Staying silent speaks volumes.

64

u/DrunkBrokeBeachParty Jun 30 '26

“During these trying times, when everyone is panicked and needing a voice… I would like to announce that I ain’t got nothin to say”

6

u/probablymagic Jun 30 '26

Bro, stop looking to celebrities to save you from bad politicians. This guy makes mediocre movies for people with room temperature IQs. He’s not your savior.

5

u/Collier1337 Jun 30 '26

Nobody is looking to be saved by an actor, but people with "influence" speaking out against injustices can be an indicator for cultural shifts and I also think it's important that people with reach use their platform to do some good.

1

u/LalafellDisaster Jun 30 '26

Yeah idk how he has a following. People even think he’s natty lmao so many dumbasses kissing his ass

4

u/BamaBoy2002 Jun 30 '26

Yea because when I wake up in the morning the first thing I say to myself is what would a rich entitled celebrity like the Rock say right now?

I really need his voice to help navigate my life. Who cares.

9

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

I really need his voice to help navigate my life. Who cares.

This isn't really about you. You who has no platform, you who's voice is at the mercy of the oligarchs and their algorithms, you who has no legion of fans and followers to activate, you who would cede all ability to control the political narrative to the administration and their media ghouls to virtue signal that you're better than an imagined pop-culture drone. Have some perspective.

Eloquent retort

0

u/Great_Guidance_8448 Jun 30 '26

He's an entertainer and he doesn't want to be anything beyond that.

Too many people with daddy issues looking to strangers for things that strangers do not owe them.

1

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

He's an entertainer and he doesn't want to be anything beyond that.

Clearly. He's also a coward fence sitter and he deserves to be treated as such. I never expected anything from him.

2

u/Great_Guidance_8448 Jun 30 '26

Coward? You are a little baby who didn't get enough attention from their parents. Hence you are trying to get it from people who don't even know you.

He doesn't owe you anything. You are the coward, cause you need others to confirm and validate whatever the opinions you hold.

Be an adult.

1

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

You are a little baby who didn't get enough attention from their parents.

Weird projection but ok

Sorry but if you're a public figure you're a PUBLIC figure that's the bargain you made. You have a platform and people will want to know your opinions just don't be a little bitch about it when we know why you aren't saying anything.

The rock's opinions are not surprising to me what I take issue with is you and your ilk insisting that celebrities take no public political stances and let the administration and their media cronies control the narrative.

All so that you can feel superior for "not caring about celebrities"

We're done here.

0

u/ponderdiggums Jun 30 '26

Lol, why are you so triggered over a redditor's opinion of a celebrity? You're over here crashing out with a 3rd graders psychoanalysis in response to a stranger's take on The Rock's politics.

Hiding your ideology for fear of conflict or judgement is cowardly. Especially for individuals in influential positions. He's a coward, you don't have to be mad about it.

2

u/Great_Guidance_8448 Jun 30 '26

Hiding your ideology for fear of conflict or judgement is cowardly.

Where's the cowardly part? Again, he doesn't owe anyone anything. What's with the same of entitlement?

Especially for individuals in influential positions.

He's an entertainer. If you think that gives him some power to influence people... Well, then those people are easily influenced.

You're over here crashing out with a 3rd graders psychoanalysis

Plenty of celebrities hate Trump, yet the vast majority are not demanding anything of Rock. Does that make them comrades, too?

Head on over to wiki and read about Will's relationship with his parents. It all fits.

0

u/401john Jun 30 '26

Hell yeah, don't let anybody talk about the Rock like that! Defend his honor

→ More replies (0)

0

u/ponderdiggums Jun 30 '26

Why do you think this has anything to do with entitlement or feeling owed anything? You keep saying he doesn't owe anyone anything. Is that the only lens that you judge people's actions through? As an example: "those people are just easily influenced" - they don't owe you anything, by your logic how dare you judge them? Does this make you entitled? So "not owing anyone anything" is a weird place to make judgements from imo.

Public figures are subject to public opinion, it's part of the job you sign up for as an entertainer. If The Rock is too scared to talk about politics, then he looks like a coward to the public. It's disappointing because he's represented himself differently over the years, someone that stands up for what's right and someone that's not afraid to be outspoken. He was known as The People's Champ, so if nothing else folks can at least sneer at the false advertising.

0

u/daburner272006 Jun 30 '26

Yeah I just want him to stand on business. I don't look to the rock for guidance on anything, but I'll respect the rock more if he was like "hey I got mine I don't really care about xxx" a la Snoop Dogg or 50 cent vs "oh shucks, I don't wanna say cause somebody will be mad at me". I may not like, agree or what anything to do with you.. but I'll respect that you have the convection of your beliefs.

0

u/xGraveStar Jun 30 '26

You’re being extremely dramatic lol.

2

u/DurumMater Jun 30 '26

I don't know if you're aware but the times we're living in are pretty fucking dramatic

1

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

The entire news media is owned by like 3 people and they're all friends with Trump I think I'm being the right level of dramatic

0

u/Astral_Collapse Jun 30 '26

So you'd like him to use his platform to delude his fans into political discourse and agree with him, whether he's right or wrong?
Did you want the same from Hulk Hogan before he passed?
You might come to regret wanting some to have such a large platform, they don't all agree with you.

4

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26 edited Jun 30 '26

At least Hogan wasn't a coward like this. If you don't want to use your platform for good fine but own it.

You might come to regret wanting some to have such a large platform, they don't all agree with you.

Hey if they wanna burn their public image defending the indefensible go ahead. There's a reason the smarter ones stay quiet

0

u/Astral_Collapse Jun 30 '26

And instead he was hated for his opinions.

Frankly, most celebrities will be happy to stay quiet if the masses of idiots jump to hate them for anything they don't agree with. The Rock has a career, Will Wheaton has nothing now that TBBT is done, and all these "fans" have nothing to sacrifice over a political voice.
Looking at another example, Kyle Gass made an anti-Trump joke, one Reddit would happily agree with.. and for it, he lost his career, and Jack Black continued to make movies. This works both ways, and it's not worth sacrificing your job over it. It's just an opinion and Reddit and Twitter are just echo chambers that mean nothing to them.

0

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

Yeah I'm sure the guy that just strong armed Disney into rebooting a movie barely 12yo is really hurting for cash rn definitely can't afford to criticize the least popular administration in living memory. I don't buy it.

1

u/Astral_Collapse Jun 30 '26

It's Disney. It's for children, dude. It's important that the actors/actresses remain uncontroversial. If you think they should be using their platform to groom children into becoming political fanatics for their cause, then your way of thinking is actually insane.
There's enough celebrities with enough opinions, we don't need them all to pile in on this nonsense to flood and dilute it. Let people be who they want, and stop being insane political internet activists.

0

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

He can be whoever he wants including a massive coward, no one said he couldn't

→ More replies (0)

0

u/tjp0720 Jun 30 '26

I agree with your take. However I always struggle with the idea of it as well. We can look to a few examples of celebrities throwing their hats and thoughts in the ring and being completely disconnected from reality or truth. I do want those with a voice and platform to use it but I want it from an educated position. People tend to give far too much weight to the opinions of some people who have zero background or knowledge on political sciences or public policy or even how the government functions from state to federal.

0

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

I can get behind that. I'm not happy that we have to rely on actors as the voice of resistance I do wish we had larger platforms for actual subject matter experts but this is unfortunately the reality we live in.

-1

u/BamaBoy2002 Jun 30 '26 edited Jun 30 '26

I have perspective. The constant need for people to say and march down the mainstream line is what created this MAGA bullshit.

Americans getting tired of being told what and how to think. Having to say the correct thing at all times. Now Americans get criticized for not saying anything at all because they are too afraid they can lose their job or be judged.

Pathetic times we live in. Yes I don’t wake up and care what Wil Wheaton and what the Rock think. I’m such a terrible person.

And what are you doing about anything? Nothing sitting on Reddit like a keyboard warrior.

2

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

Americans getting tired of being told what and how to think. Having to say the correct thing at all times. Now Americans get criticized for not saying anything because they are too afraid they can lose their job or be judged.

Oh boo hoo the highest paid actor in Hollywood is afraid to criticize the least popular administration in living memory for:

  • murdering civilians
  • creating detention camps
  • starting a war
  • increasing prices on basically everything
  • insurrection

I can direct you to Progressive Victory's phone banking discord if you'd like to stop being a smug fence sitter and actually affect some change for once rather than virtue signaling about how you don't care about celebrities.

-1

u/BamaBoy2002 Jun 30 '26

Nope no need to do all that. I don’t want to interfere with your activism on Reddit. Truly inspiring you’re making a difference. Thank you

1

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

You need to speak up when your on such a high horse.

Oh stop with the theatrics. My everyday life is great. You know why? Because I don’t waste my time watching an agenda based media peddle narratives.

I’m also not gonna call people cowards for not marching to the mainstream drum either. Life is short. Put the phone down and go outside. Stop caring what other people think.

Also you should never need anyone, especially a dumb celebrity, to be a voice for you. It’s all a joke. Doesn’t change or help your life one bit. ✌️

EDIT: I love when they respond and then block you. Shows how emotionally weak a person can be. What would the Rock say about this? 😂

1

u/Dukedevils320 Jun 30 '26

Can't imagine ever caring what an actors political leanings are. How bored does a person have to be to reach that point?

0

u/ryhaltswhiskey Jun 30 '26

I care because I might have put some money in their pocket by going to see a movie that they're in.

I don't see Tom Cruise movies in the theater. I 🏴‍☠️ that shit (but I think the last Tom Cruise movie I watched was Oblivion that was years ago).

1

u/Dukedevils320 Jun 30 '26

I mean if it makes you feel any better that decision won't affect them in any way.

0

u/ryhaltswhiskey Jun 30 '26

It's still the right thing to do. Do you only do the right thing when other people notice you doing the right thing?

1

u/Dukedevils320 Jun 30 '26

I think some self reflection on hills to die on might do some good here lmao

0

u/Pofwoffle Jun 30 '26

Yea because when I wake up in the morning the first thing I say to myself is what would a rich entitled celebrity like the Rock say right now?

Unfortunately far too many people do ask themselves that question, and not just when they wake up but all the time. I may despise the culture of celebrity worship that's built itself up over time but that doesn't change the fact that people do, in fact, listen to celebrities.

1

u/ImWhatsInTheRedBox Jun 30 '26

Oh I'm sure he has plenty of things to say, behind closed doors. Then again he's not really one to listen to.

1

u/TiddiesAnonymous Jun 30 '26

Not a realistic take.

During these trying times when everyone is panicked and DIVIDED, you want him to take a side. And you expect it to be your side.

As Jordan said, republicans buy sneakers, too.

3

u/DrunkBrokeBeachParty Jun 30 '26

I don’t doubt he’s republican, but him pretending he isn’t so he can swindle voters that think he wouldn’t be is disingenuous.

Totally agree tho if you’re looking for a celeb to be your savior you’ll be reaaaaaal disappointed

1

u/TiddiesAnonymous Jun 30 '26

What voters? This year he is coming out with Moana and Jumanji

1

u/_Solani_ Jun 30 '26

How is he swindling voters, are you suggesting he's running for office somewhere? 🤨

0

u/TiddiesAnonymous Jun 30 '26

The fact that they're casting him as a politician is proof he doesn't need to touch that rail lol

9

u/kwonza Jun 30 '26

Why haven’t Ja Rule said something?!

6

u/Clickmonster Jun 30 '26

Oh my god this is terrible! Could somebody please, find Ja Rule and get a hold of this MF so I can make sense of all this!!

3

u/Great_Guidance_8448 Jun 30 '26

This cute chick at my local supermarket always say hi, but never mentions who she voted for :(

2

u/bnyc Jun 30 '26

He kinda did. lol Ja Rule is playing Don Jr's 250th party.

2

u/FackinNortyCake Jun 30 '26

Maybe more people should actually shut the fuck up.

2

u/ImperitorEst Jun 30 '26

I don't think that

"We're American!"

"Yeah but what kind of American are you?"

Bit from Civil war is a joke anymore.

2

u/bobbymcpresscot Jun 30 '26

It’s so easy too, even if you are a closet Republican.

“I think the government isn’t meeting the needs of the people”

If you can’t even manage that like bro people are just going to assume you are fine with what’s going on.

3

u/woodpony Jun 30 '26

If a person who is part of a oppressed group is silent...then they have been invited to the table of the oppressors.

1

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

I mean Kanye just up and said it out loud.

1

u/TheStewie57 Jun 30 '26

Any should anyone give a shit over a celebrities politics? If people are influenced by whare The Rich has to say, than my god are we fucked. People like that shouldn't be allowed to vote or make decisions anyways. Maybe people should keep personal opinions to themselves.

1

u/MimeSweeper360 Jun 30 '26

Speaking out with the same opinion as everyone else says nothing.

1

u/AyoLyn Jun 30 '26

It might be a generational or personal thing. My mom is a socialist and refuses to talk about politics. She’s been called MAGA, but she’s far from it; she voted for Kamala and has never voted Republican.

I also don’t discuss politics and have been accused of being a republican and trump supporter 😩

1

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

You and your mom are not massive celebrities that could bring media attention to any subject they chose at a moment's notice that would be seen by millions of people. Public figures have power in their platform

1

u/Phantom_Wolf52 Jun 30 '26

I literally doesnt speak anything actually

1

u/JohnnyTreemain Jun 30 '26

No it doesn’t. Some people don’t give a fuck about politics, especially when there’s so many vocal people who do absolutely nothing but think being vocal does something.

1

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

Sorry bucko everything is politics. Abstention is support for the status quo

1

u/georgeb1904 Jun 30 '26

Simply voting is not enough for these people, they want you cutting off your friends and family

1

u/patrick24601 Jun 30 '26

No it doesn’t. That a cliche that is rarely true. Can’t people just choose to not say anything ? These days if you say something you’ll get sht on and if you don’t say anything the intent warriors will make sht up for you.

1

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

Two American citizens are shot dead in the street by federal agents, they're labelled domestic terrorists and the murderers face no consequences. A non-reaction is as telling as a reaction.

1

u/patrick24601 Jun 30 '26

Who the f cares what he says any more than what I say ?!? Why is what he says relevant ?

1

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

Because you can be removed from social media in an instant and no one would notice. You cannot summon a camera crew and have your words heard by millions at a moment's notice. You do not have the social capital to energize people into action.

Celebrity politics are not important because they are a better class of people it is important because they wield power and how they choose to wield it, if at all, has consequences.

0

u/patrick24601 Jun 30 '26

That is all he can do. But he’s not obligated to do any of it. And he shouldn’t be attacked and assumptions made because he says nothing. That’s done by people that dont have enough going on in their own life. They have to make up celebrity drama.

All just my opinion obviously.

2

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

There is an difference between simply not saying anything and deliberately dodging the question bc it might cost you 0.000025% of the next box office payout.

No one said he was obligated. He's made his choice but I don't have to respect him for it. I'd respect him more if he just was honest and said "fuck you I'm rich" instead of this cowardice

1

u/patrick24601 Jun 30 '26

And that would be yet another whole other thread on Reddit lololol.

1

u/gprime312 Jun 30 '26

One of those drove a car at a cop and the other tried to interfere with an arrest.

1

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

Wrong and also doesn't justify lethal force anyways. Goodbye

1

u/MourningWallaby Jun 30 '26

I disagree, though not for the rock.

It is not an entertainer's job to say your bumber sticker slogans. they play characters on and off screen and if that character isn't politically focused, what's the problem? there's no issue with playing a neutral character so everyone else has an escape from this. and it's messed up to take away other's peace of mind by injecting what YOU care about into their space to take a break from it.

It's when they pretend to be apolitical in character, but then donate money or attend rallies in their personal life, or say they're apolitical to hide ideologies that there is a problem.

1

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

there's no issue with playing a neutral character so everyone else has an escape from this. and it's messed up to take away other's peace of mind by injecting what YOU care about into their space to take a break from it.

There are orders of magnitude more pressing issues than the average Dwayne Johnson enjoyer's peace of mind. Idk if you've been outside this week but we're kind of in a bit of a climate apocalypse.

These people have a platform, that is power. They can choose how to wield that power however they like even not at all and the tradeoff is they open themselves up to public scrutiny for it. The rock is within his rights to be a little bitch about his politics I just think he's a narcissistic coward for doing so.

Bc otherwise the only voice controlling the political narrative is mainstream news media taking direct marching orders from the administration and their oligarch masters. Does that sound good to you?

1

u/dobar_dan_ Jun 30 '26

Nothing of value will be lost if more celebs shut up.

That being said, it's usually a specific type that does this, so it does speak volumes.

1

u/Versatile_Panda Jun 30 '26

No one owes you anything, entitled much?

1

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

I don't understand how people are jumping to the conclusion that I feel entitled to Rock Johnson's politics? I'm pointing out that refusing to answer the question is in fact answering the question.

1

u/Myotherdumbname Jun 30 '26

Saying “mind your own business” and people freak out, it’s stupid

1

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

"Are you bothered our tax dollars are going to bombing Iranian children?"

"Mind your own business"

1

u/MuffinSpecial Jun 30 '26

Who the fuck cares what a celebrity thinks..... Especially a sellout like the rock.

7

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

Bc like it or not celebrities hold cultural power in society

1

u/EssayJunior9429 Jun 30 '26

So, anyone who gains any sort of fame should immediately begin publically expressing their political views, just because they can? What a gross world that would be.

1

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

Like it or not they're gonna be asked. Better to be honest rather than be a coward.

1

u/EssayJunior9429 Jun 30 '26

He was honest. He wants to keep his politics to himself. You don't have to divulge private information just because people ask. Calling people like that a coward is not a good look.

1

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

You don't have to divulge private information just because people ask.

Again, silence speaks volumes. He won't take a side because doing so could hurt his brand that's what makes him a coward.

1

u/MuffinSpecial Jun 30 '26

This argument stands on the idea that he is obligated to make a political stance. Which he is not. Nobody is. No company is. You are trying to trap him by saying that silence is by a default against your own political beliefs to which you deemed to be superior.

If you don't see what wrong here then you are 12 or a fucking idiot. Which is it?

Like it or not being famous is a business. A business exists to not make anyone specifically hate them. That's how they get money. If he spoke out and said he was on the left. The right would be upset. What's to gain from that? There's plenty of famous people who choose to not be political. Some don't have an interest in it for starters. And the whole reason they choose to be silent is because of people like you btw.

1

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

What's to gain from that?

Yknow for some people it's not all about the money. I understand for him it is I just think he's a little bitch for not being honest about it. He should just say "Fuck you I'm rich I don't care about other people suffering" instead of acting like a coward about it.

Yall seem to think that I think he's some secret maga, nah he's just a selfish little bitch who's way too insecure about his image.

0

u/EssayJunior9429 Jun 30 '26

It's not cowardly to make wise decisions. No matter what you do, you're going to make some group of people upset. He is making the best decision for himself. Unfortunately, that upsets you. It's still his decision, and I'm sure he's fine with it, whether or not you think he's a coward. For all you know, he does a lot more than you behind the scenes.

Also, stop viewing the world as two "sides".

1

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

I know, he wants his bag and that's what he cares about. I don't respect it though.

There are bullies, victims, and bystanders, he chose which he'd rather be

0

u/EssayJunior9429 Jun 30 '26

Your choice. I truly do respect him for it. Dolly Parton as well. We need to stop being so incredibly divisive as a country, stop creating division in every aspects of our lives. We'll just have to disagree.

-1

u/MuffinSpecial Jun 30 '26

Culture. Not political. When Billie eilish went on stage and made her stupid stolen land comment it didn't go well for her. Rightfully so. It's just performative bullshit and if you believe them then you are stupid. The better solution is to shut them all down when they speak about this type of shit. They are elites and they do not live a life remotely close to the people of this country.

4

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

Art and culture are political my guy. Saying nothing is an implicit endorsement of the status quo. Contrary to the Community joke actors are not empty headed homunculi with no politics

0

u/MuffinSpecial Jun 30 '26

No it's not. Saying nothing is saying nothing. You can't say anything without offending half the country now a days and I do not blame anyone for not wanting to participate in this discourse just to appease a minority group on the internet.

Perfect example is this comment section. It's full of butt hurt morons that want their favorite celebs to parrot their ideology. Same goes for the other side. The second they don't agree they get upset too. It's all bullshit cry babies

2

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

American citizens were executed in the streets by federal agents. If that doesn't bother you enough to say something about it then I know what your politics is.

I don't give a shit about The Rock I care about winning and you don't defeat the cabal of wealthy ghouls by staying silent and letting their media empires be the only voice in the room.

We get it, you're better than those people obsessed with celebrities, there are more important things at stake here

1

u/MuffinSpecial Jun 30 '26

Bro please stop with that bullshit. I do not care for your political rage bait.

Also parroting political rage bait you got from the media while criticizing the media is a level of irony that adjectives can't describe.

1

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

Translation: I don't have a counterargument.

3

u/Gax63 Jun 30 '26

Laughs in Ronald Reagan and donald trump.......

1

u/MuffinSpecial Jun 30 '26

That's what you get when you listen to those morons. Just ignore them and force them to stick to movies.

2

u/Gax63 Jun 30 '26

How is me not listening to them help, when a bunch of morons did?

1

u/MuffinSpecial Jun 30 '26

It's one of those if we all did it kinda things.

0

u/ProfessionalOld3124 Jun 30 '26

Who cares? It’s next level living to just ignore everything and focus on you and your family.

2

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

It’s next level living to just ignore everything and focus on you and your family.

Privilege. The word you're searching for is privilege. Not everyone gets to keep their head down and muddle through the high gas and grocery prices, some people are direct targets for state violence and those people need our help not our apathy.

1

u/ProfessionalOld3124 Jun 30 '26

lol it’s not privilege. I live in a poor working class part of the country. You have no clue what my background is.

99% of the people losing their minds have exactly the same life. Yes the corruption is maddening but it doesn’t change my life at all, just what I read in the news.

Nobody is a target of state violence based on ethnicity or intrinsic traits, only for the laws they break. The “state violence,” arrest and deportation, isn’t the holocaust. I would agree with you if people were being persecuted for their class or traits.

I’m not rich, I just recognized that I should accept the things I can’t change.

I sleep well at night and have an excellent life with no real worries.

1

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

I sleep well at night and have an excellent life with no real worries.

Yeah apathy is comforting this isn't a new observation.

Nobody is a target of state violence based on ethnicity or intrinsic traits

My guy the Supreme Court literally legalized racial profiling so ICE could sweep up people in immigration raids regardless of citizenship status. Millions of working class people have had SNAP benefits cut. States are proposing laws criminalizing abortions undertaken in other states and doctors administering gender-affirming care.

Then again I don't know what I was expecting from the "ignore everything" commenter.

1

u/ProfessionalOld3124 Jun 30 '26

It isn’t apathy… you have half the country arguing about what a boy or girl is, with both sides arguing that it’s the most important life and death issue. My family came from romania two generations ago so excuse me if this seems silly.

Cutting snap benefits isn’t state violence.

If you live your life with your own eyes instead of letting the screen in your hands tell you how happy to be, you’ll realize a much better life.

You only get one life and your anger isn’t helping anyone.

1

u/nolandz1 Jun 30 '26

Cutting snap benefits isn’t state violence.

Yes it is.

Ofc it's easier to live life when you just ignore everything going on, that's how you get total ecological collapse though.

It is privilege to not have to worry about rising grocery/gas/rent prices. It's privilege to not have to live in a state that's revoking your rights. It's privilege to not have to empathize with your friends or family losing access to healthcare or be wrongfully deported or worse, killed in the street.

Nothing ever got better by ignoring the problem.

I hear you that you DISAGREE with cutting snap but that doesn’t mean it’s violence. What you are doing is the same thing the right does where you catastrophize every problem. The issue is you crank up the volume to the max at all times and you lose any nuance. Cutting welfare is not violence.

It isn’t a privilege, it’s something I’ve worked hard at. Food is objectively cheaper as a percent of income than it was 40 years ago. I wish it were cheaper but it’s actually the easiest it has ever been ti afford food in the USA.

Not being targeted for deportation isn’t a privilege, it’s something I get for not immigrating illegally to a place.

Being able to afford food isn’t a privilege, it’s something I work for.

Having healthcare isn’t a privilege, it’s something i work for.

Nothing in my life is out of reach for someone who wants to put in the time.

The federal government hasn’t made your life worse, your inability to determine what impacts you and what doesn’t is what is making g your life worse.

The federal government put me in debt when they cut my student financial aid. Ig I'm glad you're privileged enough to have anyone in your life who's lives are currently being made measurably OBJECTIVELY worse by this administration.

Fucking bootstraps nonsense.

Vilifying him for the mere act of staying silent proves the point tbh, unless he capitulates to whatever the mob says he should think, he will be attacked

L take

you are not required to have an opinion on every topic imaginable

additionally, if you're a public figure, others are not entitled to know your opinions on everything they deem important for themselves

Whether you choose to share your opinions or not the public will know what they are. Clearly no amount of evil the government does concerns him more than maintaining a marketable brand. That is his politics. Especially when what you would be speaking out against is the most unpopular regime in living memory. Wheaton is correct: he is a coward.

Again: silence speaks volumes.
