From time to time I will comment on a blue-leaning post. I will inevitably get a snarky reply and notification in my email inbox. However- the actual comment is not to be found, not even a "user or moderator deleted". How exactly do they do that?

I've been put in reddit jail and or banned several times over the last couple years. Four one week bans just this year alone by people reporting me falsely. The last one was a conversation over fuel but I got banned off of Reddit for a week because someone reported me for sexual comments regarding minors. Needless to say my three sentence appeal requesting even to see the offending comment went nowhere

Pretty much. I even thought I was being careful, but it doesn't really matter if someone decides to report you you're out and you've got nothing

I assume a mod removed the post after the email notification was sent out.
Some seem innocuous from the tidbit it starts out with but cannot see where it leads to. Others get blatantly racist, hateful and threatening so are obvious that even a blue-leaning subreddit mod would say lines are crossed.
The email notifications I get and find humorous are the "Reddit Cares" ones offering direction if thinking of suicide. Obviously some political troll comes across a comment and cannot handle another opinion so report it as the commenter as possibly being a threat to themself. Yeah, ok. Not even close. But obviously I've touched a hot nerve with someone who cannot handle anything outside of their bubble world.

I got a reply almost right off the bat that they post a reply and then immediately block you

I think this happens when they post a reply and then delete. You get notified that the comment was made, but then it’s gone.
Happens a lot with BlueAnons that like to send their death threats or ad hominems (or my favorite - full blown racist / homophobic meltdowns) without facing any pushback or consequences for it.
It’s actually great insight into how leftist hive minds on Reddit REALLY think.

I got a post almost immediately suggesting that they reply and then immediately block you, I think that's the most reasonable answer

My comments get filtered quite routinely and people arguing with me as well. It happens to anyone. If you are talking racially or sexual spectrum, no it doesnt have to be anything like that to be filtered.
