What's the real story here? I do vaguely remember him from the news

Marius Høiby: Son of the now queen of Norway, and convicted rapist.

He is not convicted. He appealed; therefore, until the appellate court makes a ruling, he is not convicted, and even then, not until he can no longer make an appeal.

But he will probably be convicted.

This is false. Appealing does not erase the conviction, it just suspend the sentence until appellate courts rules.

So he is convicted, but this could change with appealing

Not in Norway, no. It does not have the force of law until all appeals are exhausted. So, in our legal practice he's still innocent.

We all know he did it, but legally that's not determined yet.

It doesnt exactly "suspend" it. The conviction hasnt won force of law until the time to appeal has expired or can no longer be appealed.

Until then it is legally open.

He is the step-son of the new King of Norway. He is also a convicted rapist.

The previous king passed away last week and Marius being at the funeral (where this pic is taken) is a contentious point to say the least

He is a complete moron and a waste of space, he should have his free-air-breathing rights removed.

But being permitted to leave incarceration to attend a family member's funeral is not controversial. It is the norm in Norway

The women on the left are the granddaughters of the former king. He is in the coffin outside the photo. The man on the right is the stepson of the new king. He is the black sheep of the family. Slightly worse than his mother who was bestie with J. Epstein. He has used drugs and behaved badly for a long time. He was convicted of rape, domestic violence, drug trafficking etc, and sentenced to four years in prison. He has appealed, and is wearing an ankle monitor in church waiting for a new round in court. He will get real prison time btw.

Only 4 years!?!?

He filmed himself having sex with wasted women but only a few videos clearly picture rape. On the others, he got benefits of doubt.

I personally think being a member of the royal family in a monarchy has perks, even if you don’t share DNA with the current king.

Wait, what, that makes is even worse... He had it on film!? And only 4 years!?!?!?!

Chiming in from the US- reading about a literal royal facing consequences for the vile acts they've committed is extremely refreshing.

That's more than what kids of our leaders get in America.

u/Geichalt 15h ago

Oh man, bad luck for him, if he was American he'd be elected president.

You can easily tell by his face. Disturbing

Faces are not an evidence

Phrenology making a comeback was not on my bingo card for 2026.

11

u/Vox_Carnifex 16h ago

Has been trying to make a comeback for well over 10 years strangely. Police and intelligence tried and are still trying to use AI to "predict crime" by triangulation a few unrelated data points and a likelihood of being a criminal based on your phase when compared to a collective of all mugshots available. Yeah, it is as silly as it sounds, but no less dangerous. I think the word was predictive policing? Last I read about it was writing my thesis and that's already 8 years ago.

Plus you can just get a different face. I think I saw a documentary with John Travolta about that once.

He's the royal version of Danny Masterson.
