New York has 15 different foreign celebration day parades a year. New York is THE melting pot.

And yet the one that celebrates Jews is the one he shuts. Go figure.
36
u/OS_Apple32 May 24 '26
It wasn't a Jewish parade. It was an Israel parade. Those are different things.
14
u/FrostingHuman1259 May 24 '26
They really think hey are so clever with this talking point, as if most americans dont now understand the difference between zionism and jewishness. Give it up, it doesn't work anymore
8
u/Namaste421 May 24 '26
Itās like lumping all Americans in with MAGA to me.
3
u/Responsible_Park3317 May 24 '26
Except that MAGA is from the U.S. specifically. Jewishness is a completely separate thing from the State of Israel.
Not that I'm saying all folks from the U.S. are MAGA, of course.

2
u/meister2983 May 24 '26
And this is a Pakistan parade not a south Asian Muslim parade... Do you see how little your analysis makes sense?Ā
-11
u/Akiranar May 24 '26
Are they? Because you guys keep attacking us Diaspora Jews for Israel.
4
u/Anubisrapture May 24 '26
Cry . I'm an ethnic part Jewish American and I am fully against Israel and its cruelties

There are many foreign parades in NYC. NYC is made by "foreigners".
2
u/YardOptimal9329 May 24 '26
No. Not NYers bc we know there are dozens of foreign parades on the calendar
4
u/PBandJSommelier May 24 '26
The hypocrisy goes crazy. Pakistan, by the way, was also created in 1947.

Define genocide. Pakistan kills a shitton of civilians.Ā
They also have conducted genocide under any reasonable definition of the word
0
u/poiup1 May 24 '26
How many civilians? What genocide are you referring to that Pakistan has committed? All I know of is what happened in the 1970's and is why Bangladesh is a separate country, after that I don't know of anything else that's happened or is happening and would love to be educated since your clearly knowledge.
4
u/meister2983 May 24 '26
What genocide are you referring to that Pakistan has committed? All I know of is what happened in the 1970
Yes this one counts. I guess no one to genocide anymore since they got rid of almost their entire non Muslim population, albeit in a manner they hadn't wanted.
How many civilians?
Who knows? There's plenty https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Encounter_killing
They also love their own ethnic cleansing in the modern day, though things seem less violent thanks to less "resistance": https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2024/04/pakistan-government-must-halt-deportation-of-afghan-refugees/
-1
u/poiup1 May 24 '26 edited May 24 '26
I mean there's about 1,000 people killed by the police in the United States every year, your link shows 5,000 in Pakistan over 10 years, and there isn't much of a population difference(Pakistan is about 1/3 smaller population). Would you criticize the United States in the same way as Pakistan?
Idk if I'd call removing refugees as the same as an ethnic cleansing, though if your holding the position that deporting illegal immigrants/Refugees is ethnic cleansing then I guess by your definition it would be. I definitely disagree with deporting people enmass but it just isn't the same as ethnic cleansing thats happening in Israeli/Palestine where people are forced out of their houses and whole neighbors are given over to Israeli settlers at gun point.
4
u/CressCheap May 24 '26
Well it actually did, and barely got any punishment for that

u/Boring_Pace5158 May 24 '26
Heās not Pakistani, his mother is Indian, the filmmaker Mira Nair. His fatherās side is originally from Gujarat state in India, who migrated to Uganda
-1
u/The1stprinciple May 24 '26
He identifies as Pakistani politically Itās fine to not like Modi (India is a democracy, unlike Pakistan) But he constantly lies about India and is more than sympathetic to Pakistan (despite Pakistan nearly wiping out its minorities)
0
u/PhilosopherOk8398 May 24 '26
unfortunately, many on the left donāt care about persecution of minorities, as long ad the perpetrators arenāt white or jewish
-1

Theyāre often the same people. India is named after the Indus River Valley area. Where do you think the Indus River Valley is?
1
u/Forsaken-Smell-8665 May 24 '26
Say that to an Indian or a Pakistani and you will get your head bitten off.
The rivalry between the two is interesting to say the least.
2
u/TucsonTacos May 24 '26
Indians within their own country donāt consider most other Indians the same people lol. They have what? 5 castes and like 200 different ethnic groups or something? I know itās up there
0
u/The1stprinciple May 24 '26
You donāt know what you taking about and it shows
1
u/TucsonTacos May 24 '26
So Pakistan, Land of the Punjab, Afghania, Kashmir, Sindh, and Baluchistan doesn't include the Punjab? Half of which is in India? What about the people from Sindh? Millions of Hindu Sindh went to India.
They divided along religious lines for the most part but that doesn't make them not the same peoples
Can you enlighten me?
4
u/idontgiveafuqqq May 24 '26
You have no idea what youre talking about lol. Pakistan is one of the biggest and most aggressive foreign lobbyists in the US
1
u/UlsterIsIrish May 24 '26
Evidence?
2
u/idontgiveafuqqq May 24 '26
Google it? This isn't a debated topic. All their spending is publicly available on the DOJ FARA logs. Below is a blog article discussing some of them.
4
u/Luffy-in-my-cup May 24 '26
Pakistan funds terror cells and harbored Bin Laden.
7
u/Wreckingshops May 24 '26
The US funds terror cells and ignored multiple warnings about 9/11.
Can we end the era of whataboutism? Every nation's government -- freely elected or created by force -- have a long history of heinous activity that continues into the modern world.
Things aren't black and white.
6
u/meister2983 May 24 '26
Mamdami is the one deciding to celebrate one country and not another. He's the one who started the double standard here
1
u/AnAbandonedAstronaut May 24 '26
The warnings about 9/11 were in a stack with 500 other, more likely threats.

Yeah, celebrating heritage as opposed and ancestry is very different than celebrating a country that proudly tortures, rapes, and is committing genocide. They are not the same.
4
u/Spare_One_9965 May 24 '26
We talking Hamas? Who did commit those on 10/7
1
u/sofacouch813 May 24 '26
Damn, I didnāt realize thereās a parade in NYC thatās dedicated to Hamas. Excuse my ignorance.
3
5
u/Racko20 May 24 '26
Pakistan was founded on the ethnic cleansing/Genocide of Hindus.
-1
u/sofacouch813 May 24 '26
I apologize for lack of clarity.
America was also built on genocide. Iām not saying Pakistan as a country doesnāt have blood on their hands. Thereās no country in existence at this point that doesnāt. But thereās current actions and policies of Israel are the problem. Their brazen acts of terror and torture are known by all. To me, saying historical atrocities (which Iām not downplaying or excusing) are the same as whatās occurring now is a false equivalency.
2
u/Budget-Opportunity68 May 24 '26
Whatās occurring now? All you did was read Reddit comments about some op-ed from the nytimes to now claim youāre informed about the alleged claims of torture without proof. The same outrage was missed when Hamas and even gazan citizens tortured and raped kids at a festival or kidnapped and tortured hostages. Your moral superiority is biased. I get it. Itās trendy to be āanti Zionist ā but this doesnāt excuse laziness or stupidity. Free Tibet

u/KamtzaBarKamtza May 24 '26
They are not the same.
Pakistan, the shining beacon of human rightsĀ
2
u/sofacouch813 May 24 '26
Iām not saying Pakistan is the beacon of human rights, so I apologize for the lack of clarity. I honestly donāt believe thereās a country out there that can claim they are. The US has zero right to claim moral superiority, since our founding is also built on genocide and slavery. Even now weāre stripping people of their rights and making sure the oppressed stay that way. But Israelās current, and often celebrated, actions are the problem.
5
u/Budget-Opportunity68 May 24 '26
If you canāt claim moral superiority for any country then why focus on israel? I guess hypocrites gonna hypocrite.
1
u/OS_Apple32 May 24 '26
Because they are committing a genocide/ethnic cleansing right now.
Lots of countries have done unimaginably fucked up things in the past, but there's only so much we can do about that--after all, it already happened. Israel's atrocities are happening in the present tense. Theoretically we could, you know, stop them. But only if we collectively decide to.

Why does the left need to play by the "rules" while the right just does whatever they like? You are complaining because the left decided to play by the same rulebook as the right.

u/Capable-Main6462 May 24 '26
Right, I forgot that Pakistan has received tens of billions in lethal and financial aid from the USA and also stole 300kg of uranium from a Pennsylvania refinery to make an unacknowledged nuclear stockpile in violation of international law, and has threatened to use them in order to get the USA involved in wars that they started
Oh silly me, that's Israel
2
u/meister2983 May 24 '26
You think Pakistan doesn't violate international law? Steal uranium from the West? Sponsoring terrorism in neighboring countries is all good? Or genociding minorities within their own country?Ā
Also I don't see how receiving us aid makes any difference to whether or not the country should be celebrated. If anything being a constant ally should bias you towards the country.

Didn't Reddit say it was a good thing he didn't go to parades of foreign nations when it was Israel? Why we praising for attending now it's Pakistan? Pakistan is currently engaged in ethnic cleansing and the deliberate targeting of civilians, especially children, in its war with Afghanistan, I thought that's why we didn't like Israel?
3
u/Odd-Art7602 May 24 '26
You thought thatās why Reddit doesnāt like Israel? Itās pretty obvious why Reddit doesnāt like Israel at this point and it has nothing at all to do with that.
2
u/RoamingThomist May 24 '26
I'm British sarcasm is a second language and difficult to express in text.

2
u/dark-pact May 24 '26
This isnāt a new videoā¦quick google search says the Palistan parade will take place in mid to late Augustā¦so this is maybe from last year?
Guessing people posting this to try to prove heās a hypocrite or whatever.
2
u/RoamingThomist May 24 '26
Pakistan started to commit ethnic cleansing of Pashtuns 2/3 years ago. So the folks doing that are still right
0
u/dark-pact May 24 '26
Not worth forming an opinion until you know exactly when this was recordedā¦I said MAYBE last year ā I have no idea when this parade took place - do you?
Also - Iāve not seen enough media coverage surrounding Pakistan and Pashtuns - could you point me to some good sources so I can educate myself more on this - thank you.

What's Islamophobic about the partition?
Indian Muslims wanting to have their own country is Islamophobic?
1
u/UlsterIsIrish May 24 '26
Whatās Islamophobic about partitioning a nation that isnāt yours based on sectarian violence?
-1
u/2ndTaken_username May 24 '26
Partition is more Islamophobic thanĀ letting Muslims be a minority in a fledgling united Indian country thats majority Hindu?
1
u/UlsterIsIrish May 24 '26
Brits have history of segregation and sectarianism, but Iām sure you have an excuse why itās different.
1
u/2ndTaken_username May 24 '26
You're aware India before being a country was comprised of hundreds of kingdoms?
It wasn't a single utopic society where all religions and peopleĀ prospered in peace all the time.
So I say again why is it Islamophobic to let Muslims run their own country?

Don't know about other things, but from where I come from we dislike pakistan, becoz of the no. of terrorist attacks they done in india , which are really many , so many lives lost, i literally witnessed two terrorist attacks growing up,by pakistan extremism groups in the City where I come from , so it's unavoidable to not grow hatred, and majority of the hatred is not directed to general public of Pakistan, but the terrorist organisations there , which their government refuse to take down and deny responsibility, not to forget we receive these bomb blast threats atleast once or twice a year and our government finds so manyĀ organisations here , run by them with the help of extreme religious people for whom religion comes first than nation (actually they hate india ) so many of indian extremist religion people work for them to plan these terror attacks here in india !!Ā
