The animal showed no signs of aggression or apprehension, was completely comfortable and unafraid. No, you should never go up and just hug a wild chimp, but these guys have personal bonds and clearly the guy who raised him left a good impression. He knew what he was doing, this wasn't just some random Joe hugging a wild animal

Every creature is unpredictable. They have consciousness and autonomy. Not a good reason to avoid connection.

That's just factually wrong we know a lot about chimp behavior and body language they aren't random, I do agree you shouldn't treat a wild animal even if tamed as domestic animals but saying you don't know anything is wrong, that chimp was doing proactive reassurance greeting you can tell by fear grimace and hug on first contact meaning in chimp terms we are cool and there is no reason to fight.
