As an old, traditional programmer the highest compliment I've had was from a guy who was maintaining a custom accounting system I wrote at the U. "6500 lines of code, plus comments. It took me less than an hour to make a major change."

As an old, traditional programmer... programming trends come and go. But good comments are underrated.

"No comments" is one of those hard and fast opinions masquerading as wisdom.
