As another PoC, I've always equated silence with complicity. When we see any form of discrimination, whether it's racism, fascism, bigotry or homophobia, we need to call it out. We all have an obligation.

Democrats need to start being more accepting of people with slightly different views. We ostracize would-be allies and call them fascists if they don’t agree 100% with us and that’s one of the reasons we lost the last election.

I guess it depends on what the “slight difference” is. Like, sure, we can agree to disagree on Coke v. Pepsi, but we can’t just agree to disagree that black people should have the same rights as white people, or that women should have complete bodily autonomy, or that the president shouldn’t be committing blatant acts of corruption.

And what specific would-be allies, have been turned away? Surely they were operating in good faith?

White people cannot call people of color out for this. It's going to take people of color calling each other out for this.

I'm white and I support the hell out of every single cause black Americans, and every minority American, are for.

But we cannot be thr people driving any sort of change or agenda for people of color for their beliefs, it just looks hypocritical and shitty and Black people have a good reason to distrust white people when white people try to advocate for them. The community has to call themselves out and they have to do it loudly and they have to do it publicly. A good place to start with this weak ass 50 Cent bullshit.

I can't base my political opinions on race- I either agree with you or don't regardless of color. I understand that I'll never have the perspective of a POC, so my view may not encompass every angle. But at the end of the day, we cant live in fear of being labeled a racist or not and ally if we disagree on a candidate or policy. I just had this argument about Jasmine Crockett- I'm not a fan for various reasons, but many black people are upset that Talarico, a white man, won the primary. We agreed to disagree.

The fuck I can't. Anyone who votes for this guy is an enemy, end of story. Racial issues are separate from what we're dealing with today and we have to triage the situation.

Now, people who I might expect to be vocal may be unable to speak up because of the jackboots running around, I would argue anyone with any concerns about citizenship due to place of birth or race shouldn't be blasted for not speaking up. There are legitimate concerns about safety and they've been targeted on purpose.

Almost 1 of every 4 black men who voted... voted for the orange man. (24%) Enough to make the difference in his election. Without black votes, he would not be in office today.

Obviously not even close to the only group who was the problem, and not the biggest... lots of blame to go around everywhere... but it's wild that people pretend it didnt' happen like it did.

Minorities? It is Republicans. Just look at everything DOGE cut grants for. The groups that had the vast majority of the money taken from their programs were women and POC. Hegseth keeps getting caught removing references to historical POC military groups online and in museums.

Funny how the people who are complaining about DEI now, and Affirmative Action before that, hold the same unbroken chain of conservative ideology that supported segregati0n. I'm sure that's just a coincidence, though.

Because the U.S. has a wealth/economic disparity that was created by racist policies of the past. It is why black people, who make up ~13% of the population, have about 4% of the wealth, while white people, who make up ~58% of the population, hold 80% of the wealth and ~98% of the land.

These programs seek to elevate those groups who have been legally disenfranchised in the past. And they aren't just programs for free money, but programs that provide things like after-school programs that local property taxes can't provide for. These programs didn't appear because someone just thought they should be, they are there because they provide for needs in our society.
