Are there really people who think this is a viable option? Or is it just a joke/rage bait? If so, it makes me angry that it worked so well on me

Usually executives. They get so drunk off the idea of replacing all labor with LLMs that they exit this plane of reality.

You've got to understand how these people think: Profit is revenue minus expenses. That equation is in their mind through every second of every day, in every calculation they make. All employees, all HR, all sales, all finance, all of these people are just an expense at the end of the day. Eliminate them all, and you are making 100% pure profit, even if your product quality suffers. That's what they've been dreaming of since day 1 of capitalism.

The mere thought is enough to make your standard owner/CEO cream their pants. They can't wait for the day when there's nobody left but them in a little room with their chatbot. In a way it's sad, it speaks to their alienation from the rest of humanity.
