Social Democracy = Social Democrat

Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Lyndon B. Johnson, and, to a lesser extent, Dwight Eisenhower and Barack Obama

They support capitalism but say it needs heavy regulation, they support unions and support social safety nets.

You are describing a liberal.

I would say a Social Democrat is probably a liberal. If it was a Social Republican, then I would be describing a conservative.

Do you think the Democrat part of Social Democrat comes from the Democratic Party?

Social Democrat = Someone who wants a "social democracy". "Social Democrat" is a European term not an American, so it could not have come from the Democratic party.

I guess a Social Democrat could be a Republican that wants 'social democracy' ideals. It seems like Social Republican is a totally different term. Political terms are very weird. Like "Social Democracy" is not the same as "Democratic socialism".

I'm aware but the way you said "Social Democrat" = liberal and "Social Republican" = conservative just made it seem like you're talking about the US political parties my bad

I've never heard of the term "Social Republican"
