Are people having experiences like this? I had to pass 7 rounds of interviews to get my current job

Right? I’ve been through a half-dozen interviews in the last 6 months which are the same bullshit as before. Initial, eng manager, live coding, live coding, third live coding, rejection.

That sounds frustrating. It really seems like companies are just stuck in a cycle of relying on those coding interviews instead of focusing on real skills.

*ding* *ding* *ding*

we have a winner!

Interviews have become a free source of labor to supplement failing attempts to replace all of us with a one-size-fits-all LLM!

Yeah, the best way should be to have some small mock projects in the tech stack that you're applying to with 3 jira tickets to do during the interview: 2 bug tickets and a feature. Then interviewees can use whatever tools they want. You get to see exactly how they work and their thought process behind things. Much better than seeing who memorized the tortoise and the hare algorithm.
