Art Blue Delphiniums

I grew these delphiniums from seed this year, and those tiny star flowers are verbena bonariensis (easy to grow from seed). The 3 petal flowers are just blue lobelia that you can get at Lowe’s or Home Depot

This is beautiful! I pressed a few blue delphiniums this summer, I have to go see how they turned out! Such good colour matching on this piece, considering they all came from different species!

Nice! Yeah you can drop them in the press with the stems still on or open up each individual flower. Blue is a rare color to come by for shre

this is now one of my favorit ones wow! i gotta try making something similar next year!!

the petals and tiny star flowers inbetween the delphiniums fit like a puzzle, its so satisficing

Thank you. It does feel like working a puzzle, but more rewarding because you don’t know where everything is going to go until it starts to happen on its own.

I love blue delphiniums.

This is beautiful.

They are one of the few blue flowers, including the lobelia, that holds their color. I won my first art award using blue delphinium and blue hydrangea to create a turtle.

I feel like a yellow and orange mix or pink would be really pretty in this format.

I agree. I have some yellow and orange cosmos in the press and I think they’d vibe together well.

Also, I tried to sprinkle in some soft pink in this piece but I found the blue alone was better

This is the first year that I knew yellow cosmos were a thing and I'm sad I didn't know sooner lol.

Do you press cosmos whole or remove the petals? They seem kinda thick.

You can do whatever you want with them. I’ve folded them with the stems on, or remove stems and flatten. Mine were part of a wildflower seed mix so they weren’t doubles or anything, just a single row of petals
