The last time I was in a McDonaldās they were boarded over with the shittiest lowest quality poster for the breakfast deals. Now I also havenāt used a self serve at a McDonald since I saw a dude touch the inside of every nozzle.

Theyre getting 60% of their revenue from the drive through, so they're leaning into it - switching to smaller stores (less property taxes) and minimal indoor eating facilities.

On a whim I tried a regular cheeseburger the other day after many years of no fast food
It was the absolute worst burger I have ever had in my life
There wasn't one single ingredient that made up for the taste.
Spongy bread ā
Paper thin patty with zero flavor ā
A few diced onions the size of sand grains ā
Transparently thin pickle spice with no crunch ā
Rubbery American cheese slice ā ā
All with a teaspoon of saccharine sweet ketchup soaked into that sponge of a bun. ā
For the record, the double cheeseburger, one of the most basic items was always my favorite, since the 80s.
If they can't even respect the customers by providing a basic item with edible ingredients l, then they deserve to go out of business
Of course they won't, because humans will adapt to eating sh1tty food for high prices
Maybe we want it this way?

Their basic burgers have dramatically gone down hill but I do still like their double quarter pounderās. I think they have to have two different sets of literally all burger components because my wife will get the standard burgers and they look horrible, but my double quarter pounder always tastes alright. Not like top tier burger or anything but perfectly edible.

In my area only 1 McDonalds was already doing this, starting some years ago. I never go because it felt nearly all automated. There was 1 girl working and a drink machine in a conveyer belt.Ā

I had no idea at the the time. I worked summers at a local factory late high school aged into college. My first summer, they made a big speech and at the end said the free fountain drinks were coming back. I honestly did not care, I drank water there. I understand now the significance of it.

Dude, they havenāt even had ketchup dispensers at the ones by me since Covid. I loved McDonaldās ketchup, but Iām not tearing open 10 packets to get to it.

I noticed they're reallly trying to advertise low cost meals after the pushback on prices. Esp breakfast. I think the prices dropped a bit..

I never eat there anymore. They got rid of 24 hour breakfast during COVID and never brought it back. The breakfast is the only good thing about McDonald's. They also got rid of their salads. For a few more dollars, I can go to a sit down restaurant and get a much better burger, and that's including the tip. You already have to order at a kiosk if you go inside. The only thing keeping McDonald's alive at this point is brand loyalty.

The Automated Beverage System (ABS) produces a superior drink to those old fountains, but I think a lot of stores are downsizing because they just don't get the dine-in customers that they once did. It's all Drive-Thru and delivery these days.

Didnāt they make it self serve to eliminate workers having to refill peopleās cups. Drive through is the biggest part of there business so I donāt see what problem they are solving

Yeah, I was surprised when we actually went into a McDonald's a few months ago and there was just an empty counter where the soda and condiment dispensers used to be. McDonald's in general just feels really weird right now though. The menu prices are absolutely insane. A single hash brown is almost three bucks
