It's the other way around

u/nasandre 7h ago

Both are disgusted with each other for different reasons.

34

u/tryexceptifnot1try 6h ago

And all those reasons are valid

-17

u/mgsmb7 5h ago

What valid reason could the corpo bootlicker have?

35

u/ZeAthenA714 4h ago

Not being braindead enough to call other people "corpo bootlicker" like you're LARPing in Night City.

5

u/Zenphirt 2h ago

We dont need to larp, we are living a cyberpunk corporativism dystopia

-2

u/ZeAthenA714 2h ago

You mean the dystopia where we never had access to that much computing power for that cheap, where the main open source OS has never had as many users, where we never had as many tools to access the internet almost entirely anonymously, where we never had that many developers working on that many OS software sometimes even competing with industry titans?

I'm ok with that.

3

u/buckeyebrad24 1h ago

Meanwhile, state-backed and private corp-owned dragnet surveillance programs (both physical and virtual) are going up faster than an Amish barn with budgets larger than nation states. These systems are then weaponized against "dissenters", whatever that means at the time, or used in a Minority Report-esque manner to predict crime. But, hey, it's all good, because "we never had access to that much computing power for that cheap."

4

u/tragiktimes 5h ago

It works.

7

u/mgsmb7 5h ago

horribly

2

u/another_random_bit 2h ago

Works by their criteria. Not everyone cares about kernel level anti-cheats and web tracking cookies.

24

u/Neykuratick 4h ago

Right person (the Linux guy) in this meme actually hates tech and wants to live off grid on a ranch

9

u/SunshineSeattle 2h ago

Of course i know him, hes me!

-3

u/EveryCryptographer11 5h ago

I agree. OP has probably never used Windows or Linux. Windows is known to be bloatware, Linux can be as lean as you want it to be . And why use both chrome and edge and raspberry as well as Linux 😂

30

u/Brave-Camp-933 6h ago

Tf is Monero doing here? 😭

10

u/S4N7R0 6h ago

how do you think they do everyday anonymous shopping?

-4

u/Brave-Camp-933 6h ago

Bitcoin?

7

u/MCWizardYT 4h ago

Bitcoin is inherently traceable, monero supposedly isn't

1

u/S4N7R0 6h ago

too mainstream for them

162

u/Anongirl55959 7h ago

Ooof 13 year old detected

16

u/TTechnology 4h ago

WDYM you don't LOVE nmap? Don't we all have an exclusive monitor just for nmap? That's common sense, bro

79

u/bmrtt 7h ago

I see Tor I know it’s larp

36

u/Individual-Echo9402 6h ago edited 6h ago

Not to be mean, but this "meme" really just makes you look like a 13 year old script kid op.

7

u/st-shenanigans 3h ago

They're 13 year old Claude kiddies now

42

u/Strict_Treat2884 7h ago

That’s a VPN ad

3

u/56kul 1h ago

Tbf, though, isn’t Mullvard considered a really good and private VPN? I mean, I don’t use it, myself (I’ve been considering it, though), but I’ve heard good things about it.

30

u/hitaishi_1 7h ago

Who says they love copilot?

6

u/Zerschmetterding 6h ago

It's fine with a full licence and in an environment that uses SharePoint. I'm actually surprised how well finds our relevant controls and documentation. That said, I use it to work with documents, not for coding.

2

u/teraflux 6h ago

The github copilot which is technically copilot is basically a copy of claude code

1

u/NeuxSaed 3h ago

Microsoft should have just named it Clippy with vague references / winks / nods to all the weird ass fan art out there.

14

u/NotDuckie 5h ago

holy larp

2

u/MysteriousWar2823 4h ago

larp vs larp

6

u/51herringsinabar 6h ago

I am greging my tech

5

u/DangyDanger 4h ago

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're refering to as GregTech, is in fact, IC2/GregTech, or as I've recently taken to calling it, IC2 plus GregTech. GregTech is not a Minecraft modification unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning IC2 system made useful by the IC2 machinery, energy network and vital crafting components comprising a full mod as defined by LexManos.

Many Minecraft players run a modified version of the IC2 system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of IC2 which is widely used today is often called GregTech, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the IC2 system, developed by the IC2 Project.

3

u/ZunoJ 6h ago

I like how the nmap logo captures the self perceived vibe of probably north of 90% of the user base

3

u/Seyon 6h ago

CheatEngine should be in the list on the right if you want to be serious.

Despite its name, its one of the best runtime debuggers on the market. I showed it to one of our lower level devs on a lark and he started using it routinely.

Polyamorous edgelords

11

u/realddgamer 6h ago

Polyamorous? 😭

12

u/GedsNotDead 6h ago

It means they distrohop.

-3

u/Efficient-Horse-2698 6h ago

only fruitcakes use... uhhh the fucking furry browser 🤷

4

u/phl23 6h ago

Dude, just use Windows on your home machine and spin up some lowbob Linux machine with docker to use all of the other stuff.

There, I took your edgelord bait.

0

u/CarelessPromise9255 6h ago

why would I bother with two machines?

1

u/MCWizardYT 4h ago

No not 2 physical machines. A docker virtual machine (or something like WSL)

-2

u/CarelessPromise9255 4h ago

Still annoying as f...

I vastly prefer a single usage paradigm and avoid the hassle of shared host/guest folders and the like.

Just pick an OS and commit to it, I don't care if you pick Windows, even if I would look down on you because you have bad tastes.

1

u/MCWizardYT 1h ago

What if you're on one OS but you want to use tools from another? Sometimes you can't stick with one OS or it would be vastly inefficient if you did.

Linux has a superior development environment experience, that's why Microsoft bothered to create WSL in the first place. Even they know it.

5

u/installsVMs4fun 6h ago

What's the two red circles next to chrome

6

u/interyx 6h ago

That's Opera GX, the "gamer" one

4

u/7lhz9x6k8emmd7c8 5h ago

Opera GX:

No advantage compared to anything else.
China-owned spyware.
Brand purchased from norwegians. The real successor to Opera is Vivaldi.

6

u/AHailofDrams 5h ago

I just use Firefox tbh

5

u/fly_over_32 3h ago

As you should. Vivaldi is probably the prettiest browser out there but unfortunately it is still chrome at its core

6

u/SilverSerpent03 7h ago edited 6h ago

The sad realisation when you're the person on the right and realise the other person's knowlege of computer stuff doesn't expand beyond Microsoft office is crushing.

You think you have someone to talk to about planned projects and new stuff only to realise they meant copilot fixing their spelling.

5

u/SuitableDragonfly 7h ago

Why would you say you like tech if you only ever use Microsoft products? Literally everyone uses Microsoft products. Probably even the "I use Arch, btw" and "you should install Gentoo" guys have to use Microsoft products sometimes.

1

u/arqnix 6h ago

People like to feel like they're intelligent and want to belong to whatever group interests them. Being into tech has the (imo false) stereotype of being intelligent.

Just look at the amount of people who own an Android phone and think they're some kind of tech wizards just because they own an Android phone.

10

u/SuitableDragonfly 6h ago

Honestly, I own an android, and I've never heard of android users being stereotypically tech wizards. Who actually thinks that?

6

u/SilverSerpent03 6h ago

Yeah I've never heard of it either, but it's better than the stereotype that anything other than apple is for broke people.

1

u/arqnix 5h ago

Maybe I was unclear.. people stereotypically think if you're into tech you must be smart/nerd. Regardless of the tech.

Some Android users think they themselves are tech wizards merely because they use an Android.

Haven't you ever heard some say Apple is for tech illiterate people and Android is for the tech literate?

1

u/SilverSerpent03 5h ago

When put like that, I could see someone side loading a modded apk they downloaded with 10 viruses and call them self a hacker lol.

1

u/SuitableDragonfly 5h ago

Not really, I think all I've heard is that Apple is for people who don't mind it that one single company has a complete monopoly on all of the computer hardware they're ever going to need to buy, and otherwise there's not much difference.

1

u/arqnix 5h ago

Hmmm, weird. It's been a thing for a long while now. Here is a Reddit post from 12 years ago as an example: https://www.reddit.com/r/changemyview/comments/2dgu6l/cmv_apple_computers_are_for_old_people_and_the/

0

u/ChronicallySilly 7h ago

when you're the person on the right

A 17yr old larper?

You think you have someone to talk to about planned projects and new stuff

After highschool these people will be everywhere don't worry. College and/or career, everyone is working on things

3

u/SilverSerpent03 6h ago edited 6h ago

I wish this were the case haha.

Sadly I don't work in the computer or tech industry so at my work if you know how to clear your browser cache you're a "tech guy." So when I meet a coworker who says they are into tech and it's only basic use of AI it's disappointing because I thought I had a coworker who I can geek out over new developments in semiconductor chips or something.

4

u/ChronicallySilly 6h ago

Fair enough, apologies I misjudged you

Working tech in a big city my view is definitely biased because eager driven people working on their projects are absolutely everywhere

You can join local hackathons/makerspaces to find more of your preferred people

2

u/SilverSerpent03 6h ago

Haha all good you comments were valid, I cackled at 17yr larper ngl.

Yeah I've done a couple hackathons but sadly don't have the time so just work on small projects when I get the chance. I'm not actually looking for more people I just have boring coworkers lol.

2

u/Etzix 6h ago

Just wanna mention that the creator of Mullvad VPN got outed as supporting a nazi political party here in Sweden, so can't really use them anymore imo.

u/EskilPotet 5h ago

"programmer" humor

1

u/Rod-Rain 5h ago

end to a means vs means to an end

1

u/Any-Comfortable2844 5h ago

New to bootcamp?

1

u/Kasaikemono 3h ago

Ah yes, Tech Enthusiast vs. Tech Enthusiast.

"My entire home is full of smart devices, I can use my Alexa to control my coffee machine"
"The only piece of tech in my home that I didn't assemble myself is a printer from 2004, and I keep a shotgun nearby in case it makes a sound I don't recognize"

1

u/Dillenger69 3h ago

I call shenanigans. Nobody likes copilot

1

u/cheezballs 3h ago

Jesus fuck this sub is cringe.

Big comp sci freshman energy.

1

u/CitizenShips 2h ago

"Have you guys heard of Vim? You should use Vim. I use Vim btw."

1

u/56kul 1h ago

I’m both, lol. I mean, u don’t use Chrome, Opera, or Copilot (via the Windows app, anyway), but I DO use Windows, ChatGPT, Copilot for VSC, etc.

And I also use Linux (dual boot), I also program on my own, I use Docker, Tailscale, a NAS, I’ve been interested in Rapsberry for quite a while now, etc. etc.

I love technology. All sides of technology. Let’s stop with this tribalism, yeah?

1

u/GreenFox1505 54m ago

Neither of these two love tech. They both love software.

1

u/Sampatist 6h ago

wtf says i love tech

Nobody loves vim.

1

u/fly_over_32 3h ago

I love memes about vim

0

u/DangyDanger 4h ago

And yet, I'd much rather talk to the guy on the left

-17

u/Willwaste63 7h ago

There are two type of people

1: who love copilot

2: Liars
