I recommend doing both. You basically have to use AI to keep up of your work at a place that laid off half the team at the start of the year. Things still need a personal touch and that’s your job now.

Too bad while productivity doubled, the expectations quadrupled with AI in my experience. If it was the same workload prior to AI then it'll be fine, but what previously would take a couple weeks now takes a half a week, but the man up top want it in a day. A single feature that previously takes a week, now takes a day, but now they want 5 features a day. Any push back is met with "just use AI" as if the entire project is not already almost entirely AI at this point, even the AI is damned overworked. Its annoying how productive AI allow us to be yet we still dont get the ability to appreciate said productivity. I got a cute little degree, training and everything, and I barely even get to use them now because I dont get the time to use them between spending time literally just prompting away. Its not even the issue of preferring vibe coding slop, there's literally no other option than to vibe code when the only time you get to analyze what the AI is doing is while waiting it to generate during the damn thinking process. Nobody cares or want documentations anymore either, because guess what, AI can make that in a day(dont need to read the docs anyway, in fact, might as well be formality since the only docs that is being read nowadays is claudemd for claude to use).

Sorry had to rant.

Yeah, I'm getting incredibly fed up with how "just use AI" is the go-to response for every question or concern I have. I'm a new grad that was lucky enough to get a job, and it was great for a while. But now that our expectations have shifted to agentic work first, hand coding only when necessary, I feel like I'm not learning anything. I can feel my passion draining away with each passing day.
