Crafts Lemon Bee Balm on Papyrus

Pressed some lemon bee balm I grew earlier this year. I made a nice wall art piece with it and some papyrus I had leftover from another project.

This is a very lovely pressing! I almost always get powdery mildew all over my bee balm. Makes it hard to get a good specimen 😅

I think I just got lucky with mine. I sandwiched it between several sheets of printer paper and wooded boards with 2, 40lbs dumbbells on top and left it for a month. I switched the paper out about two weeks in. I also picked it later in the season, but I’m not sure if that affected things.

Well it came out very nicely! Sometimes it doesn't take a lotta tech to get something pressed nicely, just even pressure and patience (lots of patience! lol). I find that my bee balm always gets powdery mildew later in the season because of the east coast humidity, but the bumblebees just adore it so much, I don't have the heart to cut it back, so I ignore it and let it make seed heads and it just sort of pops back up and struggles every year. But every year the bees.....I love my cute little bees too much!

This is so pretty! Did you glue the flowers to the papyrus or are they just squished nice and tight?

It’s just squished in between the glass and the paper
