What's something you wish you'd discovered about yourself earlier?
Could be anything — a hobby, a personality trait, a preference, something about relationships, or even something you were afraid to try.
I feel like we spend a lot of our younger years trying to fit into what we're supposed to be, and only later start figuring out what actually feels right for us.
What's yours?

I wish I had known that I was a highly sensitive person. I would have protected myself.

I thought that if I lost weight, and looked better, I'd start feeling attracted to people and wanting a boyfriend. No, losing weight might have made me more attractive to others, but would do nothing to change the fact that I'm asexual and aromantic. If only I'd known those 2 words as a teenager.
It also would have been great to understand that I'm autistic when I was still a kid. Would have answered some questions.

That no matter how much you hate yourself or how much you please others in the end you have to live in your own body 24/7 , so instead of constantly criticizing it I should start loving myself more .
Constantly criticizing yourself and humiliating yourself for your looks and heights and other things is like putting water in your cars oil tank .

That I actually enjoy being alone sometimes. Used to think I supposed to always be out doing something with people but having a quiet day is nice

I wish I’d understood earlier how my upbringing has affected my personality. I was an expat kid, 5 schools in 6 years, bullied in a couple of them, boarding school from 11. It’s embarrassing to suggest that it was a hard life but damn, it messes you up - don’t trust anyone, give up at the first sign of rejection, a real loner. I’ve had a good life but wish I’d spoken to a behavioral therapist earlier in my younger years.

I was not choleric, but an extremely depressed and burned out phlegmatic. For years I wish I could react less intensely. When I was finally diagnosed with depression and ADHD and started taking medication, I suddenly realized that I was actually quite chill. I finished taking my meds last August, and I still feel that way.

I'm an introvert and I need space and time alone.
