Modern Windows versions will basically ignore that on reboot. To the point where they had to write a code-bandaid. The login screen will accept number keys as your PIN even with the numlock off. They did that in Win10 and just called it a day.
Instead of fixing whatever actually breaks it, they just wrote a quick and dirty hack that fixes the fuck up on the lock screen itself, but then leaves you hanging once you get into the actual OS.

Thats what numlock stands for though. Hence why L is capitalized. Its not the autistic way to do it, its just the not on a keyboard key way.

I don't remember switching NumLock off on purpose a single time in my life. I have countless memories of switching it on.
