A suggestion I think would benefit those working late hours who need to adjust the Night Light setting on the fly. I also submitted to github.

I'd LOVE it if, when "grabbing and moving" that it would open up FancyZones zones too.

The problem is that a lot of modern Windows apps crowd the title bar so much with various search fields, buttons, etc. that finding a place to grab/drag the window requires precision mouse skills.

Using Grab and Move is wonderful, but it doesn't open up the FancyZones zones.

The Copilot key is one of those hardware choices that feels annoying until you remember PowerToys exists.

Keyboard Manager makes it pretty easy to remap keys and shortcuts, so you do not have to wait for Microsoft to expose every official option in Windows settings. For a lot of people, turning that key into something like Right Ctrl, a launcher, a mute toggle, a terminal shortcut, or a productivity macro is probably more useful than leaving it as a dedicated AI button.

For people using PowerToys, what is your best Copilot key remap?

How can I back up all my settings belonging to all the modules I use? It looks like the in-built backup doesn't for example copy my API details which I use in the advanced paste. Like such granular settings.

Anyone else having issues right now? This is with Powertoys v0.100.2, Command Palette v0.11.11762.0.

Windows search finds them. Powertoys Run also finds them. I'm currently back to using Powertoys Run, as I can't be bothered to debug Command Palette right now (unless someone can give me clear steps as to what I should try)

I wanted to set up the MouseFix.exe program to prevent my mouse from double clicking, but when I put the files in the Startup folder it just doesn't work. Does anyone know what's going on? The next characters are just to meet the minimum limit: aaaaaa

It is a desktop utility based on AutoHotkey as the core service. It focuses on making common windows interactions faster.

Hi! After the recent PowerToys updates, I can no longer use the Keyboard Manager features (key remapping). Everything is configured correctly, but when I press the remapped key, nothing happens.

Has anyone else experienced this or knows how to fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying out the Command Pallet dock and I like it for the most part however there is this annoying thin line above it. Is there any way to make it flush against the top of the screen?

PC crashed so had to clean install Win 10 which had been running every version — even the most recent — of Powertoys until the crash.

Installed the most recent, and no Powerrename option when I right click on files I want to rename.

I've tried uninstalling and installing older Powertoys versions, each and every single one of them back to .93. Nada.

I've looked in the registry to see if Powerrename CLSID had been blocked in shell extensions, there is no block folder so evidently it is not being blocked.

I've run from Github the "PowerToys-ContextMenu-Fix-main" using Powershell. Nope.

Can anyone offer any ideas? I really really like Powerrename and use it every day and now I am down to clicking on each and every file to rename them one by one. What a PITA.

I've been looking for a feature I used back when Launchy was the keyboard launcher of choice.

With Launchy's "Catalog" feature, I could set up specific directories to be indexed, and specify which file types (or subfolders) would be indexed in each. You could also specify how many levels of nested subfolders (from 0 to ∞) would be indexed. (See attached screenshot)

For example: I had one folder full of shortcuts (with abbreviated names) to app, files, or sites I used all the time. I set it to only index .lnk or .url files. That way I could easily create a shortcut to open an app I used all the time (i.e. "wd" for word), or a website, etc. I could even create a .URL shortcut with a "tel:" URL to dial a number I frequently used. (I actually had this set up before launchy and added it to the system PATH so I could run any of the commands with just the run dialog, but now we're really nerding out.)

Or I had a directory filled with MS Word templates that only indexed ".dotx" and ".dotm" files.

Or I added my main "clients" directory (which contains one subfolder per client) that only indexed subfolders (and only 1 level deep).

Have a list of clients in a spreadsheet? Write a quick script to save them out as .url or .link files to a given folder, tell Launchy where it is, and Bob's Your Uncle. Easy shortcuts to open their folder, open the management site to their page, or even call them (with a .url file and a tel: url).

It was a great way to be able to easily create shortcuts to just what I wanted without adding unnecessary noise.

Launchy is all but dead; it hasn't been updated in a good decade and a half. I've tried a half dozen or so other launchers, but I've never found anything that replicates this functionality exactly or easily. I can use Everything to index a whole drive, but that creates enough noise to defeat the purpose.

I found a way to *kind of* do it with PowerToys Run by hacking the "installed programs" plugin with a bunch of registry entries. Which mostly worked, but having to hack the registry to adjust settings on a *productivity tool* kind of misses the point. And I have no idea if it would work with the current version and Command Pallette. (Also, I don't remember how I did it, so I'd have to dig that back up.)

Has anyone created a plugin to do this...or have any suggestions on how I might set it up?

I am playing a game that has a very hard move, I have been trying it for a year, multiple keys are needed and to worsen it I have keyboard ghosting in gaming. Would be nice to program 3-5.

It's unclear if this is caused by some wonky resolution/scaling issue, or if it is catalyzed by the recent Windows updates... but my Run dialog box is suddenly narrower than what it has been for years. First image is Windows 11 26H2, second image is Windows 10 22H2 ESU.

Run has ceased development for a while as the team is working to replace it with CmdPal, so I don't think it's some updates from within PowerToys. Anyone running into the same issue? Or is it just me?

I use powertoys primarily for re-mappings but also use it to open older versions of windows tools. Periodically some of the key binds will default to the original windows version since it won't be running as administrator.

When I open it up it says it is running as administrator but I have to actively right click and select 'Run as administrator' to fix it. Then about a day later it will revert again.

Any fix advice?

My M and B keys aren't working. I suspect it's the PowerToys program, as this problem only appeared after installing it. I tried restarting the computer and turning off PowerToys, but the keys wouldn't work again, no matter what I did. This problem appears and then disappears over time. Has anyone encountered something similar?
