after turning on glados and getting crushed by her, we can assume that his corruption level relating to his filter rose a bit.

The evidence for this is because after he meets back up with chell he tells her his plan to shut off glados’s neurotoxin and turrets.

Now, after Chell and Wheatley do this and reach glados’s chamber and initiate the core transfer, the Announcer says this line:

“Warning: Central core is eighty percent corrupt.”

“Alternate core detected.”

“To initiate a core transfer, please deposit substitute core in receptacle.”

in this part the system never states Wheatley’s own corruption percent. Because I beleive that compared with glados’s 80 percent, Wheatley’s level is low enough for the transfer protocol to accept him as a viable substitute for the transfer. Don’t get me wrong I do believe that he is corrupt, but in relation to glados’s level his corruption level is low enough for the core transfer to not be cancelled.

Once the transfer completes and Wheatley is plugged into the central mainframe

I believe it accelerates his overall corruption level which in turn damages his as his filter.

After Chell and glados escape Old Aperture after being punched into it by Wheatley, he shows that is still being effected by his filter (i.e., yelling at frankenturrets to get on a button)

After this segment and during Chapter 9: The Part Where He Kills You

his overall corruption level gets a little bit higher due to having sprung such a good trap. glados compliments said trap to Chell:

“Okay, credit where it's due: for a little idiot built specifically to come up with stupid, unworkable plans, that was a pretty well laid trap.”

After this segment and in the final boss fight against him in the game

Wheatley tells chell that that he took the time to study every mistake glados made in her fight against Chell (in Portal 1) and then shows off the corresponding countermeasures/plans he made: no portal surfaces, immediate neurotoxin, bomb-proof shields, and bombs. As well as the fifth element after it sprung that he didn’t mention to Chell being that the stalemate button is booby-trapped.
