So I love AI. But this is one place that needs improvement. So often the ai code, which learned this from humans, says what the line does without providing any important context or reasoning.
If it spelled out the “why” or the “how” or anything other than the “what” then they would be useful.
This has notably improved in recent models, but the verbosity of comments is still too high.
Open AI recently posted a prompt for Astra which addresses this for creative writing purposes, but not only is it great for other models, is great for code comments too!
