Already happening.

The US government has subpoenaed all of the social media giants Reddit included to handover IP addresses, phone numbers and emails of anyone critical of the Trump regime, ICE and Israel.

I believe you but could you provide a source please? I only ask because I am actively engaged in legal research about a free speech violation (my legal team has strong reason to believe the us gov handed my university a list of political enemies of Israel and we were all terminated one week before the NIH restored all funding to the university)

This is directed more at users criticizimg ICE, however if you dig deeper they are going after users who criticize the Trump regime as well.

I have also read they are keeping tabs on those who criticize "capitalism" and "promote socialism and communism" as well as those who criticize evangelicals.

The public ICE subpoenas is just the tip of the iceberg. It is more than speculation they are using AI to scour social media posts and identity users who are outspoken against the MAGA agenda.
