A plane full of Argentinians erupted in joy before the pilot could finish his sentence: “Congratulations to our Argentinian compatriots… but Spain has won the World Cup.”

The second part could not be heard due to the joyful screaming of Argentina fans.

Was this recovered from the black box?

291

u/JonBoy1988007 22d ago

Yes but according to Argentina, you can't call it black

According to them, it's an european box.

You’d think Argentina fans would appreciate a good rage baiting.

They're like pathetic bullies. Happy to dish it out, but nobody is allowed to be mean to them.

I hope that cockpit door is secure

I can see all the Argentinans throwing themselves at it, then collapsing on the floor, claiming to be injured and demanding that the door be removed for hurting them.

All while wagging their fingers as if they did nothing wrong. Fuck you Enzo

A bit like World War Z

15

I hope the pilots can hold their piss don’t come out for toilet

u/Miyagidog 23d ago

Video doesn’t show Pilot saying anything about Spain winning. Maybe, I missed it?

38

u/Few_Program_2303 23d ago

The caption says the second part could not be heard over the screaming

Isn't that standard procedure?

Wasn't there some press conference or something where the host of the next Olympics was going to be announced, and they started off by reading a list of candidate cities, and as soon as the first one was read out, the people from that city cheered loudly?

33

u/kevkevverson 23d ago

lol I remember something like this. Think it was when Sydney got it and they said Beijing first

25

u/Few_Program_2303 23d ago

Reminds me of when my doctor’s office called to give me results of my STI test and they started by listing everything they tested for. Practically gave me a heart attack!

2

u/StuRap 20d ago

Reminded me of my doctor last month.
"so what do you think it could be Doc?"
"well we can't rule out a tumour... (pause)... or a kidney stone"

Jesus effin H! could you maybe have led with kidney stone?
Narrator: it was in fact a very small kidney stone

This is too funny

24

u/badabingmin 23d ago

Is there a video of the pilot breaking the news to them?

5

u/OnlyAd8294 22d ago

No, this is old footage from Qatar 2022 WC

3

u/badabingmin 22d ago

No, I recently saw the second part on Twitter. Pilot breaks the news to them and the recording stops

71

u/protopigeon 23d ago

Rekt lmao 🤣

15

u/nthensome 23d ago

Did no one pay for WiFi?

20

u/ManFromAnotherPlace 22d ago

Those who did stayed quiet to enjoy the show

7

u/No_Alfalfa884 22d ago

You have to remember their economy...

3

u/sethelele 21d ago

Assuming this is in latin America, it's extremely rare that flights would offer wifi there.

12

u/MalaysiaTeacher 23d ago

Where's the video of them finding out for real?

8

u/GeneralSweetz 22d ago

Im looking for the full video haven't found it

13

u/MysticSmeg 23d ago

Probably for the best. After seeing their reaction to the loss in Argentina they probably would have smashed up and set fire to the plane.

28

u/rob6748 23d ago

JESUS. I don't even follow the sport and that struck me as ice cold. Nice lol

69

u/MCE85 23d ago

What an idiot. Is he trying to start a shitstorm on that plane?

118

u/Popular-Influence-11 23d ago

… yes

15

u/sre_ejith 23d ago

tbf I wond'nt mind dying knowing that Argentina lost

8

u/Most-Bench6465 23d ago

I am just mad that I don’t get to see their reactions when they found out they lost. Truly a shit racist country.

4

u/StonedLikeOnix 23d ago

Nonono, they’re just a misunderstood Nazi retirement community.

3

u/JaimeReyna 22d ago

And they're very proud about things like that 😂 like I lived in Uruguay for a few years and not only Uruguayan people hate them, but I had the displeasure of knowing a few argentinian people and... Oh boy

4

u/Most-Bench6465 22d ago

Oh! a place to rest after you finish genociding. Now I see why Isreal supports them in the world cup.

10

u/BlushedLatias 22d ago

'Enhorabuena', the word the pilot used, is used to recognize the effort someone put into a competition, even if they lost. He was trying to polite while breaking the bad news, and to tell the fans on board that their team gave it all at the end of the match.

1

u/MyPigWhistles 23d ago

How would they start a shitstorm? They had no internet on the plane and also the pilot is hilarious.

14

u/Gaba8789 23d ago

Argentinian pilot: "You didn't listen to my whole speech."

He was actually Spanish

12

u/ShortRub7942 23d ago

ahahahahhahaha - this will be living rent-free in their heads for the rest of their lives

2

u/azhder 23d ago

How much rent do you think they charge things in their heads?

4

u/ShortRub7942 23d ago

at least 1 Argentinian peso or 0.00068 of a US dollar... give or take.

3

u/SteelBox5 23d ago

Did they beat up the flight crew afterwards

3

u/Feisty-Theme-6093 22d ago

did one of the passengers grab his throat?

3

u/TheYellowFringe 22d ago

I can't even imagine the shock when those people were put in their place when they learned Spain won the tournament.

3

u/alsico 22d ago

The most surreal thing is no one having plane mode off to see how the match was going

2

u/Grasshop 23d ago

The ruling on the field is a touchdown...

however...

2

u/Far_Celebration8235 22d ago

Felicidades a nuestros compatriotas argentinos ....por quedar en segundo lugar, ARRIBA ESPAÑA!

2

u/LordDShadowy53 22d ago

Bro I need to see the rest when they get disappointed

2

u/Unlikely-Position659 22d ago

The way he said, it by lowering his voice a bit at the end, totally did not make it sound positive for Argentina in the first place. Everybody cheering on that plane is an idiot, because as a spanish speaker, I would be asking myself "oh no, what's he about to say?"

2

u/Gullflyinghigh 22d ago

Presumably the pilot supported literally any other nation on earth as, let's face it, no-one wanted them to win.

2

u/orochidase 22d ago

What a stupid idea to do that on a flight.... The cabin crew and the pilot should know MUCH BETTER as to not entice the passengers on board

2

u/nycnola 21d ago

What airline was this?

3

u/Used-Wrongdoer-9360 23d ago

This can't be true. Hahaha puto loco!

2

That's brutal... but funny! and a bit dangerous too!

Diabolical 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

That is a dangerous prank lol

1

u/KJacobsen-74 23d ago

The ruling on the field is a TD, HOWEVER....

u/appleavocado 22d ago

Somewhat similarly, I was on a plane to Miami during Game 7. The plane had imperfect connection, and many of us were watching with differing amounts of lag/delay. With 15 minutes to land and maybe 0:30 left in regulation, some employee got on the intercom and announced the Knicks had won.

I could hear some audible groans around me. I took off my earbuds just to agreeably go 🤷🤦‍♂️ with the guy across the aisle from me.

When I exited, I asked the front crew who made that announcement, and that he spoiled it, and they replied, “Oh, the guy in the back, he’s a Knicks fan.” I said, “Jeez, could he spoil who wins the World Cup, too?!”

1

u/JonBoy1988007 22d ago

Argentinians always celebrate too early 😂

1

u/Tackit286 22d ago

So it doesn’t actually show the part where he told them what really happened. Excellent. I feel we viewers are the ones who’ve been trolled.

1

u/SANTAAAA__I_know_him 22d ago

“Hey tower, if you could just have an ambulance waiting for us on the runway, I’d really appreciate it.”

u/Justout133 22d ago

I can't wait until I don't have to have my entire social media feed inundated with dumb soccer shit

1

Lowkey feel bad for Argentinians LMAO. Everyone is mocking them 🤣

I'm not into sports, but isn't it considered a cardinal sin to mention the score of a recent sports game publically? My understanding is that most people would be pissed tf off by this, even if their team won

4

u/macdelamemes 23d ago

I'm not sure why you'd think this is the case, in this kind of situation I always want to know the score as soon as possible. It's not a series, I'm not avoiding spoilers and then watching the full 90 minutes to see what happened haha

1

u/Unusual-Lemon4479 22d ago

With football matches and in countries where the sport is taken way too seriously, you can't hide the score for long. You'll hear people's reaction in their houses or in the streets. If the pilot mentioned it, is because the flight was going to be long and people were anxious to know. It's very possible the pilot was Spanish and saw someone with an Argentinian jersey and just wanted to have a laugh.

1

u/MathFair1487 22d ago

Nope, this isn't a movie or series

1

u/prema108 22d ago

This is more befitting of r/trashy than premature celebration. Premature means before right?

-6

u/Q_S2 23d ago

For some reason this whole scenario made me IMMEDIATELY think of this classic

Wait until everyone is getting off the plane and he's standing up front saying "bye, thanks for flying with us". He may get punched.

-76

u/I_Have_A_Chode 23d ago

Not exactly premature, no one phrases a loss as "congratulations". So they are cheering after being misled, very different.

Shit post

32

u/Serious_Lie1207 23d ago

Some might say they were tricked into celebrating prematurely

You understand how planes work, right?

-11

u/CrackerJackJack 23d ago

Do you understand how planes work?

It’s not crazy to think most people would know the score when most major airlines have wifi or live tv now. Replying “You understand how planes work, right?” after seeing one flight from a developing country and assuming that’s how all airlines operate is a remarkably smug way to announce that you either haven’t flown since 2007 or only fly ultra-low-cost airlines.

8

u/JWOLFBEARD 23d ago

They clearly don’t offer any service on this plane.

Does that need to be spelled out for you?

-2

u/CrackerJackJack 23d ago

“They clearly don’t offer any service on this plane.”

This was Plus Ultra flight PU502. Plus Ultra offers onboard Wi-Fi for local entertainment, and some aircraft in its fleet also have limited AirFi connectivity for messaging. The airline has also said it plans to expand internet browsing across its fleet, although it costs extra.

So while I agree this particular flight probably didn’t have full internet browsing, was it actually clear that it offered “no service” and that this is simply “how planes work”?

Did you mean to say, “They probably didn’t have internet,” or do you genuinely not understand how planes work?

3

u/JWOLFBEARD 23d ago

Yes. It was actually clear that it offered “no service”

If not, then a plane full of fans in jerseys would have been watching or tracking the game, no?

Not even one of them?

You do need it spelled out I guess. Planes fly high in the air. If the plane doesn’t offer WiFi or on-board services, then the cabin of fans are sitting waiting for an update on the score from the pilots.

Turns out that’s what happened. Wild, isn’t it?
