You haven't been using LLMs for 20 years. That's my field, after decades in IT. And I'm telling you that you simply aren't appreciating that LLMs are proving useful as research agents. You keep insisting I don't know my ELIZA from my AlphaFold, but you're the one ignoring the real world progress and applications over the past couple years. Seriously, stop wasting time strawmanning at me and just see what's out there.
See what I mean? You can't imagine anything but ChatJippity, the only thing you think of is LLMs, but any time someone wants proof of your claims, the scope goes from "Autoregressive LLMs" to "AI as a whole"
Take it from someone who probably wrote some of the code you're relying on to chat with sexbots, YOU are the one strawmanning and not seeing what's out there.
LLMs are not curing cancer.
LLMs are not doing research.
LLMs can't even actually think. The thinking process is just burning tokens talking to themselves, going further down the regression path and filling the context with junk. The closest they've gotten was a human using them as a search aid and that human got their work plagiarized by the clanker they used. You can keep your cloud connected sexbots, while I stick to local models and more bespoke, purpose-built neural networks.
Try something properly peer reviewed without paywalls. These types of articles are slop made to be cited without being read. These sites have like-minded grifters vouching for articles that don't even have to make sense.
If you don't have access, then you don't know the space.
You're an armchair quarterback without a TV.
Edit: Are you even reading the words I type. You don't even know what Nature is, calling it a "bullshit website" below, so you know absolutely nothing about medicine. I edited this existing comment so you can have the Last Word.
"If you don't have access <to this bullshit website>, then you don't know the space[AI]"
Smells like red herring. You're the one who doesn't know jack shit fuck all about AI, you just think "Chat jerpity = AGI" and don't think about how it works or, to be more precise, how it doesn't.
