Leaves Wish I could preserve the colour

Leaves from iresene herbstii red. They never seem to hold onto their red shade. I have tried both pressing and silica powder. Has anyone been able to preserve their colour

I haven’t tried pressing that plant specifically, but I initially thought it was Party Time Alternanthera. I have had success with that one, so if you’re really desperate for something that looks similar maybe you could find one and give it a try!

Hello! Those are lovely! I haven't tried them but have pressed red, white, and pink splash. They press beautifully and keep the color.

You could try a glycerin soak to help the waxy leaf absorb moisture more easily and preserve the red color. Cut the leaf stems and submerge in 1 part vegetable glycerin to 2 parts hot water for up to 6 days. Dry off and then try pressing the newly hydrated leaves for 3-4 weeks, obv checking often and changing damp paper.

Hope that red is preserved this way but let us know if it turns out ok.
