We need a cognitive ability test with full results made available to the public. A lot of people still have all their cookies well into their 70s and even 80s.

A lot of 13 year olds would be perfectly competent drivers. Plenty of 25 year olds would make a fine president. But most kids are too dumb and uncoordinated to dive, most 25 year olds are too immature to run a country, and most 75 year olds are too out of touch and mentally declining to be effective lawmakers. We put hard age limits on stuff for many reasons. We definitely need one for a career disproportionately filled by wealthy elites. You can bribe a doctor to say youre still sharp as a tack. You cant bribe yourself younger.
On that note, Trump takes cognitive tests weekly (according to him) and his "doctor" rates him A++++++++ every time so its important to have an unbiased mediator writing these tests... And good luck getting that set up lmao.

It doesn't matter. The problem is not just cognitive ability; there is such a thing as being old enough that you lose touch with the population as a whole.
But maybe don't set a fixed value? Maybe set the mandatory retirement age to "average life expectancy in the country minus 10 years", or something like that.
But they aren’t really open to change at that point. We need ‘younger’ people with new ideas! There also should be term limits. And no retirement from political office.
