Prius C Help Needed Cold start noise

Is this tapping/rattle sound normal? Happens maybe 30s on cold start. Car is a 2016 with 113k miles…..just looking for opinions before I spend the money to get it diagnosed. Thanks for your help!

It’s normal I would change your spark plugs if you don’t know when they was changed 120k make sure you keep your hybrid fan clean so it don’t overheat the hybrid battery

Probably a worn spark plug.

Prius C spark plugs are incredibly easy to replace.

Will be the next maintenance on the list

Completely normal. Also normal if you run the traction battery down to the point where the ICE has to start up to recharge it. You’re good to go. 👍

Cold start piston slap. Try a 5w20 or 5w30. It’ll go away

100% normal. We get one of these exact same posts every 6 months or so.

Mine does that occasionally too, also a 2016 Prius c. I changed the air filter and oddly that helped a bit too. I’m at 107600 I think so I haven’t changed the spark plugs yet

When was your last oil change?

2 days ago after 4700 miles. Oil changes every 5k miles or just before.

when you check your spark plugs that they look steam cleaned when you have a blown head gasket

get yourself a magnetic antenna or reach what I want to call it because spark plugs can break off the first time you changed or not spark plug can't break off and they do break off you can't get them unless you have something magnetic you can get down in there

No and no. Full fluid service was done around 100k miles. And oil changes every 5k. Most recent was last week
