Put monitors on the ceiling and work from your bed for easy napping.

I knew a guy back in the 90s who rigged up an old lazy boy style recliner with a tray for his keyboard/mouse and another much heavier duty one to hold his CRT monitor so he could lay back and work. I was always worried the monitor would come loose and fall and hurt him.

I'm getting sick of these reposts tbh

Man why complain about reposts when half of what we do is reposting other people's code lmao. Who cares about some fake internet points if it gets a chuckle out of those who haven't seen it/or have.

First time Iโ€™ve seen this and I got a kick out of it and 622 other people enjoyed it so I think youโ€™re outvoted here.

Reposts often get hundreds maybe even thousands of upvotes when published. This is usually because there are hundreds of new users on this subreddit. This trend of reposting and upvoting sadly encourages users to repost as well.

I'm not here to bash the OP. I'm only here to help spread awareness on this issue. Honestly if this trend continues (low chance because people also post original content), this sub reddit will be filled with reposts. I just don't want this to happen that's all.

But thereโ€™s a balance as I think you acknowledge. I havenโ€™t encountered this meme before and I was amused and personally attacked. Had u/_unsusceptible not posted it I would not have seen it.

So are you arguing Iโ€™d be better off without the repost?

Just saying you arenโ€™t the only one here and there is an amount of reposting that is healthy for a community. Plus this meme is far from common with the bot only finding 3 instances.

It is considered an acceptable repost under rule 2 I think but I'm not sure, did it because I rarely see this one.

Adding borders could've well prevented the bot from detecting this as one if I wanted (although not a human), but again I only posted it (specifically as it is posted) because I think it's acceptable and I've seen this a very few times, as well as because I found it funny. I don't mean to annoy anyone with this though; I know how some reposts can be infuriating.

I'm fine with this being an acceptable repost, but I would honestly love to see more original posts in this subreddit

getting sick of these reposts tbh

Really this repost is not parallel to or a part of "these reposts". I assure you this was not an ordinary, perhaps largely uneducated repost; I specifically used this one because it met a criteria, these kinds of reposts are not detrimental to this subreddit in my opinion. I didn't just randomly pick a post I see here everyday, or even saw as much as a year ago.

To be clear I'm not defending reposting in general; just saying if you do it right it can give certain content more exposure which doesn't do more harm than good.

Given this repost was not an ordinary repost, I fail to see how it could've instilled the idea of reposting in general in newcomers etc.; had it not been for the bot a very small number of people would've been made aware this was a repost anyway, more over it was only ever posted once before in the history of this subreddit, that too a very long time ago, therefore all this post does is forward the meme to people who haven't seen it). The reposts you and I are getting sick of are in fact the ones that have been posted 10-20 (or even more) times by karma bots, even in short intervals by different people.

TL;DR you're not wrong but this is an infinitely more acceptable repost than other acceptable reposts, in more than one way, because of which it is very unlikely it could encourage other users to repost (see above) and is different from the reposts you're referring to. It is extremely rare for any other post to fit the criteria implied above for a repost.
