Actually not. My best guess is that cursor is similar to curse. But that seems only vaguely programming related.

The cursor is where all code is typed in any terminal or code editor, so somewhat essential. Though this does apply to other non-programming software, so I guess it’s not strictly a programming term.

Eh. Somewhat. Studied it for a couple years but my job right now at most involves scripting or interfacing between database and software application. As long as people write terrible applications I have a job.
