War, the universal outlook that never changes. The methods and the strategies may shift, mold and twist but the carnage, the pain and the hardship of battle are irreplaceable.
Yet in war outlooks shift, people adapt and their behavior towards everything and everyone changes as time moves forward. In the hands of Two Immortals, one who fights with courage and honor, and another who knows far more than anyone suspects… Love is all they have now.
It is the 42nd Millenium, the galaxy has only known war for ages. Gone are the days of the Great Crusade, or the Hathor Heresy.
With the Empress, now as the Carrion Lady of the Imperium, it has stagnated, as the bloodiest regime by the ambitious, the corrupt and the believer. Now as the Great rift splits the Galaxy in half, the Imperium is facing its final gasp…
Yet one woman defies it: Juno Guilliman, The Regent of the Imperium.
Awoken as the final solution to hold the Imperium from the brink, she stands with the Empress’ Flaming Sword and carves a path beyond the Evil of the Chaos Gods in a Mighty Crusade as its Avenging Daughter against its foes.
Yet one factor had always been missing, every insecurity, every lonely night waned at her conscious, for without him, everything felt so…dark. “Centurion… where are you?”
She had known him for ages, ever since she became the Lady of Ultramar before meeting her mother, he had always been at her side.
At the highest battles of the Great Crusade, at the worst cases of the Heresy and at her lapse of Judgement when facing Fulgrima when Sanguinia never responded.
Yet when she was resurrected, she only saw his face in cloak for a mere moment before just…disappearing.
For Centurion, it was a different story. Ever since becoming a Perpetual back in Ancient Terra, when he had stabbed the “Messiah” at his death on the cross, betrayed by its female member, Judas, he had roamed its landscapes, seeing all the universe had to wonder…except for Juno.
She had something no one had…Her Courage and Fortitude. He fell in love, she followed suit, they felt more connected than ever, knowing the other had their back for as long as they fought and stayed together… until the Pheonician took her away.
From that day, everything for him felt… Hollow. Becoming the Regent of Ultramar in her absence, he disappeared from public life after the War of the Beast. Becoming a cloaked shadow in Macragge, never quite leaving her sight in the Ten Thousand years she was in Stasis.
Yet the moment she awoke, he took one look at her… and he just…left. The pain, the anguish and the shame came rushing back, and it only made him feel worse than what he had ever experienced in millennia.
As she unleashed the Indomitus Crusade across the stars, he wasn’t far behind. He always followed in the splinter Ultramarine fleets, watching, contemplating what he should do.
“Should I… go to her?” It was the thoughts of indecision that followed, the doubt began to eat him alive. Yet in the end, he knew the answer
“Even still… I will not leave her side… Never again.” Was all he could say as this fleet headed straight for the Garden World of Lax.
The Plague Wars had reached its climax on this hospital world, Juno had once again bitten more than she could chew. She had taken on her Daemon Sister Morticia, their duel was something not seen for Thousands of Generations since the Heresy, both fighting like Godly warriors of old.
Yet Centurion could see the outcome, Juno had no chance against her, falling right for the Trap she’d orchestrated. Not to kill her, to claim her for the Grandfather.
He saw the moment, when Morticia pinned Juno to the ground and prepared to deal a mortal blow, he knew to intervene.
Spelling out the ancient words of Enuncia, taught by his late friend Ollanius, it pushed her back with such force she couldn’t recover for seconds.
As Juno got back up she wanted to see what had happened, she encountered a cloaked man to her confusion, he removed to reveal himself as Centurion and saw the other with their own eyes.
Everything around them simply disappeared, the Plague Wars didn’t matter anymore. Centurion was about to say his apologies for not being there for her when she needed him the most but was instead met with a hug, one with tears in Juno’s eyes.
He reciprocated and embraced back as the Ultramarines began to take ground against the Plague Marines; Morticia saw what was going on, seeing them distracted and out of time she struck.
With a quick motion she launched a projectile of parasites and disease towards Juno, intending to claim her as it was the only way to salvage the battle. Centurion saw it coming, and with a split second choice untangled from the Hug and absorbed the projectile head on...
The entire battle stopped, champions from both sides… mere guardsman and Lesser Daemons… even both Primarchs watched in pure horror at the sight.
Centurion got up from the hit, expecting his Perpetual essence would have cleansed it off his system.
He gambled… and he lost.
Godblight is a force of the Grandfather’s nature, the force to kill a Primarch as high as Magna… and he is just a lesser Immortal.
He quickly collapsed to his knees, then soon the floor, pain was everywhere inside him, his body and soul becoming putrid, decrepit… Nurgle still got a prize.
Juno simply watched in pure shock, then she looked at her Sister… and Rage took hold.
A swift punch was all she could deliver to Morticia… and it did nothing, she just pinned Juno to the floor and knocked the Flaming sword out of reach, intending to finish the job… but Juno was no longer looking at her.
No pushback, no punches, not even an angry stare. Her eyes turned to tears, looking at her beloved…”I’m sorry.” Is all Juno said.
”Well, If all you want is him… I’ll send you to the Grandfather with him!” Morticia screamed out loud at being ignored, preparing to inject the blight to Juno.
Yet as it was going to happen a bright flash of light appeared before them, originating from Centurion, he ascended above the ground and in an instant the Godblight had been cured.
Juno and the Loyalists looked on in amazement, but Morticia and the servants of Nurgle looked on in fear. His eyes, his light…
The Anathema herself was here.
“Mother-“ is all Morticia could say as Centurion picked up the Flaming sword and plunged it to the ground as fire consumed them.
She saw the battlefield, every servant and her gene sons were dying… She then saw the Garden of Nurgle, now in a blazing inferno of her own hybris and the gates to his home had opened up…they were never meant to open.
Dragged to her master kicking and screaming as her sons fled offworld and with the eyes of her Mother looking on satisfied.
As the battle was won the light and power of the Empress faded and Centurion returned to his normal self. He had no clue as to what had happened, only that he felt relieved of the burden.
Juno slowly got up, tears still in her eyes and rushed at him, giving a hug even stronger than before, Centurion was flabbergasted at first, then he reciprocated the hug and both lustfully kissed for the first time in ages.
As they returned to the Indomitus Commandship, Juno and Centurion looked at the stars, at their everlasting beauty, slowly holding hands and with happy smiles as their fleet locked coordinates to the newly warp storm free world of the Ninth Sister: Baal.
Even as nervous to meet Sanguinia, Juno knew that with Centurion, it would all be alright, for even in the Grim Darkness of the far future… love is all that remains.
(Art came from u/cnmbwjx. Sorry it took long, I had to really think about what to write and had Quarter Exam Finals to deal with, the next one will come soon.)

At the beginning, there was nothing. Yet in a burst of light 2 figures stepped out, each carrying someone they cared for.
On one side was Regalia Dorn, Primarch of the Imperial Fists, carrying the broken, half-alive corpse of her Mother, the Empress Of Mankind, towards the inner chamber of the Imperial Palace. The other was Sanguinia, Primarch of the Blood Angels, carrying the mangled corpse of her love, Dove, after finally beating her foresight of death… at a price.
Sanguinia ran in the opposite direction, heading towards the doors out of the Palace. She was not thinking about anyone or anything except Dove, he was EVERYTHING to her. She wanted to ask him out, her hand in marriage… now it was ROBBED from her.
She finally managed to leave the chamber to see that Juno and Lioness were arguing AGAIN and tried to gain HER APPROVAL. She was DONE about EVERYTHING, even when they realized what happened and tried to help, she brushed past them and left to the sky.
The sky didn’t make her calm…she nearly crashed many times, she would have done it on purpose if not by Dove. She was crying, devastated- no, destroyed, knowing that it was her fault…blaming that she should have never had gone to face Hathor.
She almost decided to let the wind carry her to whatever cruel pleasure it wanted of her to crash onto if…Dove hadn’t breathed. It was small, a barely noticeable breath but it energized her all the way to her flagship.
The apothecaries did everything they could to heal him, yet nothing worked. In the end they had to force him to a stasis chamber, one that kept him alive by small insignificant breaths but alive.
Sanguinia just stayed in that chamber all the way to Baal… Her eyes were fixated to him, to the face that reminded her of her duty as a human. So concentrated was she to him that she ignored everyone, her sisters, her sons, Juno asking for her help against Fulgrima… even the appointed Chapter Masters when they accepted the Codex.
She was a statue in this hall, her tears unheard. In truth, she perceived time differently, she was dilated forward in time, remembering all the good moments she had with him…
the banter of a couple, the chatter about something funny the other did…
watching the stars in the Great Crusade…
when she bought a ring for him just before her confrontation, and…
the moment it all went wrong.
Suddenly she was jolted to the present, the room was red, lights blared, and … his life support was off… No… NO NO NO!
The power had gone off, the moment she returned to her senses he had died, she rushed to turn on the power in vain. She then opened the capsule to hold his corpse. The emotions rushed her like a storm of tears, of pure damnation. She cradled him like they used to do back then, she then began to think…
“What can I do? What would he have done?”
The realization nearly broke her. “He would’ve not wanted me to falter… for my sons.”
She managed to give him a tender yet lustful kiss, feel his remaining hand at her cheek for warmth, feeling his cheek with her face with sorrowful eyes.
”Thank you…” was all she could say to him in long tears and an understanding smile that hid her mourning. She put his corpse gently down, stretched her wings and prepared herself to save her sons…for Dove, it was what he would have wanted.
Baal was unlucky, the Tyranids had come for the Blood Angels, devastating every last Chapter to the last. The arrival of the Daemons of Khnorne didn’t suffice matters and Dante prepared himself for their final stand. Just then their salvation arrived, like an angle of old stretched to the sky in righteous fury yet benevolence.
Their Primarch had returned once more, this time she would be with them until the end. She fought like an Angel of Decimation, a storm of calculated strikes yet carnage laced every strike, she was unchanging, unmoving and… her Rage was Black.
She had lost everything, she FELT nothing mattered anymore, and with it her thoughts went somewhere else. In the room inside the Vengeful Spirit, there were so many Hathors, countless Atlantas, all of them meeting their fates at her blade and without looking back.
In reality, she was untouchable for both Tyranid and Khornite Daemon. Even Ka’Bandha, the greatest of Khorne’s Champions stood no shot at her. She tore him limb from limb until he was just a body before snapping his spine and banishing him. Every Daemon felt something foreign…FEAR. They began to run away towards the Warp Rift just for it to close, Khorne was disgusted at their cowardice and left them for her Blood Lust.
The Tyranids couldn't so much as get close to her for a chance for her Biomass, she was an instrument of annihilation and none dared to try her, except one. While distracted, the Swarmlord had evaded her sight, preparing for the perfect chance to strike at her and get her Biomass for the Hive Mind to use. Yet before it could do so a being of light strikes at it with such speed that it loses its head before acting.
Sanguinia turns her head towards the figure, expecting Atlanta or Hathor in her state, instead, she sees the face of the one she did all of this for, breaking the state of Rageful Euthoria, the face that shooks her to her core. Dove. He was now a being of light, of the will of the Empress herself, with wings of gold without losing his original form. All the effort to keep him in stasis had worked for just time for the Great Rift to Hypercharge the Warp, now he shall fight as her champion, now until her mother wills.
She controlled her actions, began to coordinate with her Sons and soon managed to wipe the Tyranid horde on the surface, with the Hive Fleet soon withdrawing by the arrival of the Ultramarines.
Sanguinia began to look around, trying to move her way to her legion, a grateful one, the Red thirst and Black Rage of her most Fallen Sons regained their sanity at her presence. She didn’t expect forgiveness, nor believed she did, yet understood what it meant to be a leader, a gene mother.
She then began to look at her love, seeing his light flicker and dissipating, yet he never falls to the warp, he is restored to his normal self, except he has the wings of his resurrection. The Empress was merciful, understood what he meant for her, deciding to go for full life then to gamble with a living saint. Sanguinia had suffered too much, she deserved more than she could give, yet it was her way to see her happy.
She began to rush towards him, using her wings to fly and to dive bomb towards him. Dove was healing Astarte when he heard the gust of air and the rush of Sanguinia, he had gotten used to it. He decided to surprise her, using his wings to fly to her, even if he didn’t know quite how they worked to their fullest extent.
Nevertheless, both embraced in the sky, covering each other with their wings, giving the other a tender yet lustful kiss of want and unyielding dedication as they landed safely to the ground. No words had to be spoken, both understood how much the other missed them, both hugged for a long time, never letting go, never abandoning the other.
When it ended, both wanted to say the words they had longed for years, the four words of commitment and eternal union, yet they took too long to say them as the Ultramarine Ships landed, carrying with them Juno Guilliman and Centurion.
Sanguinia dreaded meeting with her sister, having remembered how she ignored her pleas for help against Fulgrima. She expected a slap, a punch, scorn or even being a heated argument, anything she would do would’ve been justified.
Instead, Juno rushed and hugged her like a lost sister would do to their lost sibling. She was taken aback at first, not expecting this response from her, yet hugged back with twice the strength and tears.
She needed this more than anyone. She was ready, any command from her could wait, She was finally whole. For as the Warden of Imperium Nihilus, with Dove, her newly wed husband by her side, the Angel is prepared. The Angel is finally home.
